I don't know...You might be right about the S2000 (if it's not 2 feet it's damn close), but it doesn't look like you are about the BRZ.You might be right about the S2000 (if it's not 2 feet it's damn close), but it doesn't look like you are about the BRZ.]
12/4/2013 12:55:09 PM
if those are to scale, then the leading edge of the BRZ is 35.47" off the ground and it is 21" to the top of the license plate on the S2000 and 24.1" to where the hood starts[Edited on December 4, 2013 at 12:59 PM. Reason : from my quick scaling takeoff]
12/4/2013 12:56:35 PM
For good measure
12/4/2013 1:16:13 PM
27" to front edge of hood Edit:I just realized I made a typo for the BRZ, its 25.47" not 35.47 to the leading edge (and 26.9" to the front edge of the hood )[Edited on December 4, 2013 at 1:41 PM. Reason : BRZ typo]
12/4/2013 1:37:59 PM
The requirement is you have to make sure a pedestrian doesn't crack their head on the engine block.Flat engines like the brz or engines set way back like the s2000 aren't affected by these standards.
12/4/2013 1:51:28 PM
Alright then amend my statement to say 3 feet. That Mustang's hood towers above the BRZ & S2000 (I was just eyeballing the Mustang's dimensions from the pics anyway). My mistake. ^fully aware of the EU bullshit. Doesn't mean it has to be that bloated.
12/4/2013 2:07:34 PM
I'm actually doubtful of the accuracy of those drawings. The S2000 in the photo is an AP1 model, which comes equipped with 16" wheels. Using that size wheel as your scale and that puts the S2000's leading edge at under 20". According to Tirerack.com the OEM tire's overall diameter is right at 25".I should have said 3 feet for the Mustang synapse, nice try but my Integra is a DA [Edited on December 4, 2013 at 2:14 PM. Reason : i meant 3 feet ]
12/4/2013 2:10:51 PM
You can measure the integra when you get home can't you (assuming you haven't lowered it, which you probably have)
12/4/2013 2:23:31 PM
i could dimension the oblique 2015 mustang photos, but I'm not spending the time on having to setup planes and shit. Find a pic straight on from the front or side and I'll tell you the hood height. [Edited on December 4, 2013 at 2:36 PM. Reason : .]
12/4/2013 2:35:57 PM
It's lowered, about an inch I think Nonetheless I'll tell you the height.
12/4/2013 3:06:52 PM
12/4/2013 3:44:30 PM
It's funny the door looks the same as the current gen with a new wide body nose and ass.
12/4/2013 5:40:04 PM
The hood looks like a more aggressive evolution of the SN-95 hood.
12/4/2013 5:44:34 PM
hold on lemme rice it up[Edited on December 4, 2013 at 5:46 PM. Reason : ]

lots more picshttp://www.motorauthority.com/news/1088868_2015-ford-mustang-the-real-thing-leaked
12/5/2013 7:43:05 AM
Interior looks way better, but I wonder about the driving position with the wheel & pedals (formerly a sore spot).
12/5/2013 8:13:40 AM
So far this is the first Mustang I have ever considered owning, and I'll be due for a new car in early 2015. I'm definitely going to be checking out a EcoBoost model with a sport package and manual transmission to consider as a next car, which is weird for me because I usually have no interest in these. (If I get one, the mustang logo on the grill is getting trashed on the first day though)
12/5/2013 9:16:56 AM
^ So the Integra, even before the lowering, was the only car you've owned that meets your earlier 2 feet rule
12/5/2013 9:31:19 AM
Yeah apparently my previous notion of what these heights are was way the fuck off
12/5/2013 9:55:00 AM
If the wheels on the model in this picture are 20" wheels:http://gizmodo.com/fords-new-mustang-designed-for-the-future-without-ig-1477345090then the leading edge is about 24.6" off the ground. the picture isn't exactly straight-on, but it looks like its pretty comparable to the BRZ. (Ford says the hood is 1.25" lower than the last model, but I don't know at what points its 1.25" lower.)Regardless, its a pretty attractive profileEDIT:I think the Mustang pic is actually skewed away or something, because this doesn't look right. The front dimension is probably pretty close if the wheels are 20", but its probably only the front of the car that is close to accurate.[Edited on December 5, 2013 at 4:25 PM. Reason : .]
12/5/2013 4:08:20 PM
^lol, hats off for effort but that's nowhere near correct. The BRZ is around 18 shorter than the current Mustang.I thought they said overall the car is 1.25" lower, which I take to meant roof. The hood line is definitely way high.[Edited on December 5, 2013 at 4:27 PM. Reason : k]
12/5/2013 4:26:10 PM
12/5/2013 4:27:54 PM
Thanks.I guess the hood looks higher since it's flatter maybe? Here's the current mustang compared to the BRZ. The height difference is huge.[Edited on December 5, 2013 at 4:29 PM. Reason : i know it's one of the concepts, looking for the production one]
12/5/2013 4:29:12 PM
this one's better:
12/5/2013 4:33:25 PM
judging by that photo, my hood height dimension for the new one looks about right, should be comparable to the BRZSo the new mustang will be 5.7" longer than the BRZ and will have a comparable hood height. [Edited on December 5, 2013 at 4:48 PM. Reason : that seems pretty "sporty"]
12/5/2013 4:37:28 PM
I can't argue that
12/5/2013 4:55:42 PM
Why did the damn thing need to get even bigger? The GT already weighs 3700 lbs. I'd hold out for a turbo BRZ if I had the money. Looks good in red, though.
12/5/2013 7:25:31 PM
Wat? Its getting smaller and lighter.
12/5/2013 8:20:31 PM
12/6/2013 11:33:05 AM
If Honda made a rwd v8 accord with a manual I'd drive the shit out of it...

^likewise
12/6/2013 11:46:37 AM
12/6/2013 1:44:50 PM
Sure would be nice if Ford would reintroduce the Thunderbird as a larger coupe, thus relieving the Mustang of having to be large enough to work as Ford's only coupe model. Remember when the Mustang was the smallest coupe Ford offered??? (yeah yeah yeah it's the smallest one now too since it's the only one )
12/6/2013 2:03:25 PM
Fuck you. You can take that nonsense and shove it!!!The t bird should go back to its roots as a vette fighter.Lol I'm sensitive on this aspect as the t bird used to wax some vette ass on the road courses in the 50s.

12/6/2013 2:37:14 PM
12/6/2013 2:41:43 PM
I wish they'd take this chassis, add 2 doors and sell it as a Falcon. I'd buy one.
12/6/2013 2:50:34 PM
^^^ I know, but the new one is pretty similar in length, although a bit lower. I just had a thought that with my Integra's front-biased weight distribution, it would have the same weight on the front tires as a car weighing about 3300 lbs. with 50/50 weight. That makes a 4-cylinder Mustang sound more appealing, but a turbo BRZ even more appealing.
12/6/2013 3:39:53 PM
No its not, its 15" shorter.by comparison o the BRZ we have already determined that it will be 5.7" longer than the BRZ with a very similar hood height. That's not huge.
12/6/2013 4:50:36 PM
There's no way this Mustang is 15" shorter than the current model.
12/6/2013 5:44:13 PM
^^Wait what? The BRZ is 166.7" long while the new Mustang is .2" shorter than the existing (according to Autoblog. Edmunds also says the length is "essentially unchanged"), which is 188.5". The BRZ is ~22" shorter than the new Mustang. How did you come to the 5.7" number?[Edited on December 6, 2013 at 6:09 PM. Reason : I've used the length numbers provided by the manufacturers' websites]
12/6/2013 6:05:01 PM
edmunds, but now they are saying the length you quoted. looks like they reported on rumors.
12/6/2013 6:47:51 PM
Regardless of what some website says or said, there is no way any car gets shortened by 15 INCHES from one generation to the next. Might have happened in the 80s and 90s, but I don't think it has happened in the last 15-20 years.
12/6/2013 7:17:26 PM
Ford Thunderbird 10th gen- 200.3 inches longFord Thunderbird 11th gen- 186.3 inches long14 inches shorter in 2002
12/6/2013 8:29:58 PM
^To be fair those two generations were noncontiguous. There was no Thunderbird from '98 to '01.
12/6/2013 8:33:17 PM
He didn't say they needed to be, I just gave him the obvious quick answer
12/6/2013 8:35:42 PM
I am sure a couple of examples exist, such as the Thunderbird, but obviously it pretty much never happens in modern cars. I wish it did, though!
