Steel beam over the garage huh? Who ended up doing the engineering for your house?
5/24/2013 9:51:35 PM
engineering tech. whats wrong with a steel beam?
5/24/2013 10:18:55 PM
Absolutely nothing. That's a choice the engineer made during the design process based on several factors, sometimes including the builders material preferences.
5/26/2013 2:19:36 PM
that's a heck of a span and I assume will have a decent load on it. Would much rather have a steel beam.[Edited on May 28, 2013 at 1:14 PM. Reason : .]
5/28/2013 1:14:26 PM
it has 2.5 floors sitting on top of it.
5/28/2013 1:51:17 PM
Nothing's wrong with a steel beam, they can just be pricy. Most builders would prefer LVLs over steel.
5/30/2013 7:07:41 AM
dont worry its packed full of lvls as well
5/30/2013 2:08:31 PM
Lol, I'm sure it is. Engineering Tech is good, they are one of my company's competition, but I know they do good work

i feel you. wettest summer I can remember in a long time. At least 95% of the items on my project at work is indoors. If we weren't re-using an existing structure we would have had a lot of setbacks this spring/summer.[Edited on July 3, 2013 at 12:19 PM. Reason : ]

any new pictures?
9/5/2013 7:44:34 AM
Not really. I'll take some tomorrow. The problem with being a builder and building your personal home is that paying work often gets in the way especially when you are a "hands On" type GC. Cabinets started today. Tile is done in 2 of 3 baths. Granite for a week from Wednesday. Painter will start next week. Stairs and trim ongoing.
9/6/2013 10:17:21 PM
Got my CO today. Will post pics at some point lol
