not that bad, just still in the early phase of a new show where they basically restate everything from the piloti think this show has a lot of potential on down the line
10/2/2013 5:42:32 PM
Beyond the lagrange point? What??
10/2/2013 10:13:24 PM
I am totally on board with this for the duration, but only because I'm a die-hard Marvel universe fanboy. That being said... yeah, this show needs some better dialogue. And the whole business with the raft was just laugh out loud bad. I was wondering what in the hell BigMan157 was referring to when he was talking about an "adamantium raft," and that's all I could think of when I finally saw the scene.I will say that the very end of the episode made me very happy. I hope that some of the other stars of the Marvel universe might consider making cameos as well.
10/2/2013 10:20:56 PM
A little better than the pilot but not by much. I was worried it would end up with just a "freak of the week" type deal where they just go hunt down some mild villain each episode. Glad to see that Samuel L. Jackson showed up.I also lolled at the Lagrange point thing. Makes no sense. They need to stop with those two scientists trying to sound smart by shouting out technobabble all the time. Also, it would take way longer than 180 days to reach the sun.
10/2/2013 10:35:32 PM
I just can't get into this show and I'm a huge Marvel / Joss Whedon fan. Firefly has spoiled me with cast expectations for Joss Whedon. Maybe he can beg Nathan Fillion to come in and save the show.
10/3/2013 11:47:57 AM
Coulson is the only thing keeping my attention because I like his character and hes a good actor, but i feel like he's babysitting the rest of the cast (all of which are terrible actors).
10/3/2013 12:10:32 PM
10/3/2013 12:40:21 PM
Even if it takes just 180 days to reach the sun, isn't that plenty of time for an alien race or a superhero to retrieve it?The whole shooting things into the sun to destroy them is really, really stupid.
10/3/2013 1:32:47 PM
I'll probably stay on because it's Marvel.I like the scientists, and I like Coulson. For Ward to be such a capable agent, he seems to make lots of rash decisions. I'm sure this is meant to signify his ability to react and cut to the solution, but it just seems to clash with what we've been told of his character. Also, repetition of the "In English?" trope.
10/3/2013 2:57:16 PM
sooo what you guys are basically saying that this is like every basic cable TV superhero theme show ever.
10/3/2013 3:15:33 PM
nowe're not
10/3/2013 5:43:07 PM
Arrow is pretty damn good, I would consider it way ahead of this one.

The Lagrange point protects it.

10/8/2013 10:04:18 PM
as much as i love superheroes, Marvel, and the Marvel films I have almost zero interest in this show. Watching the pilot was a chore and the second episode barely kept my attention. I may give it one more before I drop it from my lineup.
10/9/2013 8:27:13 AM
This show sucks. I love how all the 'experts' and agents are basically kids who just reached puberty. Completely playing to a demographic. They need some 'Walter' like characters to make the science bits work, and not high school nerds. The need to have something other than one 'old guy' to be the leader. Hates it.[Edited on October 9, 2013 at 9:28 AM. Reason : .]
10/9/2013 9:27:25 AM
if they show more scenes of hacker broad running around in a wet dress, i'm all for it
10/9/2013 9:52:44 AM
wtf was Coulson running into an extraction mission wearing a suit and tie? At least Ward had on what looked like some kind of tactical/close fitting clothing. Also, why would dropping a guy into the gravity stuff make it stabilize (and how would Coulson even know that)? Dude said that it was growing exponentially or whatever and nothing could stop it.
10/9/2013 3:50:25 PM
Gravvvvitron
10/9/2013 3:58:35 PM
they are ham-handed as fuck in showing coulson isn't coulson anymore (clone, robot, etc)
10/9/2013 4:40:23 PM
Tahiti is a magical place
10/9/2013 5:21:29 PM
got about 5 mins through the 3rd episode before i called it quits.oh well, another one for the discard pile.
10/11/2013 9:12:47 AM
Definitely not my favorite new show of the season so far, but it's not clogging up a timeslot on the DVR. It's entertaining enough, and I have faith in Joss.
10/11/2013 9:16:14 AM

10/16/2013 5:31:26 PM
After 4 episodes I'm enjoying it. It's more procedural than CW's shows but much less soap opera, and I prefer procedural to soap BY FAR.
10/16/2013 11:06:14 PM
This latest episode (4) was by a wide margin the best one so far.I'm glad I gave it one more shot, the first 3 weren't super impressive.
10/16/2013 11:12:56 PM
ok i watched all three/four shows on demand. the acting's terrible. like face frowning terrible. This the "A team" now. They just need a Mister T character and I think he will come. I'm looking at you Luke CageThe mystery behind Coulson is already annoying. just spew it. I thought there would be more Hydra. but the show's new. still timeIll catch it every once in a while.
10/17/2013 7:46:18 PM
I do agree the 4th episode really was the best, only because it added a much wider plot for the rest of the season. I don't think it's a particularly bad show, but the comedy stays in line with the other Marvel movies and in the realm of the Marvel canon. Entertaining, but I'm sure this was more towards the much younger age demographics as someone mentioned. Also, the reason why Coulson was wearing the suit still on the beach... because the suit is biologically attached to him...
10/21/2013 12:21:16 AM
I'll try to give shows like this a half a season before I'll quit them or not. It's worked out well in the past with shows like Alphas. Sometimes it hasn't..lolThe show is getting a lot better as they go along. I think part of my issues with it had to do with seeing the Avengers and trying to compare this show with that movie. The other part of my issues are dealing with the telegraphed or stereotypical plot devices and characters. With some of the 3rd and just about all of the 4th episode that's been going away. So after all that who do you think the big bad guys are in the series? I know we've seen AIM and Hydra in the movies, but we haven't seen Zodiac yet. We did see one of AIM's main bad guys created though. Maybe it'll be some sort of an organization based of the remnants of Hydra and AIM. It'll be interesting to see though.

Last week's episode was fairly decent, in line with the previous one. The acting and cliches are there but the story is getting a lot more interesting. It's cool that they tied in the Extremis stuff from Iron Man 3.
10/29/2013 1:32:11 PM
I don't understand why people have such a hard-on for Luke Cage to appear on this show. He's not the type to cooperate with S.H.I.E.L.D. He fought the SHRA in Civil War, for fuck's sake.
10/29/2013 1:37:59 PM
no new episode tonight was laaaaame
10/29/2013 9:01:13 PM
^^ This show is a good environment for those "street level" heroes to appear in. Everyone just has Luke Cage on their mind since it looked like that is who J. August Richards might have been.
10/30/2013 7:04:05 AM
I thought there was some kind of licensing issue with X-Men characters showing up in Marvel movies since Fox owns the movie rights? Gonna be kind of weird having two different people play Quicksilver (with two different costumes and stories) so closely together.
10/30/2013 11:25:01 PM
^think you might have meant to post that in the age of ultron thread. They are allowed to use him in the marvel movie universe as long as they don't refer to him as a mutant or the fact that magneto is his dad. I've also heard that it won't be much more than a cameo in x-men
10/31/2013 8:37:29 AM
^Yep I did. n00b moment.
10/31/2013 9:53:11 AM
damn, almost whedon'ed 4 episodes in
11/6/2013 8:03:48 AM
lol at the hovering plane. Six engines that all gimbal to the point of a completely stable jumbo jet. Right. Also, all those bad guys had their guns pointed right at them and this plane coming in and knocking them over with it's engines is enough to prevent them from even firing one shot? Everyone in the entire base?
11/16/2013 3:31:58 PM
This show is pretty bad, but it's still getting ratings and has already been picked up for a second season so it has a chance to evolve. In theory anyway.
11/16/2013 4:46:25 PM
A crossover with the new Thor movie?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2xw3ckWo6oDoesn't look like much of a crossover.

Helicarriers don't exist in real life so they can make up whatever they want about it.Planes do exist in real life, especially planes like that. It has a very conventional airplane shape and design (aside from the ridiculous extra engines on the aft side) that is not conducive to VTOL operation. If you are gonna have give it crazy capabilities like that just make it a completely new made up type of plane instead of basing it on an already existing C-17.This is despite the fact that the hovering capability could have come in handy in the past.[Edited on November 18, 2013 at 5:02 PM. I liked this episode, but I'm not sure about this love pentagon they have going on.
11/20/2013 12:00:36 AM
Huh. I have to admit, I liked this most recent episode ("The Well") a lot more than any of the others which I'd seen previously. I'm cautiously optimistic that things may improve.
11/20/2013 9:38:41 PM
I liked it too! Never would have expected Ward and Mae (I think that's her name?) to hook up. Mae just always came along as too cold/professional for any type of fling.
11/21/2013 2:28:09 PM
wait, what? I must have missed that. Admittedly, I was doing some other stuff while watching this week. At what point did Mae and Ward hook up?
