I mean...that's pretty accurate. They could give a fuck about Sansa...they just want her info to help put their family in a better position (like every family in ASOIAF). They just don't won't have the opportunity to turn on her in King's Landing.

^I'm just saying that Joffrey's death shouldn't be surprising. Everyone hates him...even his mother. Someone was bound to slip in and kill that little shit. Rob, on the other hand...was on his way to battling the Lannisters and doing pretty well at it. I think the Red Wedding was pretty shocking...at least moreso than someone finally killing Joffrey.

I was pretty surprised with the red wedding when I read it, I plan on setting up a camera to catch reaction shots when we get to that episode.

While the Red Wedding was somewhat surprising it was somewhat telegraphed. It was more unsettling if anything especially in the way that Cat died and her last lines.

Now Jon's death, that was truly surprising. I thought we were going to finally have a heroic moment for one of the main characters then boom, snatched away.

He's been mostly a player in the "Ice"(Stranger/Night/Others/Faceless) part of A Song Of Fire and Ice, although with Stannis and Melisandre there he's having a bit to do with the "Fire" part (R'hllor/Dragons/Targaryen/Azor Ahai) in different dreams and things)

Right. He is clearly not dead, and will probably begin the next book trapped in Ghost, hence the prologue. All the same it was surprising to have it happen that way when it seemed to be building towards a big moment for him.

Will Red Wedding be this season? It's been awhile since I've read the books and I know it's in 3, but I don't know where they are splitting up this season this Season 4 will cover book 3 too

How about a Targaryen for a father, and a Stark for a Mother? Is that Fire and Ice enough for you?

I know about the Ned's sister/Rhaegar theory, but I like to think of the Ice as the Others and the Stranger, not the Starks, too many other players for it to just be about jon snow.

I definitely see that.

I was just commenting on that specific possibility as to why I, like everyone else believe its impossible for Jon to be dead. Can't have a epic series named for a character who dies before the final chapters.

So what is the deal with Theon? I figured it was just Ramsay Snow messing with him when he was released but I don't recall anything similar to him being saved by that archer. Maybe the archer is actually Ramsay?

The part with Pod and the hookers was def an HBO addon. They had to get their tits in there somewhere.

The part where Bron and Tyrion crowded around him with a jug of wine asking for tips was hilarious, though.

Definitely. They need to make Ramsay quickly into a complete sociopath, this looks like a good way for him to do it, bond with Theon, make him feel safe, then completely break him.

Any ideas about how the whole "Brotherhood Without Banners"/Lady Stoneheart thing is going to play out? I thought in season one they spent a second or two setting that up, yet we haven't seen Beric, no one has mentioned that they were the men Ned sent to bring the Mountain to justice, and Thoros hasn't been shown to be a red priest. I thought Beric's Jesus-like resurections are some of the coolest magic in the show, way better than anything Melisandre does. They still need to get a lot of stuff sorted out before the Red Wedding, which seems fast aproaching.

FYI TV critic Joanna Robinson is starting to put together a Book/TV spoiler heavy recap each week on Pajiba.com

http://www.pajiba.com/tv_reviews/10-things-we-learned-from-this-weeks-cutting-episode-of-game-of-thrones-spoiler-whore-and-book-reader-edition.php

basically picking apart the differences between page and screen, inside jokes, nods, and laughing at what's to come for TV only fans.

Can we talk about what's probably coming with Melisandre?

I'm thinking she's going to go kill Gendry for her "king's blood" scene (which she originally got from the leech and Edric Storm's blood)

since there isn't an Edric Storm (so far, anyway) in the show, I'm assuming that's where this is going

there are rumors that there will be at least one major shock for book readers this season, and that'd fit the bill

I suppose they could cut the whole "three false kings" scene from the show, but killing Gendry is one of the only shockers I could think of: anyone else have any ideas of things that may be radically changed from the books?

they've been trying awful hard to get us to like Cat in the last few episodes, so I figure she still dies

I guess it also changes the Beric storyline a lot if she just doesn't need the last of his resurrection powers to come back

Dondarrion wasn't quite the picture I had in my head. Then again neither was Thoros. but the entire scene in the cave, before the trial by fire was just how I envisioned it.

The story of Varys and him capturing the sorcerer wasn't in the book right? It was still awesome.

Varys/Littlefinger are my favorite arcs of the show/book.

Yes, and the guy in the box thing really irritated me. Hopefully it doesn't go too much further. Possibly just to show that even though we haven't heard from him in a while Varys' power is still very much a thing?

Also, I wonder if they're going to skip the whole Tyrion/Sansa thing. They have introduced the idea of Sansa/Little Finger very explicitly, which is unfortunate. It would've been better if while at the Eyrie LF just sort of turned rapey. They left out Willas Tyrell, which for the show makes sense. No point in going into all of that when you already have a Tyrell brother introduced to viewers.

I thought the preview for next week hinted at Tyrion and Sansa. Tywin said something about having to act first (assuming he meant the Tyrells maring Sansa to Loras) and Tyrion reacted.

We may still see the Tyrion/ Sansa thing. If the queen catches wind of the plan to marry Sansa and Loras, then we could get into the Tyrion/ Sansa arc. The Littlefinger/ Sansa arc is happening pretty quick though, so I wouldn't be surprised if its skipped entirely.

I feel like its less important in the show to include the Tyrion/ Sansa arc on the show. In the book it was very important to show a different side of Tyrion, to show how he was not like the other Lannisters, but we have seen a lot more of that in the show than in the book.

They've hinted at Sansa and Tyrion for next week.

It will probably all be bottled up in one episode. Sansa happy thinking she gets to marry Loras. Then gets told she'll actually have to marry Willas. Then be married to Tyrion under everyone's nose.

i wonder if they'll bring Dontos back to help Sansa escape or just leave him out and have Littlefinger rush her off when shit hits the fan?

It was obvious to me in the books that Little Finger's interest in Sansa was a weird misplaced attraction stemming from his feelings for Cat.

The story lines will probably continue to mirror the books.

Just given littlefinger's character I doubt his interest in Sansa relating to Cat, If he had that strong of an interest in her he probably wouldn't have betrayed her to turn in Ned. He also probably would have put in some effort into saving her from the Red Wedding. I think his interest Sansa is the same as his interest in her aunt, Sansa gives him a claim to Winterfell and Warden of the North.

Ned got in trouble when he basically went all in with the truth against Cersei with no witnesses, but getting him out of the way was certainly necessary if he wanted to move in on Cat. We don't have any evidence that he had any idea the red wedding was happening.

This is kind of an out there theory I read but it makes sense to have Ros fill this role. Somehow I think she helps Sansa escape and gets caught in the double agent web and LF murders her instead of Dontos.

No, he got in trouble that Robert Baratheon got killed by a boar, he was safe untill that happened.

He gave them fake Arya for the Bolton to marry afterwords. He pretty much had a hand in making it.

Definitely possible, but considering they have introduced Dontos and done nothing with him and Ros seems like a very interesting character, I'll bet on Dontos doing it.

No, he was safe until Robert got killed by a bear, but he was in peril in the first place because he doesn't have any tact.

Just because LF is protecting his own interests (or maybe is even protecting Arya) after the fact is not evidence that he had anything to do with orchestrating the wedding.

I think Ros knows better. She's entirely too shrewd a woman and is already in league with Varys. I suspect we see Dontos again, at least as a step stool during Tyrion's wedding but whoever gives Sansa the hair net is the one who will get murdered.

I like the Roz speculation. I think it's too late to reintroduce Dontos into that role. I think it'll be split between Roz and Shae. Obviously Shae has to stick around for the back end of Tyrion's story, but I could see her giving Sansa the hairnet, as requested by Roz, with Roz escourting Sansa to LF and being silenced for working with Varys.

It does. The arrangement is that the Freys and Boltons betray and kill Robb Stark's army, for that the Boltons get to be warden of the north, a title they get from marriage with Arya Stark (Jeyne Poole), who was captured by Littlefinger. He must have known about it beforehand.

Arya's not part of the deal for the Red Wedding, Roose is named Warden in the north by the Lannisters who have the power to make him new Warden. LF sends Jeyne up there to solidify his hold on the north, but he knows that Arya is not really Arya because he plans to usurp the North with Sansa eventually.

i dont think they will skip it and will more or less just follow the book by having the lannisters pre-emp the tyrells. no point in introducing another tyrell son if sansa is ultimately going to marry tyrion anyway

also, i didn't catch that sansa was praying at a cut down weirwood. good eye person on reddit.
