What's the average weight in the US? I'm guessing 160-170lbs?

Females average 156lbs per the NYP

http://nypost.com/2012/11/23/americans-are-getting-fatter-poll/

This is funny:

Quote :
"North America has 6% of the world population but 34% of biomass due to obesity...One tonne of human biomass corresponds to approximately 12 adults in North America and 17 adults in Asia. If all countries had the BMI distribution of the USA, the increase in human biomass of 58 million tonnes would be equivalent in mass to an extra 935 million people of average body mass, and have energy requirements equivalent to that of 473 million adults."

"begonias: Not really. Most studies on the pill (not the shot or other methods) do not support the claim that it makes you gain weight. Most people put on weight as they grow older and go through puberty (aka the time when many girls begin taking the pill). I have read a few studies on how the pill may make some people more hungry, but if you choose to stuff your face then of course you're going to gain weight."

That's what I'm saying though.

I'm not suggesting it makes people magically gain weight, like they start using energy differently than before. I'm saying it makes me--and some other people--really hungry. And being hungry all the time sucks, regardless of whether or not you choose to stuff your face.

And this does need to be addressed more seriously. Supposedly a whole bunch of women are overweight, and that's pretty bizarre given how obsessed we presumably are with our bodies.

Also, I'm astonished at how quick people are to dismiss this issue, especially doctors. Something's not right. I mean, you were pretty outspoken about the dangers of fish oil supplements, but you've really got nothing to say about hormonal birth control?

An empirical study would have reflected that

I hear ya. And the absence of such studies is the primary reason I run my mouth about it.

The studies she mentioned are probably empirical

^^Yup, I know. I should have been more clear: the absence of studies that support my point of view is why I run my mouth about it.

No, she has not established cuntiness within this interaction.

If she PMed you with some catty bullshit about how this was "just an excuse fat chicks use to justify their weight gain," (your quote)...then she would be a cunt.

My previous remark about cunts had nothing to do with science. It was a basic assessment of human behavior. And, according to your response, I was right on.
