As I have said before in every other one of these threads... the solution is to ban homo sapiens: without them, it wouldn't be a homo sapien problem. Let the chimps and gorillas sort it out.

Im a smoker who supports banning cigs in bars and restaurants. But this is fuckin stupid

My point is you can't ban shit just because other people don't want to smell it. Prove to me that it is more toxic than some smelly bath and body works shit or the latest celebrity's perfume line. Lots of smells make me gag and cough and give me a headache, but that's my problem.
4/10/2013 12:35:29 AM
id rather ban drunken morons period

it's possible to adjust the formulas on these so that they don't create noticeable vapor/smell. I recently vaped on a redeye with no problems, probably because i did a low-vapor/odor formula
4/10/2013 8:28:03 AM
^Im pretty sure they're illegal for use during commercial flight. At least according to a flight attendant who stopped a guy on he last flight i was on.
4/10/2013 10:44:28 AM
^ considerate people don't "vape" in confined spaces with non-vapers...same goes for perfume and farting

They need to ban the stores in the mall like Abercrombie, Hollister etc from pumping cologne out of the air vents. Instant headache whenever I walk by.
4/10/2013 12:16:29 PM
I've seen more and more of these, inside and out. This past weekend, I had a few people over to my place for a cookout. Guests were free to invite a friend. Anyway, a guy showed up that I didn't know very well.... Somewhat douchy.... And he was smoking an e-cig at one point. Can't say I smelled anything.
9/5/2013 6:47:24 PM
Story on NPR today about increasing e-cig use among teenagers. I realize that these aren't illegal for minors, but why the hell would a kid use these things? Smoking is bad, but at least it looks cool. E-cigs make you look like a fucking moron.
9/5/2013 6:58:09 PM
So I dont vape or know much about it at all, but from my short amount of googling, blucigs at least do not have any propylene glycol....supposedly only: Distilled Water, Nicotine (when applicable), FCC Grade Vegetable Glycerin, Natural Flavors, Artificial Flavors, Citric Acidbut how much difference is there between propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin is the question

Regarding smoking looking cool... I think that's too big of a generalization. Some people it looks fucking stupid as shit.
9/5/2013 11:39:55 PM
I enjoy e-cigs a couple times a week, but even I'm starting to get annoyed with people that keep these things in their face constantly. I know several people who are constantly puffing on these things. My husband is seriously chain smoking all day on this thing now, when he used to smoke around 10 cigs a day. When he got it, he claimed he was going to use it to wean himself off of nicotine, but from what I can tell, his addiction is stronger than ever. I think he increased the strength of his juice versus a year ago, when he started. What pisses me off more than the smell of it (though sometimes that is annoying-- he has like a hundred flavors and I've asked him not to make a few of them again and he keeps doing it, ugh) is that he's just so mindless about the thing. Anytime I look at him, he's just sucking on that e-cig with a dumb look on his face. Sometimes he starts looking for the fucking thing and asking me to help, and it's still in his hand. I have to tell him a couple times a week that he's not allowed to do it in bed, and I've repeatedly asked him not to do it beside my pets cages but he goes over there and stares at them and blows glycerin and propylene glycol all over them all the time. Mostly, he just has no idea what he's doing-- and I'm sure he's equally clueless to how he might be annoying other people with it, people who might be too polite to say anything. I'm a big old buzz kill, but fuck. Cigarettes at least come in discrete units, and only assholes smoke them indoors all the time. I literally cannot escape how annoying the e-cig become to me.[Edited on September 6, 2013 at 10:44 AM. Reason : ]

NYC is banning e-cigs inside of buildings. People will need to take them outside in a couple of months
12/20/2013 8:37:04 AM
I hate smoking in general, but I thought the main appeal of these things was being able to smoke without bothering others or smelling like an ashtray. I think that banning them in public places will just make more people go back to regular cigarettes. I do not support the banning of them in public places. Maybe making a designated inside spot to do it would be a better choice.
12/20/2013 8:40:41 AM
yes, but the problem is, is that there are no definitive studies on the contents and effects of the second-hand vapor; apparently it's not just water vapor. If the second-hand vapor is safe, I don't think they should be banned.
12/20/2013 8:45:06 AM
Very true. I guess preemptively banning them until studies are done isn't a terrible idea.
12/20/2013 8:46:04 AM
I think it's interesting when legislation is passed for public health reasons, based on "non-science", for lack of a better term. If they ever do actually get around to doing research on this, and it is found that the vapor is completely harmless, I highly doubt they will go back and remove this ban.It just seems like a snap judgement to me.

12/20/2013 9:44:58 AM
If we've learned anything this week, it's that if anything bothers even the smallest minority of people, it should be banned.

12/20/2013 11:54:56 AM
Smath74, smoking real cigs is a nuisance and I am glad they haven't unbanned them. Litter, actual smoke, nasty smell. While they may not cause cancer if someone smokes next to me they do make my eyes and throat burn, as well as make me nauseated and give me a headache. I feel like it is slightly different from someone not liking the way something you are doing smells. Was there anything in the study about second hand smoke and pregnant women/fetuses?[Edited on December 20, 2013 at 12:00 PM.
