I'm surprised they didn't do the Miley Cyrus Show, with Vanessa Bayer as Miley, and have Miley as a guest...although iirc they did that another time Miley was on and Miley played Bieber

Yep.

Also I'm guessing this will be the last we see of her Miley impression; it has no resemblance to the actual target anymore.

That Gaga was just window dressing for a typically brilliant McKinnon impression.

They have always reused the commercials.

I think they played the Colon Blow commercial at least 3 times.

Yes, they've always reused commercials...to cover elaborate stage moves/costume changes early in shows later on in the season.

Using the 10-to-1 (though usually 5/3-to-1 these days) slot to rerun a commercial in episode three is not good.

A couple of bumps were really long, including two with the band vamping, so I think the show was really, really short (see throwing up six straight Jenner gags) and they didn't have anything else. That second pre-tape with the beer pong rules seemed like a natural 10-to-1 that ran earlier than originally planned.

Mostly garbage outside of McKinnon.

That Michael Kors impression was fucking terrible in every way imaginable.

Not accurate, but not funny in its inaccuracy. Farcical, not comical.

How the fucking fuck did that make it to air?

Bruce Willis cannot seem to finish a sentence. Why was he so shifty? Very awkward to watch.

Yeah. She's not feeling the need to prop up every joke, so when she does twist the delivery a little, it lands a lot better.

Bruce Willis just isn't a good live/stage actor. I mean, he's not even really that great of an actor. He's like Julia Roberts.

I realize her costume was not for me, but I didn't like it. It was dated/cheap in an unfun way.

For her previous appearance, she totally embraced the cheesiness, and it was way better:

how do they have a great actor like Ed Norton on and the first half of the show is abysmal

i'll admit i didn't tune in until about 11:50 so maybe it was really awesome through the monologue and first 2 skits!

All hits aside from Steve Harvey Show (meh) and Ruth's Chris (dreadful).

12 Days Not a Slave was a little rough, but the performances made it. Extra props to Aidy Bryant for a mug to rival Moynihan's farter in the premiere.

Pumpkin spice douche!

The first 35 minutes were pretty solid last night.

Kenan does a terrible Charles Barkley impression. The Shaq impression was funny, but not really good either.

The Miss Universe skit with 3rd world country additions was kinda fucked up.

Not a big fan of the blonde Cher wig, and her microphone looked like a retainer.

Good sound for SNL though, considering it generally blows.

The Gaga/Madonna bit was great.

ROBERT KELLY!

Taran just slayed the entire episode with that speech critic bit.

He did that, I was fucking dying during that bit.

I thought it was a strong episode. The Rob Ford cold open was pretty good, I loved Gaga's monologue/song, the Kimye sketch was pretty good...Gaga's first performance with R Kelly was weird, 2nd one was good though. Gaga in the future was also a standout for me.

Pretty much ^ this.

Overall I thought it was a great episode. Lady Gaga delivered an excellent performance though the musical acts were a little odd. I guess that's to be expected from her.

I didn't like it that much, as a whole. The turkey sketch was reallllly long, and terrible...the guy with the body of a baby was quite funny though, I liked the 80's song sketch too. I thought the Bugs sketch was ok too.

I had honestly never heard of Josh Hutcherson until they announced he was going to host

he was fine, but they didn't write anything for him to showcase in

the Mike O'Brien Bugs video gets an A++, though

solid episode in which they let the cast shine as opposed to worrying about the host

I got a question for the experts, which may be stupid, but i'm gonna ask it anyways: How common is it for the performers to lip sync? My gf claims they're always doing it, but i argue that that can't be true, and bring up all the controversy that surrounded the Ashlee Simpson incident.... but when watching Lady Gaga last weekt, when she was on the piano, i felt almost certain she just mouthing the words, it looked bad.

They're not a very stylish band.

I'm just not seeing what's codified or stereotypical about Haim. They're halfway between Kate Bush and Mariah Carey, which is an odd place to be.
