Phase 2 will finish this summer. All traffic between MM 294 and 300 will be back to normal pattern. They'll then go to finish 294-293 and 301-300, then late in the year put the final pavement later down and finish landscaping and signage and what not. So the whole thing will finish late this year. Then, soon after, the project to widen the 301-312 will begin.

^ Was about to say theres some sections which are way behind, but then i realize those sections are the ends which you called out.

I cant wait until they do the widening between 70 and 42. Itll be way past due when it even gets started.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?

It would appear that construction is finished for the west bound section of I-40 from 298 to 295. They've repainted the lanes (to widen the left side shoulder) and removed all traffic cones. But despite widening the road by over 50 feet all them seem to have done is added an extra lane that extends from 297 to 295?!? Who the fuck needs an exit only lane for Gorman Street? The amount of traffic coming off that road (westbound) is laughable. And the Gorman Street overpass bridge has been widened...for apparently no reason? There are only 3 lanes going across that bridge, same as pre-construction.

What the fuck is going on here?

sometimes more lanes don't really help, but giving enough room on the shoulder for fender benders and disabled vehicles to get out of the travel lanes can be a big help

That will certainly help prevent fender benders, but only back to "pre-construction" levels. Meanwhile in the 3 years since construction began I can only guess at the increased rush hour flow from people moving to the area. And this stretch can easily support 2 full-sized shoulders and a 4th lane.

I'm guessing that this is the best thread to post this:
