"There is talk of a new astrologer who wants to prove that the earth moves and goes around instead of the sky, the sun, the moon, just as if somebody were moving in a carriage or ship might hold that he was sitting still and at rest while the earth and the trees walked and moved. But that is how things are nowadays: when a man wishes to be clever he must needs invent something special, and the way he does it must needs be the best! The fool wants to turn the whole art of astronomy upside-down. However, as Holy Scripture tells us, so did Joshua bid the sun to stand still and not the earth."

While we're at it, why don't you assholes debate Jehovah's witnesses as well?I was raised catholic, and personally I found it damaging... Christian or not. I've found most religions to be damaging as well to the individual outlier who does not fit neatly within the confines of that religion's core tenets. I have little faith in others to lead me spiritually, as their vision for me is clouded with their own personal interests. Now? Agnostic because simply...I don't know. Being atheist is to clearly state that there is no god or higher power and is, in my opinion, extremely narcissistic. In my jaded opinion, there are an awful lot of southern baptists that would be clearly destined for hell if such a concrete place could exist.

Has anyone mentioned Christian Science yet? Definitely not Christian.Only some Catholics are Christians, if you think it's all you need to see how it's practiced in more places. [Edited on April 20, 2014 at 9:00 AM. Reason : .]

This thread makes me facepalm Catholics/Orthodox Church are the original Christians the fact that anyone argues that they may not be Christians instantly makes them a moron. Now Mormons..... I guess they believe in Christ but they made up their own separate rule book... Sorta like Christians believing and god but rolled out the New Testament... I mean I no longer consider Christians Jews so I don't think Mormons are Christians either.[Edited on April 20, 2014 at 9:53 AM. Reason : .]

Leave the US and see what Catholicism looks like when you mix in local religion. Their previous gods become saints which the people still worship. Also, you criticize Mormons for adding to the bible, are you not aware that the Catholic bible is different than the protestant bible? The Catholic bible has more books than the protestant bible .[Edited on April 20, 2014 at 9:59 AM. Reason : .]

Lol who did the Protestants protest dude...Those books were there before Protestants sooo.... They deleted books not the Catholics added them... Right?I consider myself non denominational but I like Lutheran churches. And the additional books don't rattle the very core of the religion.
4/20/2014 10:08:19 AM
Eh. Yeah. What of it? The Protestants just decided they wanted to ignore the apocryphal books so they didn't include them. Piss on the poor bastards who want to debate whether Catholics are Christian. Piss on the poor bastards who want to debate the validity of any so-called Christian sect. Piss on all of you who bicker and pass judgment rather than live by the examples the Christ has set before you. Bunch of goddamn hypocrites. Ignorant hypocrites. Very, very few churches and their congregations take up the practical examples and teachings of Jesus, but seek to proclaim the mere acceptance of him as lord and savior from a literal hell of their own imagining, all the while seeking to chastise the validity of the paths of the "nonbelievers"...and who was it who chose to walk among thieves and prostitutes, who chose the fallen to carry his word, to carry out his tasks and teachings?I might have been raised catholic. I might have been baptized in a free will baptist church. But it was not until I shrugged them away and stood by myself that I felt truly spiritually free and alive.

it is a silly argument, because all religion is terrible and organized Christianity is the worst

Whats the only thing wrong with a southern baptist? They don't hold 'em under long enough! haha!

YesNoBaptized Lutheran, but I've never attended church regularly. In fact, I've been to more Jewish services in the past 10 years than Christian services. (2 Bar Mitzvahs, 2 Bat Mitzvahs, and the multiple services involved therein.)
