Considering the book only lasted 4 days, I'm sure they had to change some characters significantly to give them more back story/mystery.

Seems like for me, one of the biggest deviations is Juniors mental state at the beginning. I saw him as someone who deteriorated over time, but seemed kinda ok at the beginning.

well in that case maybe we should compromise and have a [book talk] tag for this thread?

i liked it quite a bit. some of it was a little corny, but i think that's to be expected with summer scifi drama type shows. something about it reminds me of jericho a little bit. the part about the cow having no rumen did bother me a little, but i figured the general public probably wouldn't care.

i don't think you are clear on what that term means.

i really hope they don't try and drag this out to a multi-season show. The mini-series is all but a dead concept in the states with every network trying to milk out as much as they can from any plot premise possible. i would applaud CBS to let this stand on it's own and not water it down for years to come.

plus, most of the "isolated town" story lines were done well years ago on Jericho.

it's a miniseries that, if it gets good enough ratings, will be picked up as a full series. Battlestar Galactica (2003) is an example of this.

Can we get a citation for CBS supposedly turning it into a regular series? I haven't seen any reputable source report that as even a possibility.

They can only do so many episodes about all the things a wall can stop.

How come no one is freaking out about food? Where is their water coming from?

Why hasn't anyone tried to setup an optical Internet link? Why aren't there more news organizations near the wall?

Show doesn't make sense so far...

just watched the second episode, thought it was a lot worse than the first, but i'll stick with it a little longer. The guy playing the little brother of the trapped chick, the one doing the trig on the dome, is a fucking atrocious actor, like really, really bad.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/under-domes-brian-k-vaughan-573409

interview with the producer:

Quote :
"THR: You've said that the series already stretches far beyond the short timespan of the book. What kind of time frame are you looking at for the season?
Vaughan: It's been pretty close to be going on a day for each episode. So, at 13, it's going to be at two weeks, which pretty closely mirrors the novel. The show is going to be what life is like in those first two hectic weeks under the dome. Hopefully this is just the start of an incredible journey. The fun will come in the second season, so fingers crossed that people will want to stick around with Chester's Mill.

THR: Do you have an idea of how long you'd like the show to run?
Vaughan: You know, Neal Baer has already worked on two shows that have gone at least 15 seasons. So a conservative 15 seasons sounds about right (laughs)."

not sure if you consider that reputable, but thats where i got my info from
