Haven't been paying attention, but what the hell did the Blue Jays do to get all you folks on board to say they're winning the AL East? Wow.
3/19/2013 1:43:27 AM
jose reyes, buehrle, RA Dickey, Bonafacio, melky cabrera, Josh johnson, they essentially added that group to last year's team
3/19/2013 2:02:42 AM
looks like they picked up the NL East's scraps
3/19/2013 11:32:24 AM
Well, that plus the Yankees went completely to shit over the offseason. Jeter broke his ankle and probably cannot repeat last year's numbers, CC is slowing down, Teixera isn't healthy, A-Rod isn't healthy, etc.Cano and Granderson are the only people you have to worry about in that lineup right now.The Orioles basically stood pat, the Rays lost some pitching, and the Red Sox imploded last year and got rid of everyone. So yeah, why not Toronto with all the guys they added?
3/19/2013 12:56:34 PM
I think Toronto looks like the odds on favorite on paper. Having said that Johnson and Reyes both have big injury issues, you don't know what you'll get from a post-roided up Melky, and it's still a guess as to how well Dickey transitions to the AL.Orioles will still be solid, tough to see them going 29-9 in 1-run games again, Yankees have seemingly aged 10 years in one offseason with all the injury issues, and the Rays will be tough - especially if Myers can add some power to the middle of their order at some point during the year.It may be my totally biased opinion, but I feel like the Red Sox may surprise some people. Pitching staff has been great in Spring Training (and yeah I know it's Spring Training, but its not like it'll be hard to improve over last year's rotation), bullpen looks pretty awesome (Hanrahan/Bailey/Tazawa/Uehara/Miller/Breslow/potentially Bard), and if he stays healthy I feel like Napoli will make up for Gonzalez's absence in the middle of the lineup. Looking forward to seeing Webster, De La Rosa, Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Xander Boegarts at some point during the year as well.

Tim McCarver to retire after World Series
3/28/2013 8:55:20 AM
^ Thank God. Tim McCarver is the first sports announcer I truly hated as a kid. Dude loathes the Braves and slobs on catchers constantly.
3/28/2013 11:53:17 AM
I'm thinking the payroll cap is catching up with them as well

was the MLB At-Bat app $20 for the season last year? I thought it was only $10. if so, LAME
4/1/2013 8:13:29 PM
I bought it for 14.99 last year. Debating about buying it this year.
4/1/2013 8:14:14 PM
yeah I bought it last year, i swear for $9.99. Mainly because U-verse in my area had 45 braves games they couldn't show and my local radio affiliate was so spotty on which games they would air due to being an MRN/PRN affiliate as well. the former has been resolved, not sure about the latter.
4/1/2013 8:17:00 PM
Did you buy it midseason?
4/1/2013 8:20:19 PM
now that you mention it, i might have.

4/4/2013 11:17:24 AM

Why the hell are there inter-league games this early in the season?

Are you serious

Indians on tv two nights in a rowTwo straight rainoutsNC Tribe shit[Edited on April 11, 2013 at 7:52 PM. Reason : Thanks Obama ]
4/11/2013 7:51:49 PM
I seem to remember interleague games not starting until late May in previous seasons. But having them when a team hasn't even hit double digits in games played just seems way too early.
4/11/2013 8:06:41 PM
all season long. it's lame
4/11/2013 8:14:48 PM
^^ hello. Welcome to baseball. In 2013, the Houston Astros are playing in the AL West. They were formerly in the NL Central. With 15 teams in each league, there either has to be a 2 teams off every night, or they have to play interleague games.[Edited on April 11, 2013 at 8:29 PM. Reason : ~]
4/11/2013 8:28:45 PM
Check the scoreboards, dude. The Chicago White Sox (AL) are playing the Washington Nationals (NL). Don't be a smart ass if you don't have the smarts.
4/11/2013 10:19:16 PM
wut
4/11/2013 10:26:54 PM
Nationals have now swept the White Sox, Mets start a series with the Twins tomorrow. And the Astros didn't even play today, so why did you assume I was talking about them?[Edited on April 11, 2013 at 10:28 PM. Reason : -]
4/11/2013 10:27:48 PM
Dude. The Astros moving to the AL are the reason there is interleague play all season long. Before each league had an even number of teams, so they could all play each other. Now each league has an odd number, so the odd teams out each series play each other.
4/11/2013 10:39:16 PM
Hahaha
4/11/2013 11:09:46 PM
It's about time they did that, the uneven number of teams in the 2 leagues plus the same number of playoff spots in each league was absolutely retarded. The next step towards getting its head out of its ass is for baseball to either eliminate or mandate the DH. I vote mandate.
4/12/2013 3:17:40 AM
Apologies to BJC, at first glance it sounded like he was assuming I didn't know the Astros had switched.I would have preferred more days off for teams between series as opposed to all the interleague, but only because of the DH. Get rid of DH entirely and it wouldn't matter who plays where anymore.
4/12/2013 5:01:41 AM
I don't understand the love for NL style play. It's pretty unwatchable. Most pitchers now aren't even close to being competent with a bat even when it comes to bunting. When you go through pretty much your entire baseball career not hitting if you're a pitcher (HS, college, etc.) you aren't going to see a pitcher who can hit.Don't feed me some line about how it's strategic, there's nothing hard to figure out when it comes to a double switch. It just makes for inferior offense and does nothing to make it more fun to watch.PS - You couldn't just add more days off, the baseball season is already too long as it is. You can't extend it another few weeks.[Edited on April 12, 2013 at 8:23 AM. Reason : sdffd]
4/12/2013 8:22:33 AM
Yeah NL ball is boooooooring. AL play all day erry day
4/12/2013 9:57:40 AM
yes i'm all for having more one dimensional hitters with zero fielding ability getting a chance to shine. nothing like being good at only half the sport.
4/12/2013 11:03:57 AM
Yes watching Clayton Kershaw throw a shut out and hit a homerun to win on opening day was so boring!
4/12/2013 11:11:08 AM
Play a position or don't play at all. Even Fat Sack Prince Fielder can play first base. Playing the field earns you the right to step up to the plate.
4/12/2013 11:17:54 AM
I only prefer the rule of the league that my favorite team plays in and can't understand at all how people watch their favorite teams in the other league!!
