You're right. Sushi is never really cheap. But some sushi is cheaper than others. And Kai is NOT cheap.

No but 1-2 of my friends ate at Klara's when they were at their old location, before moving to Hillsborough, and loved it.Dan, I'm checking out Battistella's tomorrow night. I'll let ya know what I think.[Edited on June 24, 2013 at 8:22 AM. Reason : B!]

I do wanna know what their dinner is like. Sunday brunch? Not all that great. In fact, sucked. But I guess it's to be expected that the entire staff be hungover as fuck and dragging ass.

virgil's jamaican on garner road
6/24/2013 8:37:27 AM
I have heard that Virgil's is fantastic. In fact, I was talking about it Saturday with an old friend. He says he always gets his food to go, and never goes there after dark. I think he's a pussy.

maybe you should list places you haven't been instead of everyone else listing all the places you have

Settle down, Beavis.

Battistella's didn't really impress me. Food was good, but for the price not worth it IMO. One of my friends raved about her shrimp and grits, but for $21 I would hope it was pretty damn good.

Pat, my sentiments exactly. GF got their bananas foster French toast, which was hardly a good example of either. My shrimp and grits weren't all that great...I make much better, and I've had better from a food truck. The bet thing about battistella's is that they have Abita Turbo Dog on tap. I love Turbo Dog. But...chances are we won't be going back. Not worth the dollaz. It's evidently easy doing regional/ethnic food in a city in which there are few, if any, people who are intimately familiar with such cultures and foods. I'm starting to think quite a few of these places view this as an opportunity to sell a sow's ear as a silk purse.

Ever had the shrimp and grits at NOFO? If so, how do they rate?
6/26/2013 11:08:25 AM
It's been about 5 or 6 years since I have, so I obviously need a refresher. We actually have a NOFO groupon that we need to use, but it'll be a while before we will find the time.
