these aren't radical feminists, these are girls that want to play that don't feel comfortable playing in an online social atmosphere of men. there are lots of gaming groups for women, specifically to get them over that hurdle and good enough so that they feel they can play with men.
5/12/2014 9:37:53 AM
It's probably due to the fact that anytime a gamer identifies herself as a girl it turns into "TITS OR GTFO" or dudes just constantly trying to egame them. While some girls revel in such attention, for most of them, it just turns them off to playing the game or playing with men in general.

Weird, often when I play online I'm called a faggot and any number of other homophobic slurs and violent threats....and somehow I manage to ignore it without having a nervous breakdown. Is the thought that women are as capable as I am of dealing with trolls online so offensive? I guess I just regard them as adults rather than children.

soon™ Allegedly May 29th in case anyone on here hasn't heard yet. Everyone is supposed to get single player vs AI immediately and incrementally get multiplayer based on how early they backed. I backed the week of the official announcement so hopefully I get multiplayer somewhat early. (still over 30k people ahead of me)[Edited on May 21, 2014 at 7:48 PM. I'm like number 200k which is odd since there are only 45k backers.
5/21/2014 8:28:59 PM
Im thinking about joining Imperium.... Anyone else in an organization already?
5/21/2014 11:22:13 PM
<----- I'm in The Four Aces org.
5/21/2014 11:44:21 PM
Any particular reason why you picked that one?Im curious. I want to be recruited... I will play alot, and want a mature and organized team. I don't want noobs on my team. I want people who are experienced/veterans and are serious about the game. I worry with a huge group like Imporium, there will be a lot of novices who won't live up to my standards [Edited on May 22, 2014 at 12:26 AM. Reason : .]

I just threw a line out on the SC official forums and they impressed me the most. I'm currently running Planetside2 Ops with them (whenever I feel like playing Planetside 2).

I love the game so far... Can't wait for more reatures to come out and for custom key maping.

So should I pay to get in on the alpha?
11/20/2014 12:51:21 PM
^ only consider it if your computer is a BEAST. I can run skyrim heavily modded at 40-50 fps and can barely walk across my hanger. the controls don't feel natural to me either, though they have been improving lately.[Edited on November 20, 2014 at 7:24 PM. 11/20/2014 7:23:16 PM
^Agree with this guy. I run skyrim at 40-50 fps, also heavily modified, and at 2560x1600. But SC chugs. Then again, it's early on, so there's a lot of room for optimization. I'm waiting for it to be completed before considering a new build. Enjoying the Xbone and thinking of picking up a PS4 in the meantime.
11/25/2014 11:04:00 AM
Im waiting to get a newer graphics card when SC releases. I guess I should be practicing my dog fighting, but its hard when you only get 20fps on the lowest settings. Besides, everything is still subject to change right?
11/30/2014 10:20:47 PM
Yeah the requirements just seem too insane for me to even try this on my 770.

What's the word on requirements
12/24/2016 2:57:00 PM
Only thing I don't like about the videos I've seen about this game is how long it seems to take to do get places, especially on foot.
12/24/2016 4:04:45 PM
Most MMO's end up putting fast travel into games for a reason. But it would go against most everything this game is trying to do.Im not sure how this will work long term. Might end up being a campers paradise or a battle field game in space?
12/25/2016 12:19:45 AM
I would NOT get my hopes up about this game realizing any of the promises from the kickstarter
12/25/2016 6:48:29 PM
Fuck fast travel. It made games more accessible to us old fogies that have no time but largely ruined immersion. I'm fine with some forms like caravans in moorowind or teams in WOW though. Back to ur game discussion.
12/26/2016 12:48:26 AM
How fun is star marine?
12/26/2016 7:53:45 PM
havent had a chance to play it yet. But one of the more interesting things about this project is the different groups of people they are able to build the game towards. There are people who only want to be on the boarding party (FPS). Be the people who clear the larger ships after they're disabled.Likewise some people only intend to mine, trade, escort ship, pirate, mercenary, bounty hunter etc. They are going to have interdiction. Larger ships have higher top end speeds, so its possible to accelerate away from smaller pirates if you can survive long enough. The absurd amount of money this game has raised allows for all of it. It kind of reminds me of an old text based MUD.Just chaos really. Anyone can be anything and do anything because there are no real levels. Its 100% skill based and your leveling ends up being money. And rarer items.[Edited on December 26, 2016 at 9:37 PM. Reason : fsdf]

So... I lost interest in this while still under development a while back ago (maybe 12-16 months ago?) Is there a single player out now? Before it was all just module releases and teasers. Is the game active now?
7/14/2017 8:34:00 AM
Single player Squadron 42 will be released 'soon'. Months? Basically they have the foundation systems/pipelines in place to produce the MMO game they envision. Procedurally generated moons, ship pipe lines, NPC AI, functioning first person shooter incorporated into gameplay, etc. They have studios around the world working around the clock to start populating the game now that the structure is there. Here is a fantastic video of what it took to get to procedurally generated content.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbEKn6gN4Qk&t=3s[Edited on July 14, 2017 at 10:34 AM. Still under development. Version 3.0 coming out soon for alpha/beta testing. Biggest update is multi planet landing. Fully spherical planets thousands of kilometers in Dia. This is probably the biggest change in alpha testing. A huge dump of the proceduralized tech.Citizen Con Keynote addresshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGcG0g7GsOICommentary of clipshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoG8mNFXZEsBase building shiphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXR55lxmEVgMakes your head spin with the kind of game play that will happen on near life sized planetary bodies. Needing sleep, food, fuel, etc. You cant just jump across the galaxy forever. Corporations will need bases to extend their reach. Bigger ships need fuel dumps. Pirating of all these things would be hard to stop. Paying for AI security etc.It almost seems like too realistic.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdrGvTm6xDgAnd this is really interesting on how they are improving FPS game play. Feet stepping over or on objects on the groud vs clipping through them. How footsteps interact with procedurally generated planets surfaces.[Edited on November 2, 2017 at 8:13 AM. Reason : fsdf]

development is cool. I'm waiting for when the squadron 42 is ready. I haven't been keeping up with it, so maybe it's already out, idk. But i've got other distractions at the moment, so I"m cool waiting some more. Insane how much they've done for this one platform; i love it!
