It needs to be noted that there is a difference between a really gross bar people in their late 20's enjoy going to and a gross bar. There was a bar called Jackies 5th Amendment on a gentrified stretch in Park Slope that wasn't even fun to be in. The same sad fuckers were there everyday from 8am onwards and this crazy lady would yell at people who tried to touch the jukebox. It just smelled like death and crushed dreams. Im sure the scene hadn't changed in 3 decades. It recently shut down and the pharmacy next door is expanding.also Philly has a huge number of dive bars that are extremely sad. I remember one of my friends mentioning The Pickled Onion before...but I thought that they said it was a nicer kind of place.
