Sure it is:Put Op on the stand..DA: Did the defendant admit to taking pictures of you? OP: YesPut the Defendant on the stand...Defense: Did you admit to taking pictures of your accuser? Defendant: No. Could you charge the kid? Sure could. But, why? There are plenty of times that I find myself meeting the elements of the crime but realize that in court, it won't hold water. Also, to charge a juvenile, you file a petition and the majority of them never get filed and set for trial because the minor doesn't have a record or the charge isn't that serious. Its like saying, hey look what I found, you think we should proceed type deal. Its a colossal waste of time.

I'm pretty much in the "let it go" camp, but to be honest, I'd consider calling Child Protective Services and making sure they were aware of the situation. You're right in thinking that the weirdest thing about this story was the (non) reaction by the parents. This is the sort of situation that a lawsuit isn't going to do a damn thing, but you'd like to think that the parents will at least make sure it doesn't happen again. From the way you described it, it sounds like it was a fairly routine thing in their family.

dude, in another 10 years you'll be paying a stranger to stick his finger up your butt. is it really such a big deal that some sexually confused teenager snapped a picture of your dick?who has time for this shit? move on[Edited on October 22, 2012 at 9:10 PM. Reason : .]

Wow, my first take after reading the OP was that you over reacted. I mean really you're trying to press charges? WTF. Did he take a picture of you with your panties on or something?Personally I would have chased him down just to scare him a bit and make him think about the stupid shit he just did. But I don't think I would have went as far as wasting two hours and dicking around with the police.
10/22/2012 11:04:56 PM
I expected a thread about trying to take covert pix of hooters
10/22/2012 11:36:06 PM
shoulda peed on him
10/22/2012 11:47:22 PM
if a stranger came out of a restroom physically restraining my child, as a parent I would automatically move to protect my child. the fact that the family didn't respond to this throws up a shit ton of red flags. The kid needs help. I would call child protective services (or someone similar?) and inform them of the whole situation.
10/23/2012 12:11:24 AM
^ or he's done this before and they're fed up with him.but you make a good point.

My main advice would be to learn the difference between cue and queue./chitchatAnd I'd drop it.

I feel sorrier for the kid than the OPHe's obviously fucked up/sexually confused, and now he's been humiliated (and rightfully so) and shamed to hell in front of lots of people. this will probably haunt him for life. somehow, i think the OP will survive

\/ Whoops. I stand corrected. And this is a child who will learn from the reaction to this situation. He committed a crime and deserves punishment for his actions. If he deserves leniency that's not your decision to make.He should count himself lucky that he was caught by someone who could show enough restraint to do what is right. His chances of doing this to some dude who would rather beat his teeth out are pretty high at the state fair[Edited on October 23, 2012 at 8:52 AM. Reason : ]

Read the OP:
10/23/2012 8:36:50 AM
I feel like at this point I'm probably in the let it go camp. I do agree though that the parents reaction changes the situation a little. If it had been me I probably would have done the same as far as running out and grabbing the kid and hauling him off to his parents expecting them to shame him and yell and apologize or something. Either that or I simply would have taken the phone and tossed it in the toilet and said there we are even and gone about my business.
10/23/2012 9:29:45 AM
wow - I think there has been too much time worrying about this shit already. Move on with your life & your dick.Maybe the kids had the same problem as this one, except instead of drawing he took pictures:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbiH97F5Hsk

do you guys know what 14 year olds look like? it's laughable that a grown person would clobber someone who is not even halfway through puberty. that would be more shocking than the original act
10/23/2012 11:34:48 PM
maybe you were a late bloomer, but a good portion of 14 years olds are physically mature.
10/23/2012 11:55:34 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pubertyalong with being physically immature, 14 year olds are also mentally immature. this often pervades throughout adulthood. see: smath74
10/24/2012 12:01:23 AM
you can link wikipedia all you want. i work primarily with 14 year-olds every day. a large number of them are as tall and large as they are going to get at 14.
10/24/2012 12:26:45 AM
10/24/2012 8:14:35 AM
I would have taken his phone and told him to fuck off and turned it in to the cops. You really did not gain anything by dragging him around the fair by the neck except for giving him an excuse to charge you with assault if you were wrong.
10/24/2012 8:22:15 AM
^ This. And why did you leave the scene of the crime when your wife went to get security? Isn't that going to make it hard for security to then find you?
10/24/2012 8:23:35 AM
10/24/2012 11:19:19 AM
Wait, you're saying a large number of 14 year-old kids are done growing? What?^I agree, a lot college-aged adults look like kids to me.
10/24/2012 11:29:42 AM
That's why so many 14-year olds opt to skip high school and go straight into the NBA.

i know we're getting off subject, but the vast majority of 14-yr old kids aren't done growing. I find it pretty ludicrous that you're trying to argue that. The vast majority of high school seniors are still growing, and they're not "late bloomers", as you keep suggesting. They're normal.
10/24/2012 1:57:08 PM
Holy shit, I'd have probably posed for the damn camera if I saw that. At most grabbed the kid and handed him over to his parents, but getting the cops involved? Then again he needs to learn a lesson before he gets caught by the wrong person, and it's a 50/50 shot these days on whether "parents" will do any real parenting. Kid's 14 and curious/confused/worried about how is own kid-wang measures up, I wouldn't ruin his life over it.Upon further reflection, you probably did the right thing. I just don't think I'd have taken it that far, maybe let his redneck dad beat the snot out of him and let him grow up a twisted killer and end up in an ID Discovery documentary in a couple decades[Edited on October 24, 2012 at 2:15 PM. ^^ok if you say so. This whole "debate" started when adultswim assumed that the kid was "not even halfway through puberty"my reponse was that a good amount of kids are done growing by then. because. they. are. On average are they done at 14? no. Did I ever argue that? no.
10/24/2012 2:09:39 PM
I wouldn't want to destroy this kid's life either, but if they want to compare, don't they have access to infinite internet wang?
10/24/2012 2:10:13 PM
I was done growing at 14pictures of me in 8th grade are pretty hilarious because I look like a giant compared to everyone elsethere were even some teachers freshman year of high school who thought I had been held back a few yearssadly everyone caught up and eventually grew taller than me, but it was fun while it lasted
10/24/2012 2:23:30 PM
I was a "late bloomer." None of my friends were and I had to be very quick to avoid being the punching bag of our group. There are plenty of full-grown 14-year olds...end of that discussion.
10/24/2012 2:30:01 PM
plenty of full-grown kids in middle-school? ok, gotcha, must be all the hormones in the milk these days. I'm just glad they weren't at my middle-school, or smear-the-queer and full-contact basketball would have been a lot more dangerous. I was probably about 5 feet tall, like most of my friends.[Edited on October 24, 2012 at 2:44 PM. Reason : ]

I figure the embarrassment of being exposed publicly in front of his family is punishment enough for a 14 year old.
10/24/2012 4:49:14 PM
I wasn't a 'late bloomer' I was 5'11 by the time I was 15 and had to start shaving shortly thereafter.I still wasn't a full grown adult until I was at least 19 or 20.14 year olds are kids, not men. Jeez
10/24/2012 4:50:16 PM
some study recently suggested that the majority of victims of sexual crimes who pursued the perp in court report that they often wish they hadn't filed charges, and find the police interviews/trial or hearings to be even more traumatic than the event...
10/24/2012 5:29:58 PM
that's a shamenobody should be discouraged from taking some asshole to court over sexual assaultand taking pictures of men's dicks without their consent is a type of sex crimehe's 14: he's old enough to know betterI mean, would you guys feel the same way if he were snapping upskirt pics of women instead? ^ no. Good to turn him in, probably nothing big to worry about but better safe than sorry. And always remember no one ever gets busted the first time they do something. And it doesn't matter when a kid goes through physical puberty. Their sexual identity and brain development is still going through massive change (not to mention hormonal changes) well into the late teens and early 20's
