is there an Android version of this, by chance?

Sorry, no. I wish there was. Might be something similar, but I wouldn't know what.

Classic Ironman is pretty fun. The hardest part is starting off - your guys just suck without carapace armor, and no combat reflexes makes it really hard to handle aliens that spam overwatch. Totally different game and fun if you can climb out of month 3 with 7+ satellites.Thin Men having 4hp is balls.^^ A year ago I bought a really low-graphics game called Xenowar for $3. It was a very striped down xcom, nothing too original, but got about 10-20 hours out of it.

Is there a way to buy new interceptors?
11/13/2012 10:49:34 PM
You mean buy replacement Interceptors, or whether you can get different types of fighters?

there's only two types of interceptors... Really wished this game had way more variety for items, ships, weapons and such on. For such a great tactical game, campaign sucks ass.

It's very simplified, which is fine. I kind of feel like there should've been a third tier of aliens/weapons (laser was too fast a transition - but something beyond plasma would be nice). Same with air stuff - once you get Firestorms you can murder anything with a couple satellite mods.

As an original xcom player i feel like things should be a little more complex.I'm at month 4 in standard mode (going to have to go to hardcore)I have lost 1 soldier, everyone else on my 6 person team is ether top rank or 1 below (they have been around forever)I haven't upgraded past the first armor, but I haven't needed to.I just took out the 1st alien base, I captured the sectoid commander (psonic) and now I'm building a PSY lab. BTW the old xcom trick, where aliens wont change inventory worked beautifully. I changed everyone over to their standard pistols, so even after he MC my guy, i could just ignore him.I lost one country, on month 2, but thats because I was an idiot and didn't understand the satallite stuff.I'm about ready to build a hyperwave decoder....And i see almost no ufos?

I also found that normal difficulty was a complete pushover. However, I kind of feel like this new incarnation of XCOM may be best thought of as a launching pad for new games. Firaxis was (by and large) so faithful to the original game that I can't help but guess that they wanted to see if they could bring back the XCOM hardcore fans as well as interest a new generation in this game. Since this game has been a decent critical success, I'd be very interested if the decision has been made to proceed with a sequel. I know that add-on packs for this game are coming, but I don't know how many aspects of the core game (e.g. new tech tree items) will change. Time will tell.

i'm still slowly getting into the game, but hoping someone can answer a question:is there a way to get more of skyrangers? or are you limited to the one?
11/20/2012 11:24:31 AM
Unfortunately, you're limited to just 1. This is the biggest departure from the original game, as in it you could have multiple bases and several response teams scattered around the earth. (Not to mention the sheer number of XCOM soldiers which you could take on a mission...)

i guess thats to keep you perpetually having to make tough decisions between where to go. i just like the idea that with planning you could hit more than 1

Hopefully the next game will let you...

been playing a lot of xcom lately. I've beat it a few times on normal. I find the end game too easy. I killed the last boss by mimicskin + alloy cannon double shot from assault. MEC are gods the first two months of the game. I invested so much into them and to see them suck ass at the end. They take 8-10+ per enemy it seems right there towards the end and just get sacked pretty quick.I've been thinking about getting Long War addon
