Lewis played Larkin straight up in our game. Larkin should be 2nd team.
3/4/2013 1:07:58 PM
Larkin really doesn't have great numbers.13.8 pts, 4 rebs, 4 astYou can argue Brown and Cook have had better years
3/4/2013 1:14:00 PM
he's got a name, thoughwhich is sad but true
3/4/2013 1:16:20 PM
Larkin is a very good outside shooter, and he turns it over much less than Brown.
3/4/2013 1:21:15 PM
he doesn't have a better Assist to Turnover ratio, though
3/4/2013 1:26:47 PM
Larkin's main selling point is that he's the PG of the best team in the ACC. That goes a long way in a year where there is no clear cut favorite to win POY. I personally think Joe Harris deserves it as he's taken that team to the top 4 (as of now) in the ACC and UVa is a pretty horrible team talent wise. Really it is just Harris and Mitchell. It could come down to who has a big game this week. If Plumlee goes for 30 and 15 against UNC, he might win it solely on the fact that voters sometimes have short term memories. Howell will make 1st team, I am confident of this.
3/4/2013 3:22:46 PM
Who the heck should win PotY if not Green? Plumlee can't (he's stunk most of second half of ACC), Larkin shouldn't. Harris? Also, Sulaimon shouldn't be a lock for RotY.
3/5/2013 8:01:12 PM
Just saw in the Duke/VT game that Green averaged about 2.5 points his freshman year.
3/5/2013 8:05:26 PM
Larkin making 1st team for a point guard over Zo is absolute shit, IMO. If anything Larkin should take Seth Curry's coveted 1st team spot because Zo is clearly the best point guard in the ACC right now.
3/5/2013 8:22:33 PM
Curry isn't making the first team
3/5/2013 8:26:37 PM
Gold made a great point on 99.9 this afternoon about it being Player of the Year and not Most Valuable Player, so Green being on a bad team should have nothing to do with his case for POTY

3/6/2013 12:10:30 AM
Zo's not that good. I wish he was, but he's not
3/6/2013 12:13:03 AM
"Not that good"?This transition from red to mostly green disagrees. [Edited on March 6, 2013 at 12:23 AM. Reason : .]
3/6/2013 12:22:55 AM
^ Exactly. And nobody has been able to stop him this year or really bother him that much. And he leads the league in assists by a large margin but also has good rebs and ppg. Don't know why he is not considered at this point.
3/6/2013 12:25:30 AM
maybe if Larkin were more handsome, Banjoman would respect him
3/6/2013 12:26:35 AM
dont get me going again.Larkin is clearly one of the best lookin dudes in the ACC. This has been said before
3/6/2013 12:29:57 AM
honestly, i see zo as just an amazing basketball player. when he wants to he will get to the basket, and not only that but by the time he gets there 4 times out of 5 it's an empty lane somehow. his handle is beautiful, he rarely gets out of control (though he can get careless). if he would just get his jumpshot going like he did at the end of last year, he will be unstoppable again. when he's comfortable pulling up from 12' he's just too good for college basketball.
3/6/2013 12:32:24 AM
Zo and Larkin have similar per game numbers, but Zo got hurt and we lost a few games, and Miami is going to be regular season champsso he's gonna be the PG on the first team, no sense in getting mad about it
3/6/2013 12:33:37 AM
except that they don't have similar per game numbers.
3/6/2013 1:24:59 AM
1.34 ppg difference0.2 a:to difference0.037 spg differencemight as well be comparing a 1 guard to a center
3/6/2013 1:38:06 AM
you forgot the nearly 2.7 apg difference and 0.4 rbg difference
3/6/2013 1:42:25 AM
4 tenths of a rebound? holy shit!
3/6/2013 2:37:10 AM
that shit rounds up to 1 in my book][Edited on March 6, 2013 at 2:58 AM. Reason : cotdayum tree, why do I suck at images lately?]
3/6/2013 2:57:46 AM
All that picture that Bweez posted shows is that we lost to good teams and beat bad teams.
3/6/2013 5:27:19 AM
^You forgot to mention we didn't have Zo for 3 of those 4 loses.I know he technically played in the UVA game, but he was out before he could make an impact. Completely caught us off guard.
3/6/2013 7:43:39 AM
3/6/2013 8:14:46 AM
^ I don't get Mitchell over Howell. Howell beats him in every stat category except FT % and steals
3/6/2013 9:00:26 AM
I could see Hanlan from BC winning ROY. his numbers are really good and they've been surprisingly competitive.
3/6/2013 9:36:01 AM
mitchell is a pretty key part of virginia's defense this yearhowever, if that is factored into his rankings I don't get how plumlee is that high. he's used the gottfried "dont contest shots because you might commit a foul and have to sit" strategy all year
3/6/2013 10:08:51 AM
3/6/2013 10:16:51 AM
I love Zo but I think Quinn Cook had a better year.Hate incoming.[Edited on March 6, 2013 at 10:22 AM. Reason : Cook > Plumlee too]
3/6/2013 10:21:51 AM
^based on what? Zo has better stats than Cook in almost every category
3/6/2013 10:28:34 AM
Cook averages more points, has a much higher eFG%, has a better A:TO ratio and (IMO) plays better defense. It's close though.
3/6/2013 10:54:49 AM
Upon further inspection, Cook averages 0.1 more points and .22 more A/TO than Zo a game.I like Cook, but I just dont think he's on the same PG tier as Zo
3/6/2013 11:25:21 AM
Well David Glenn has a vote, and just said he's probably voting for Larkin for POY.. And first team would have to go with it
3/6/2013 12:13:06 PM
3/7/2013 3:48:17 PM
^ lol. He probably looked at the wrong column in the stat sheet as he put together that article. I hate that Warren is getting no mention at all. Paige has played well in UNC's new smaller lineup, but dude was garbage for much of the season. Warren has had some off nights, but he's been pretty damn solid all year on a team with a lot of weapons. Sulaimon benefitted heavily from Kelly being out.
3/7/2013 3:53:25 PM
Call me when Rasheed puts up 31 and 13 against an ACC opponent...then we can talk about naming him ROY. Otherwise, TJ wins it in my mind. Sulaimon will end up winning it because hes a Dukie though.OBTW...TJ had 1 less point last night than Sulaimon has had in his last 3 games.
3/7/2013 4:53:09 PM
Remember when Hodge got beaten out for ROY by Ed Nelson? Yeah, neither does anyone else. Warren may lead the ACC in scoring next season.
3/7/2013 5:01:18 PM
3/7/2013 6:21:33 PM
Sulaimon did put up 27 and 25 in two ACC games. I don't think he should win it though. Hanlan and Warren have had more consistent seasons. fuck Paige.I'm pretty surprised by the fact that Warren has barely gotten any hype at all. He's had a great season.
3/7/2013 6:26:29 PM
its funny how much hype the blue teams are getting right now with the small lineup for UNC and Kelly returning for Duke. Whats gone unmentioned is the fact that we're 6-1 since Lorenzo returned and he was out for half of our ACC losses. Looking forward to the ACC Tournament...

1) when hasn't that been the case?and 2) they've been playing at a higher level than we have been the past couple of weeksit's all just noise at this point. we'll soon find out how good we really are

3/11/2013 1:12:41 PM
McAdoo on 2nd team is a little annoying but I mostly agree with how the teams turned out
3/11/2013 1:23:27 PM
Ryan Kelly got HM for basically one game.
