Sounds like he already did champs.

Münster is pretty sweet. I had a professor/colleague who spent a lot of time there working and teaching at the university. He does a lot of research on transportation, specifically bicycles. More trips in Münster are taken by bikes than cars, which is kind of mind blowing.

I'd much rather live in Germany than NC, minus their crap weather.

I don't speak the language, which could pose some problems, but at least the people in the food service industry would also recognize how shitty NC's politics are.

you can't just move to another country. they won't let you in without the proper skillset, connections, or money. or you could join the french foreign legion.

i mean you could move to somalia probably, but no one is saying the US is worse than somalia

I'm glad I mourned this political stuff in advance. Every other person I meet is "ashamed" to live in North Carolina now; I'm tempted to shed the last of my social skills and just blurt out Kenny Powers quotes.

haven't you heard? being ashamed to live in NC is incredibly popular these days. i say join the impending exodus and GTFO, that way you can be smug/proud that you left. it'll make a great story at a cocktail party or when youre in line at a German ice cream parlor.

I'm ashamed of the actions of a bunch of assholes that I didn't vote for passing a bunch of laws that I have no control over. Seems legit, right?

why would i be ashamed to live in nc? not my fault we're run by nearly-retarded people

or that we're among the dumbest and fattest states

Most people in North Carolina are pleased with GOP. Watching the news and reading a college message board is a poor representation. Being like Texas is a good thing, way better than being like California and a lot of the northeast.

Did my fellow North Carolinians feel this shameful about living in North Carolina like 10 or 15 years ago when we were a lot more backwards than we are now?

Implying that anyone on TWW is actually in college. Going back to school when you're 35 doesn't count, btw.

...and I'd rather live in West, Texas than Bhopal, India

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2013/07/abortion-bill-hurting-nc-republicans.html#more

Quote :
"-55% of voters are unhappy with the legislation that resulted in 70,000 North Carolinians losing their unemployment benefits earlier this month to only 29% who are supportive of it. There's strong opposition to this development by both independents (32/55) and Democrats (10/78).

-76% of voters think that companies engaged in fracking in North Carolina should have to disclose all the chemicals they inject into the ground with only 13% opposed. Republicans in the State Senate have been trying to exempt them from having to do so. There's a strong bipartisan consensus (81/13 among independents, 80/9 among Democrats, 68/18 among Republicans) that disclosure should be required.

-Voters think the ongoing Republican focus on Sharia Law is misplaced energy- just 17% think it's a pressing issue state government should address to 46% who think it is not with 37% not having an opinion either way, quite possibly an indication that they don't even know what it is. Even among Republicans only 23% think combating Sharia Law is an important priority.

All of this could come back to bite Republicans in next year's election. The GOP has an overall 35% approval rating for how it's running state government with 55% of voters disapproving. Democrats now lead the generic legislative ballot 51/42, the largest lead we've ever found for them since we started tracking this statistic.

Voters are so unhappy with the legislature that the protesters are coming out more popular. 47% have a favorable opinion of the folks who have been getting arrested protesting the General Assembly's actions to 40% with an unfavorable opinion and by a 47/41 margin voters say they have a higher opinion of the protestors than they do of the General Assembly. Those numbers may be a reflection of the sentiment North Carolinians hold by a 46/36 margin that the General Assembly is causing North Carolina 'national embarrassment.'"

And my guess would be in the last three weeks those numbers have dipped even more.

I only applied for jobs in Europe. I got an offer in England and one in Germany, and I took the one in Germany. It was very much my choice to get off of the continent.
