I have a similar conversation time to time...if I could pick just one food ethnicity to eat for the rest of my life which would it be?My feeling is that in that situation if I am worried about getting staying in shape I would pick Japanese. If I'm not worried about getting fat, I go Mexican

I dunno, i guess it's just the perception. I associate pork and beans with hot dogs and potato chips.
5/6/2014 3:19:17 PM
^personally I hate baked beans, regardless of how they're served or with what meal.

^Everything in Australia is expensive, not just the meat. I did have a kangaroo steak while I was there though and it was very tasty! Kangaroo meat is actually one of the cheaper meats there since kangaroos don't have any natural predators and their population will get really high if they aren't hunted.

FWIW you can get a 3 course steak dinner for two and a bottle of Malbec in Argentina for around $25. I was there in January and the conversion rate was something crazy like 11:1 if you knew where to go.

i love beansi hate beans in a sugary nasty tomato sauce

Put me down for Argentina. Definitely a flair of Italian and Spain as mentioned but their beef is better than anything you'll find in Europe.

corn finished beef tastes better; they're just getting with the times.

Yeah I've had beef from Argentina, Brazil, and Japan, but the US still produces the best cow hands down.[Edited on May 6, 2014 at 7:27 PM. Reason : haven't had Aussie beef, but whatever, I doubt it's better]

Pakistan has some good beef. Their meat exports are growing year over year.

if you don't think japan has the best beef, its only because of your lack of education/experience.[Edited on May 7, 2014 at 1:46 AM. Reason : ^theyre just doing that to piss off india]

this is a BMS 12 steak in japan, the highest quality ratingi wonder how much that steak costs at the butcher's shop, and how much in a restaurant. any ideas?my guess, $100-$150 in the shop, $300-$500 at a restaurant.[Edited on May 7, 2014 at 2:23 AM. Reason : ]

I'd certainly try a steak like that, and I'm sure it would be super tender. But generally speaking, too much fat for me.[Edited on May 7, 2014 at 2:36 AM. Reason : im no expert though]
5/7/2014 2:32:27 AM
fat has more to do with flavor than anything. tenderness is a separate issue. i'll take a well-marbled ribeye or strip steak any day over a filet, but that's just me. if you really want tender, ahi tuna steaks win in my book.
5/7/2014 2:42:37 AM
yeah equivalent to a stick of butter there

this looks better, and is considered betterishigaki-gyu sushi (raw beef from cows from ishigaki)i really want to try it.
5/7/2014 3:27:56 AM
Honest question here: Why is bacteria and stuff that can get you sick more common in raw beef than fish? People over here have no trouble eating raw fish in sushi but I don't see a raw beef trend catching on any time soon.

I'll say US, for variety, like everybody else said. Benin mistrusts foreign cuisine (although it has gleefully incorporated foreign plants and animals into its diet over the past centuries), and it's the worst part about living here. Peru had a really good food scene as well, at least Lima/Cuzco. Some of the best Chinese and Japanese food I've had, and the native Peruvian stuff ranged from the decent (potatoes all the time!) to the quite excellent (ceviche)

I have been to:Italy (Naples, Rome)France (Marsielle, Grasse, Monaco, Paris, Niece, Cannes)Greece (Rhodes, Crete)BahrainDubaiFood in Greece was by far my favorite not to mention, the people were way nicer.I would put France next then Dubai (only because the food I had there wasn't native, but it was so goooood)Italy was okay. Pizza was the best there by a LONG SHOT.I was never a big seafood eater till I moved to Washington state and I love going to Seattle and eating all the seafood I can get.[Edited on May 7, 2014 at 10:28 PM.
