Didnt read the whole thread, but the Olympics should be steeped in tradition, not based on TV ratings and/or what you fucktards would rather watch while eating your Papa John's on the couch at night.Wrestling is about as basic and original a sport as they come and I am appalled at it being dropped.

i'm appalled they didn't do it fully nude, as the ancient Grecians did

the goal is to not allow too much muscles and actual athletic feats on a broadcast.track is in danger as well, they barely show shotput and hammer throw because its big muscular men and women that scream and yell when they get big marks. Its too "primitive" cant have big strong men showing anything that can be misconstrued as aggression.what you also cannot to is allow sports that arent totally in the hands of judges, if a competitor has the opportunity to defeat an opponent directly and decisively then that sport generates less money for the judge's pockets.what the olympics wants is viewership that wants to be entertained. So the events that can stay are events where the women think the men are sexy and vice versa; as well as events that would be equivalent to watching a broadway show such as people dancing while swimming and twirling balls and hoops and toilet paper on a stick.plus the judges one hundred percent pick the winner and can orchestrate whatever fuckin story they want about whichever competitor they choose.martial arts have had to sell their soul to get into the olympics, it changes the basis for traditional techniques and it affects what schools of various disciplines decide is worth teaching for a competitive athlete where they basically have to only compete in competitions with rules and technical adaptations similar to the olympic games so techniques automatically "die" off.anyway, fuck the olympics and just get rid of all the martial arts. There are plenty of huge international competitions where you dont get points for lightly tapping your toe on the head of your opponent

I totally agree with Bighit. "Martial Arts" in the Olympics is an abomination of what it's supposed to be. I did Martial Arts for 15 years and didnt compete for that very same reason...all of the tournaments in my area were about "points" and not about "effectiveness" if that makes sense.

There's no doubt about martial arts in olympics. Olympic boxing has done incredible damage to the health of boxing overall. It basically teaches the opposite of what you need to do in a prize fight.
