"I listened to that last song. Its pretty cool man. Your banjo playing is pretty dope. I listened to some of your other songs as well and it sounds like you've definitely improved your recording technique quite a bit. I'm not sure if you did a separate vocal track, but it still sounds like its all live which is essential IMO for folk/bluegrass."

Hey, thanks a bunch for the feedback and the interest. It is much appreciated! You are correct; I have definitely spent some time tweaking with the recording and producing techniques over the last couple of months. Most of them are done live, which is something that I also prefer. Actually, most bluegrass/folk bands still to this day do live, one mic recordings, because it just seems to give a more cohesive sound to the record. But, one take and one mic recordings take a lot of practice to get down perfectly. Recording stuff on my own has made me respect some of my favorite bands and musicians even more, because I have come to realize how much practice and dedication it takes to get something all together in one take.

there are about three other threads dedicated to that topic.

But, if you listen to a song and post some feedback, then I guess that I will have no choice but to let you digress.

Not that my opinion counts for much on TWW, but I think your banjo skills are dope.

every opinion counts on TWW. Thanks man. I am trying to work something out with my singing such that it compliments without being too off pitch. I know that it is never going to be anything stellar, but a lot of folk/country/bluegrass singers get away with variations of talking blues, and that is what I am trying to figure out at the moment.

I'm not a man, but you're welcome!

^That last one is a super fun song.
You may have answered this question earlier ITT but have you ever tried recording the instruments first and then laying down the vocals? How long have you been singing? Playing and singing at the same time is really tough. You were right earlier though when you talked about how much pitch can vary in bluegrass music, though. I sing harmony for my dad's bluegrass band sometimes and I love when I get to sing the tenor part 'cause I can just toss those notes up into oblivion and then let them settle where they're supposed to. lol

Haha, sorry. Thanks again for the listen. I have been singing for a while, but recording for about six months. It helps a little bit to play and sing at the same time as I can use the banjo as a crutch. But the problem with doing it that way is that you can not edit at bad notes.

Been a while since I last posted an update. So, here is one with a quasi Claw Hammer style that I have been experimenting with.

A cute little song about romance. I feel like the singing and recording is getting a bit better, but the singing is surely still a ways off.

Anyways, I found an open mic place here in Muenster that I am gonna give a try. Also, I will compile a list of songs for an album soon. I just got one more that I want to include.

Well guys, I finally did it. I finally wrote a song about my fucked up relationship. I always vowed as a songwriter that I would never take a dip into this pool, but here I am writing songs about money, hoes, and rims again.
