because you don't believe people should take their dogs anywhere, except *maybe* DIRECTLY to and from the vet or groomers we get itps: that article is stupid. there are responsible pet owners, which is not who that article is ranting against
7/23/2013 9:39:22 PM
no, just not take them into stores where they're not allowed to pee on the floorlike I said, I don't care if you leave them in your car because it's your responsibilityand that article is fine: the real problem is when people don't understand that they're the person being describedbecause your dog is a perfect angel to you and would never bother anyone else, ever
7/23/2013 11:29:16 PM
If your dog isn't potty trained, you shouldn't take him/her into a store. Again...common sense. My dog probably goes into about half the stores I run errands in. He mainly just can't go into grocery stores. Most of the stores let him behind the counters so they can give him treats and play with him. Its kinda awesome.

for all you people who don't think anything <80 is safe, you're flat out wrong. Average temps where I live are between 65-75 mostly year round and I usually park my car out on the street. It's HOT AS FUCK whenever I get in my car during the middle of the day, even if it's cool outside. That can't be good for your animal
7/25/2013 9:13:26 PM
^ Yeah seems like people think if it is X outside, it is only X+afewdegrees inside. Cars get pretty hot inside. Yes, I know people are saying to lower the windows a bit, a that helps, but there are so many factors. Sun or clouds? Tinted windows? Temperature? Volume of car? Materials inside car?And even it is cool, it is the ultraviolet rays that heat up the inside, which causes interior surfaces to radiate IR.[Edited on July 25, 2013 at 10:10 PM. Reason : ]

do you guys have the same car? lol
7/26/2013 5:00:02 PM
50% of the reason I purchased a 4runner recently was for the back window that rolls down so that my dog can chill with his head out the back.
7/26/2013 5:04:34 PM
My dog loves riding to the store with me. I make sure to park close to the door as possible so he can stick his head out the window and greet people.
7/27/2013 1:10:29 PM
I always look for a tree so I can park in the shade. Then I just let my tailgate window fly open. No one dares approach my dog anyways.
7/28/2013 1:41:35 AM
Jesus you morons are still arguing this? The answer is common fucking sense. If you leave your car for hours and have a black car yes you could fry your dog on a 70 degree day if its sunny out. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere I planned to leave the car for more than 15 minutes. One should also know their car, a new car with Insulated roof would be better than an old car or jeep without insulation on the roof. A jeep with a black hard top is about the worst thing I could imagine. But again the answer is common fucking sense.[Edited on July 28, 2013 at 3:27 AM. i was verbally assaulted by some white trash woman today for leaving my dog in my car...for 8 minutes...in the shade...with the windows rolled down...as I got out of the car I said to Sam, "don't jump out"...then I heard, "YOU KNOW THAT'S AGAINST THE LAW!!!"i say, "the windows are rolled down"she yells, "IT DOESN'T MATTER, IT'S ILLEGAL!!!"i say, "it's not illegal and the windows are rolled down"she yells, "YES IT IS!!!!" i say, "i don't know how you think it's against the law, especially since the windows are rolled down"she starts to yell something else then just walks off shaking her head...i was really surprised she didn't try to take him...she looked like the type
8/2/2013 10:09:44 PM
Left my lab and french bulldog in the truck with the windows half way down while I went into Dicks to grab some golf balls. They were asleep when I came back out....oh the horror
8/2/2013 10:13:39 PM
they were actually passed out from heat stroke...on the verge of death...you piece of shit
8/2/2013 10:16:04 PM
you people should be ashamed. dogs get separation anxiety when they are left in cars and that makes the head 30 times worse so they get heat comas that much qucker.

I have push-button ignition in my car, so I can just leave it running with the AC on and lock the doors with my key fob and not have to worry about it getting too hot, or the car getting stolen
8/3/2013 8:12:33 PM
I saw a poodle in a car at lowes today. It wasn't that hot and the window was cracked. But it was a poodle. So no fucks were given.

I bet that officer is hating life right now. That sucks.btw...I left work at lunch today and ran errands with my dog in the car (he goes to the office with me). It was awesome because it was in the low 70s and raining (no humidity). I don't think I was in any place longer than 5 minutes, but I was able to hit up two grocery stores, a wine/beer/liquor store, and change out a propane tank at the gas station. During the summer its a pain in the ass taking him home and then going out to get shit done...love the fall-like weather for being able to leave me dog in the car.

A little bit I guess...but it's been 95 and humid as fuck all week. Rain came in and it was 65 and chilly this morning. Hovering around 75 right now. Lovely.
8/15/2013 2:38:53 PM
I wonder if he's going to be charged with assault on a law enforcement officer
8/15/2013 2:41:57 PM
^ He should be, but he won't. I'll be very surprised if he ever sees a charge from this.
8/15/2013 3:51:36 PM
If it was a person it would have been open and shut manslaughter. But it's a dog and it was obviously an accident. The guy already feels like shit...no need to make it worse. I would go into a severe depression if I did something like that.He should honestly be fired because he's a fucking idiot. I don't know how you can forget a dog being in the car.
8/15/2013 4:16:11 PM
^ The flaw in your thinking is that:- If you or I injured or killed that dog we would be charged as if we assaulted/killed a police officer.- If you or I injured our own pet in a similar fashion we would be charged with an appropriate offense. Why does a police officer get a free pass from legal repurcussions? Nobody else gets off scott free just because they feel really bad. Getting fired is not punishment in the legal sense.[Edited on August 15, 2013 at 5:41 PM. Reason : l]

Even for the worst animal abuse cases (like Mike Vick type shit), the maximum penalty in NC is 8 months in jail (Susie's Law). And even in those cases, the judge can agree to community service instead. I would assume that a dog dying in a hot car wouldn't come anywhere close to maximum penalty status, as that is reserved for people that burn/electrocute/or otherwise torture animals.Keep in mind, Vick went to prison for a federal conspiracy charge of bankrolling a dogfighting operation, not the actual abuse itself.[Edited on August 21, 2013 at 11:58 AM. Some fucking shitheel left a couple of big barking dogs in his truck at Sushi Nine a couple weeks ago. The dogs were causing a ruckus and had actually somehow managed to turn on the headlights and roll the power windows down partway. I spat a gross loogie on the door handle and peaced out.

It was hot as fuck yesterday, but I had to pick up something at the grocery store after work. Parked the car in the shade, left the car running and maxed out the AC, ran inside and picked up the three items I needed, got back to the car....and my dog was asleep. Cruel and unusual punishment.
