i'd dig a 335d engine in a jeep but something like a cummins is just too dang heavy for the chassis.

I drove like 6 fj-40s before deciding on the JKU. That motor is like a tractor but for a camping vehicle it was inadequate. Too slow and too poor gas mileage.I couldn't justify shelling out the 20k people were asking for them. Pics to follow with 20" srt8 wheels.
10/17/2014 9:34:57 AM
20" srt8
10/17/2014 9:43:56 AM
that's retarded as shit

Let's pretend I'm Ron Swanson and you're Jean-Ralphio"look at my twentieeeeezeeeeeesssssssss yooooooooooo"

short wheelbase, solid axles, and low(ish) profile tires sounds like a really great setup
10/17/2014 10:03:32 AM
I like the 20s.... but haters gonna hate.
10/17/2014 11:55:44 AM
How much did ha pick it up for ?
10/17/2014 7:46:34 PM
Well a 304 V8 isnt light either. I don't think 100lbs either way is going to ruin a vehicle that is pretty much a crap shoot to begin with!4 door jeeps are so cute looking!
10/19/2014 8:45:42 AM
one thing that eludes me is why there are so many 20" haters out there talking about the tire/rim ratio when the stock sahara comes with 18 rims and 32" tires. There is very little difference between 20/35 and 18/32.
10/21/2014 11:17:51 AM
because it looks goofy
10/21/2014 2:03:44 PM
Saharas are also for morons...Hi I bought a loaded jeep on dubs and paid as much as a loaded rubicon but didn't get lockers or a front dana 44
10/21/2014 6:36:19 PM
didntgetlockers
10/21/2014 8:34:29 PM
Look at the tiny brake rotor and caliper behind that SRT8 20" rim! Looks goofy to me.
10/21/2014 8:51:51 PM
^^^ Funny that you mention the Sahara thing. I bought used, and the only stipulation I had was "No Sahara." I was either going to buy a Rubicon and get all the extra bells and whistles right off the bat, or I was going to save and buy a Sport that I could slowly build over time. Then I found a Sahara at a price I couldn't pass up. But yeah, in general you're exactly right.
10/21/2014 9:28:20 PM
heads up my 1st jeep was a sahara.. i typically love them if the rubicon interior wasn't as nice and they still had the bitchen canvas interior in the sahara it would be more worth it but new for new.... i traded climate control and leather for lockers and dana 44s and i think still came out $1100 less otherwise my jeep is loaded (btw i didn't wan leather or climate control because both are pretty useless with the top off)

Is there not a mod to allow 4-hi with the lockers on the Wrangler? On my 4Runner I think you just have to clip one wire.
10/23/2014 10:42:51 AM
Limited slips are bad in the snow you want a wheel not getting power to be a "rudder wheel" ... and i don't need to be in low range for my lockers . Also when you slide into the ditch cause your lim slip kicked the rear end out you won't be able to get out. ^ if you short out the xfer case wire i think it throws a code but it's pretty easy to wire directly to the relay or there are after market tuners that can do it. And i agree the disconnects are dumb hence i left them off the list. Thank you,ps my jeep has been to uwharrie 13 times now and it's only a year old... been to fort fisher twice and some sand pits in new york once... she goes offroad bosss.. don't start reflecting your dubs on a jeep shit on me.[Edited on October 23, 2014 at 3:17 PM. ^ ahahahahahahaI guess we should at least be happy he bought a capable vehicle
10/25/2014 4:19:51 PM
Lol yep actually I have one...
10/25/2014 4:47:28 PM
what kind of center diff does the Rubicon have, can it do full-time 4wd (AWD)?
10/25/2014 8:01:16 PM
^has there ever been an open-centered t-case available in the wrangler? None of the JK's have one
10/26/2014 9:33:19 AM
then it seems like if slushy roads are what BlackSheep is worried about, he should have bought another vehicle
10/26/2014 12:41:10 PM
are you referring to foo1's input above about the axle lockers being disabled in 4hi, or just making a general facetious statement?I'll tell you what won't do stop-n-go in the snow, a 6500# dodge with 13" wide tires and no limited slip differentials.
10/26/2014 7:35:42 PM
The rubie does so well in the snow with traction and stability control on its boring.Lim slips aren't bad if you know what to expect but what they will do is make it a drifter jeep if you aren't careful which can be fun.Truth is last snow storm I locked the rear and played most of the time in 2wd but when it thawed and refroze into ice I ran it in 4hi with the axles unlocked.I understand you are saying ultimately an awd car is best in the snow but typically the center diff doesn't induce enough wheel spin to hurt the stability of the vehicle.Anyway bro jeep on...Anyone drive over any medians lately?Park in the landscaping of a parking lot?
10/26/2014 9:21:08 PM
Anyone here run a Garvin or Gobi top rack on a JK?
11/5/2014 2:25:36 PM
I don't. Never had a need for one.I casually mentioned to my wife the other day that I was thinking about trading in my '07 Sahara for a new Hard Rock Edition. Much to my surprise, she said she thought it was a good idea. I think I have built about 1,000 on Jeep.com in the last few days.
11/8/2014 7:38:59 PM
Bump.I did a factory order for a JKU Hard Rock, and I'm selling my '07 JKU Sahara. I want an opinion on what I should reasonably expect to get out of it.- 88,500 miles- 2.5" TeraFlex lift - 315x70x17 (about 34.5x12.50) Mickey Thompson mud terrain tires on AEV pintler wheels. Two of the tires need to be replaced, but the other two are good for a while longer. Matching spare. - Poison Spyder front bumper- Engo 10k winch- CB (not that I think it really adds to the value, but I'm listing it anyway)- Factory 4.10 gears- Limited slip - Power windows and doors- Soft top is in good shape for an '07. A few scratches on the back panel, but nothing that effects visibility. No tears. - Interior is in good shape. Paint is flawless. No signs of trail carnage anywhere.- Sahara side stepsIt probably has a few other options I'm not thinking of right now. A guy on Craigslist offered $17,500, citing $17,300 for private party value on KBB. I know I'm not going to get full value for all of the mods on the Jeep, but I'm hoping for more than that.I'm thinking about countering with $19,000 and telling him I keep the winch at that price. Thoughts?
3/31/2015 9:47:15 PM
I think mods are a sunk cost.I'd take his offer, but tell him you it is conditioned on you keeping the winch, and anything else you want to yank.
3/31/2015 10:55:19 PM
I would post it on craigslist for what i wanted to get for it. Someone will find value in your mods and pay you for them.
6/3/2015 3:27:46 PM
The pentastar kicked the value of your jeep in the nuts. I wouldn't say that's a bad offer but I'd want 19 like you.
6/4/2015 3:39:23 PM
I got 19. And I couldn't be happier with the new Jeep. The Pentastar is so much better than the 3.8.
6/7/2015 7:34:43 PM
Probably not what most of you are interested in but the 2015 Jeep Renegade looks cool albeit a little weird looking. 4x4 turbo charged 6 speed manual for under $20k new. http://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/why-everyones-going-nuts-over-the-2015-jeep-renegade-1535915529

Hey if you want a 6 speed turbo charged Fiat that can go off road for under $20k!
8/24/2015 1:57:52 PM
why is that in here... it's not a JK i guess it does have 4 doors..... but get that over grown 500 outta here.
8/25/2015 7:49:50 AM
Don't remember why I posted it. But yeah it's basically a mutated 500.
8/25/2015 10:25:48 AM
20's on a jeep? the only reason you should have 20's is because you're running a 42" KM2 where that's the only size it comes in.
