The outside rear tire is a good 3-4" taller than the inside rear tire, and the tires are practically flat. The driver constantly has to fight the steering wheel just to keep it going in a straight line. These cars are designed to do one thing - turn left under full throttle.

If you get out of a car on an active track, expect to get hit. This event sucks for everyone involved and it was 100% preventable by following safety guidelines and staying in the car.

I don't know a goddamn thing about racing but the most shocking thing for me watching the video was the kid getting out of the car and walking into the middle of the track. I would have been surprised if he didn't get hit.

Reminds me of an incident recently where a young man was shot by an officer after a scuffle. Lots of should haves and could haves. In the end, one man dies and the other has to deal with it.

is there anything else in common with the two besides someone dying?

Hair extensions were stolen also; I'm pretty sure someone at the dirt track had hair extensions.

On the night of his death, Ward Jr. had gotten out of his car and was aggressively marching toward Stewart's car -- when he was struck. Now we know drug tests on the body produced proof Ward was under the influence of marijuana."

And causes other people to spontaneously run over you

Not that he wasn't a dumbass, and now we know doubly so, and I don't think Stewart intended to hit him...but I still tbinn Stewart was in the wrong, even with the mitigating circumstance of Ward being a dumbass and putting himself in a terribly poor position.

Was Ward under the influence of pot, or did he just have THC in his system?

Big difference.

Either way I didn't think any charges should have been brought against Stewart.

"“There is toxicology evidence in the case relating to Kevin Ward that actually indicated that at time of operation he was under the influence of marijuana,” District Attorney Michael Tantillo said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon."

"“The levels that were determined were enough to impair judgment,” Tantillo said."

The toxicology report seems to indicate that he was actually high while driving, but who knows if he was impaired enough to matter.

If he was under the influence of pot why was he so agitated?

I don't think people are saying it made him "mad" bc they are dumbasses if they do...I think they are saying it impaired his judgement, response time and probably his reasoning skills.

I'm going to guess he was mad because his car ran into the wall, not because he ingested marijuana prior to the race.
