trip to vail instead maybe buy a groupon that is available to use all winter. that way if things don't work out you can use it with girlfriends [Edited on December 5, 2012 at 7:50 AM. Reason : want to ski now]

jbrick: Exactly. I've never liked the "relationship talk". Seems pretty dumb if you're an adult. And last year, I gave my bf, who I had lived with for a year, a ski trip to Aspen. We broke up a month later. Not getting burned on a trip again!Mmmm, Vail. I'll save that for gfs.[Edited on December 5, 2012 at 7:54 AM. Reason : e]

I'm a big fan of a gift bundle...Depending on what you want to spend you get 3-6 items that he'll like.Let's say you have a budget of $200. Get 3-6 $30-$60 items that he'd like and find useful. Some stuff I've gotten recently that I really liked:1. Gloves - a pair of gloves that can be used while running or just general outdoor stuff. It has special material on the thumbs/finger so you can use touch screens on phone etc.2. Multi-Tool or every day carry knife3. Sports/Fitness gear (a nice shaker bottle that won't leak is nifty)4. Some embroidered gear. I got my business logo and graphics embroided on some sweet athletic stuff and it looks great.5. Craft wine or beer6. Sexy coupons7. Massages8. Tech Accessories - Kindle, phone peripherals, heart rate monitor, etc.

- Beer/Wine Club memberships- Brewery Tour gift certificates- Is he a big sports guy? What country in South America? Random...but if he's Argentinian and a huge soccer fan, then he might like something like an Autographed Messi Jersey- You say he's a foodie...does he like to cook or maybe have the desire to be a better one? My SO got me a gift certificate to use for a cooking class where we helped prepare a 4-course dinner. Got to eat the meal we cooked and drink wine afterwards...was fun.I always look at Christmas and birthdays to buy something for someone that they wouldn't normally buy for themselves. Sometimes they'll really need something and you can get that for them...but I think it's about "treating" someone. That's why I try to pay attention when we're out or shopping around and my SO will look at something she likes but say..."but I don't need that," "I've already got something similar," or "I wish this wasn't so expensive." In terms of guys, last year whenever we ran into a buddy of mine I would always say..."I really like Brooks' jacket." So she got some a similar style coat for Christmas that I wasn't expecting. That's all I got.

so he's been banging it out for 4 months, and hanging out with you since you're cool, but he's not actually had to commit to anything or "DTR"?To me, it sounds like the guy already has his gift, to me.
12/5/2012 10:03:33 AM
A bottle of testosterone, for starters. Wouldn't go balls deep (heh) on a gift to this dude, if you don't know where you stand with him. Small/cheap, but interesting and thoughtful. You go big, you may freak him out a little bit.
12/5/2012 12:06:36 PM
STEP 1. Have the relationship talk. (Seems you are already in love with him)STEP 2. If he says no (he gets no gift) keep it moving.STEP 3. .......depends on step 2

Does he have a good sense of humor? The Darwin Awards come in books and are always hilarious, good for people who travel a lot and fans of NPR.Cirque show tickets are a FANTASTIC idea. There are tons of iaccessories, a lot of which would make great gifts. http://www.macdecals.com/macbook-decals has a lot of fun stuff (http://www.amazon.com/MacBook-Decal-Apple-skin-sticker/dp/B00687PM8E/ref=pd_sim_sbs_misc_3) remains my favorite. There are also likely books for world wide wines and beers and such, trips to breweries, et cetera, if his travel is global. One thing that I know a lot of South Americans in the US miss is fresh squeezed juice available at market stands, so you could also get a juicer of some sort, if this is something he's mentioned beforeIt sounds like you've got some great ideas already, so good luck!

H8R if only we weren't separated by such distance
12/5/2012 1:33:16 PM
Ehh if you've only been dating for 4 months I wouldn't exchange gifts personally or if I did it would be something inexpensive but thoughtful. Especially would not shelling out money for Cirque tickets. Those suckers are expensive if you want decent seats. My husband and I had been dating for about 3 months when our first Christmas rolled around. We didn't exchange gifts and I was perfectly happy not having to deal with it
12/5/2012 1:34:49 PM
^ Yeah, that's why I'm trying to figure out how to make a little gesture, but without going too crazy. Cirque is very cheap for me due to my work connections.

if not previously done, allow him to go 5-holeif previously done, allow it again

HmmmPerhaps I should create an Urban Dictionary Wheel of Fortune game?
12/5/2012 1:43:55 PM
If he has a particular hobby or interest he's really into, that's probably your best starting point. I remember when I was dating one guy for less than a year before Christmas and he was really into some obscure TV show from when he was a kid and lamented the fact he couldn't watch it anymore. I managed to find DVD recordings of the show on Ebay for something like $5 for the entire series. There was no official release of the show (probably still isn't lol) so the quality was like watching a VHS from the 80s but he was so ridiculously happy. But then it turned out he was a jerk so the relationship didn't last
12/5/2012 1:45:15 PM
^ That's cool! What was the show?I turned him on to Soul Train and now he's obsessed with the youtube vids. He moved to the states in '98 and apparently missed out on all the horrible TV that there is.I could make a terrible mashup vid of all the 80s and 90s pop culture gems that he might like. 12/19/2012 5:02:30 PM
Is he that metro??
12/19/2012 5:30:12 PM
I must have a thing for metro dudes. He has monogrammed towels, wears True Religion jeans and is obsessed with fab.com.But at least he doesn't have a tramp stamp like my ex!
12/19/2012 5:35:16 PM
Ha. Well you dress very nice and seem fashionable...it would make sense that you are into dudes with similar interests. If he uses a ton of those products...then it sounds like a good idea.
12/19/2012 5:42:57 PM
It's half tech goodies, half men's grooming products. Hmmm...
12/19/2012 5:45:36 PM
omg I ♥ fab.com, thx for telling me about it: http://fab.com/sale/12974/also I don't understand the reputation of True Religion, I mean their site makes it look like they sell manly jeans for manly men~
12/19/2012 6:08:50 PM
^ If you like fab.com, you'll probably also like uncovet.com. OpenSky.com is my favorite since you can follow athletes and tv/film personalities, but a lot of their items are more practical. So, gift is wrapped, but may still add a birchbox. Decisions, decisions.

Breitling watches on woot. Most of them are pretty ugly and its obvious why they are on woot, but the Montbrilliant looks nice. http://www.woot.com/plus/breitling-watches-for-bright-young-men
12/20/2012 10:20:46 AM
get him Buckyballs. It's stupid getting guys practical things. We like completely dumb things with no purpose too, and this is the easier thing to shop for. If a man needs a tool, he can buy it himself.I have seen some fantastic things herehttp://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/We can't know what specifically he'll like, but there's probably something there he'll love.
12/20/2012 10:27:29 AM
How about inviting one of your friends into the bedroom with the two of you and let him fuck the other guy while you watch.

^^^ shoot. Buckyballs would have been awesome. Also, LOVE that site! He actually saw the toilet coffee cup the other day on Amazon (for half the price) and thought it was the most hilarious thing ever. He basically has everything techie that he could ever need, so I got him 2 monogrammed stockings, one for him and one for his dog. Dog's stocking contains dog cookies and dog beer. His stocking contains the following:1) A long-sleeved Lululemon workout top, made with their silverescent no-stink material2) A wine aerator (he's very into wine, but forgets to decant)3) A cool block puzzle (he really likes those, for some reason)4) Little mini squares of dark chocolate with sea salt5) A Hair-of-the-Dog kit (I made it), with ibuprofen, bandaids, a $40 gift cert to our fav restaurant, 2 mini-bottles of Ciroc vodka and superglue (inside joke... one night we went out and had too much fun, and he cut his face badly and used superglue in lieu of getting stitches)May still add birchbox. On the fence.^ BAHAHAHA I want that for ME! Where can I get one?[Edited on December 20, 2012 at 10:39 AM. Reason : d]
