i wish there was a men's shoe thread, haha. went to a few stores and can't find anything decent for my dude.

Ecco has some nice men's shoes. Browse their site to get an idea and I'm sure you can find some similar ones cheaper if they are too pricey.

I realize this thread is about how you can't get a girl....which I do not dispute. Hear me out, maybe I can offer some insight.I am in outside sales, which is currently salary+commission, but will move into straight commission starting at the beginning of July 2010. I have been in this position since July 2009. I have competition from several direct manufacturing sales reps, large distributors, and local distributors. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each:Direct Advantages: Immediate knowledge of new technology, no middle man mark up, one shipping bill (paid by manufacturer or buyer of goods), access to larger range of non-commodity items, control inventory, have access to many distributors that can effectively sell their goods which increases market share, and set prices of commodity they manufacture.Direct disadvantages: Typically have 1-3 sales reps per region (i.e. southeast, mid-atlantic, northeast, etc.) limiting the number of accounts they can successfully manage/cold-call, lack physical customer service or physical technical service available to or affordable for smaller users or altogether, are sometimes not trustworthy because they will go in behind their distributors that sell their commodity to one account in large quantities (i.e. they missed a big account, and have found out about it through a distributor selling their particular product) which leads to the distributor not selling their product anymore, have too many distributors selling the product ultimately driving the set price down through deviations, possibly rely on distributors to actually sell the product, and competition from other direct sources.Large distributor advantages: have access to other commodities that go hand in hand with other manufacturers (poor example- grocery stores sell milk as well as cereal), get direct pricing, many locations regionally or nationally easing the shipping burden of buyers with multiple locations, personal service either customer or technical, many sales reps that are able to cover a broader territory, access to multiple manufacturers of the same commodity allowing to keep prices in check, service programs that smaller companies can't offer and direct providers can't match in price or value, and experts of many many commodities as opposed to one or a few.Large distributor disadvantages: smaller local distributors creating price wars (think Michael Scott Paper Co vs Dunder-Mifflin), direct mfg's going in behind and stealing business, limited access to all of the mfg's (you won't find Harris Teeter name brands in Food Lion and visa versa), can't truly set prices because it's based on both supply and demand, territory management, and tough growth prospects in slower economies (this is true for direct as well really)Local distributor advantages: Typically a good ol' boy setting where the seller and the buyer know each other for years (this does happen at all levels, but mostly at the local level), local folks are right down the street and can be used in emergencies, if the local guy buys at high enough volumes then there is no shipping charge to the end user, and access to both direct mfg's and large distributors.Local distributor disadvantages: easily beaten in price, array of commodities, array of technology, lack of trained staff, low cash flow, etc etc etc. This is what I have noticed in my six months, I am sure there are plenty more that need mentioning. The way I am setting myself apart as a sales person is this: I go after the big accounts right now while I am new. The big accounts, if I land them, will take care of me while I am new and building a customer base. The money made off of those allows me to focus free time on smaller accounts that get me higher margins. I build up big accounts, I would like to have 5-10 of these, then get 20-30 medium accounts. If I lose 1 or 2 big accounts, the 20-30 medium accounts keep me afloat while I go after new big accounts. I don't really waste time on small accounts simply because they basically pay for breakfast or something really small.I will say this, if you can't get a big account in the first 6-8 months (assuming you have cash flow that you can ride this long) you could be in a world of trouble. If you can get one, it will really make going after the others a lot more enjoyable and less stressful. It's simply just very exhausting wasting any time on anything other than big accounts in the very beginning. You work just as hard on the medium sized accounts and see 1/3 to 1/36 of the money in my situation. If you have any other questions, you can PM me. I hope this helps in the slightest!

steve madden? ecco? WTF guise?! I thought we were talking about shoes to wear with shorts?! lemme break it down for you. here's an outline man shoes (if you live in the south): -rainbows (not a shitty knock off)-sperrys (not a shitty knock off)-gym shoes (that you actually wear to the gym - take care of yo shit and work the fuck out)-NB 993 (because you need the extra height - do not wear these to the gym and get them all sweaty and stinky and scuffed to hell)-dress shoe for work (steve maddens can be acceptable if you're a chump on a budget, but there are better options like cole haan loafers)-dressier shoe for special occasions[Edited on September 14, 2013 at 10:39 PM. Reason : jazon I hate you]

If you are single or not in talks with some mark ass trick, then you are either, not social, way to snobby and your expectations are to high for your personality and pockets, or you come off as a queer that just stays in the friend zone.
9/14/2013 10:44:05 PM
Ecco makes casual shoes. They look a lot like old school Pumas, which are also acceptable to wear with shorts as long as you have the no-show socks.
9/14/2013 10:57:53 PM
I honestly dont think I come off as an entitled asshat at all, usually the exact opposite...and its kinda funny but I should just stop begoniaa with the fashion advice, I wear exactly what you have in mind already[Edited on September 14, 2013 at 11:21 PM. Reason : nt]

oh lookfashionif a girl was that shallow about brand names, drop her quick
9/14/2013 11:41:30 PM
I pretty much only wear sandals during the spring/summer (rainbows). During the fall/winter I wear black slip-ons or oxfords.Something like these. I pretty much buy a new pair every year. Need to go shoe shopping soon actually.

the guy did not find an example of any of those brands that he liked. i told him to just get another pair of merrells and shut up already.
9/15/2013 12:15:02 AM
Had the same problem with the SO and shorts. Everything other than some Oakley cargo shorts were "too frat boyish." Including everything at H&M and several department stores.

I don't think you're shallow, but your posts to this thread have come off as shallow. You talked about height, stereotyped women by the sports they play and whether or not you find them in bars, and wrote a lot about clothes. So far, your advice has been that he's too short to wear flip flops and Steve Madden shoes are only acceptable if he's a "chump on a budget."I'm just sayin.
9/15/2013 12:52:31 AM
i agree with the "dress nice" partbut a faded glory polo vs lacoste is meh
9/15/2013 1:12:06 AM

9/15/2013 1:25:59 AM
omg are you wearing name brand shoes?!
9/15/2013 1:27:47 AM
Do you really look at the brand of a mans shoes? I hope this is a troll. Dude don't listen to the materialistic bullshit itt. Find a woman that takes you for you. If you have to reinvent yourself to get her, enjoy spending the rest of your life being fake to keep her. I'd rather be me and single, thank fake in a relationship.
9/15/2013 1:29:50 AM
if both of us are shallow, we can get together and make a deep end!
9/15/2013 1:31:10 AM
I have worn black, low top Dr Martens for at least the last 15 years. Summer and winter. I have like a dozen pairs that I never throw away for some reason. I am married with two boys, but I never seemed to have much trouble getting women back before I met my wife. Having been out of the game for a while I have no suggestions for picking up chicks, however, I strongly recommend this footwear. You're welcome.
9/15/2013 1:35:05 AM
$100 shoes for a chump on a budget.. I thought we was buddies linda I wouldn't be caught dead in any of the whack shit you listed thoughflip flops? what kinda grown assed man wears flip flopsthe only "quality" items i wear are my watch and my shoes most days. hasn't seemed to affect the girl quotient, though I will say, none of them are relationship material
9/15/2013 2:16:47 AM
I must be the only girl who doesn't really care if a guy wears cargo shorts but I usually go for the nerdy guys anyway. I do draw the line at jean shorts though lolGet involved with hobbies/things you like and just have fun and flirt. Guys who play the asshole are a definite turn off.

These are not just any cargo shorts, they have a decent size Oakley logo embroidered on the side. Guys, this is not a good idea.
9/15/2013 9:52:47 AM
My advice go to graduate school or go to a place that grad students go to.
9/15/2013 10:24:47 AM
omg i wear NB 993's!!(not for fashion of course... but because they are MIA!)
9/15/2013 11:24:15 AM
Can I wear nb 993s to hardcore shows? Also what's the turn around on snatch after I pick these babies up? I'm Krallum and I approved this message
9/15/2013 11:37:39 AM
Wait. So when did wearing new balance shoes become panty droppers?
9/15/2013 11:50:47 AM
I have found that being direct and assertive with girls works wonders. Don't be afraid to start a conversation with them, and when and if you do, try to have some swag: Make a girl laugh, complement her, and try to engage her on a personal level without being obvious about it. Girls love connecting with guys, and a lot of them will totally fall for the trap of telling them your secrets and desires without knowing it.Most of all, it just takes a lot of practice to develop the ability to talk to and engage women. So, go out and practice. I think that going to a bar scene or night life is great for this, but just think twice before buying them a bunch of drinks and don't expect anything out of it.

Sneakers with a collared shirt? Really? That's a mismatch right there.Anyway, as others have said, be yourself, or be prepared to fake it for the rest of your life, unless of course, you end up having a makeover and become a new you by adopting a new fashion sense which becomes you.
9/15/2013 12:22:14 PM
My very stuck up elitist fashion opinionDon't wear shorts. 50 years ago men wore suits all day everyday. If you're going somewhere where there are other people and you're going to socialize, you should probably wear pants. Also no low tops, low top dress shoes are like short sleeve button ups. Wear boots.
9/15/2013 12:24:33 PM
my only opinion on fashion is that i like girls that look good, so i try to look goodand everyone has an opinion on what looks good
9/15/2013 12:50:19 PM
on the real, just be yourself and go meet people.I met my wife at skeeball. Want to know one of the first things I said to her? "Holy shit what in the hell is wrong with your elbow?" Her and her friend (who practice yoga), were comparing how their elbows hyperextend. Want to know my first compliment to her? "Hey your head looks different." Another friend of hers, who is a militant feminist, was sitting next me and asked what I meant. I told her that I meant that I noticed she had straightened her hair and it looked good. While my words weren't smooth, I was myself, and after a few dates she liked that I was not a fake douchebag. 2 years later we got married. AND BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE. (and yes I had PTSD, and no I've never been abusive).

Never realized I needed shoes that make me taller...but now I'm starting to think I doBegonias..does the collared shirt have to be tucked in to the khakis? Want to make sure I get this right[Edited on September 15, 2013 at 1:36 PM. Reason : .]
