This is like monopoly where you can't get that final piece to start building houses.
6/23/2012 8:49:10 AM
Are you saying we're gonna start charging people rent to stay in houses on top of the staal brothers?
6/23/2012 8:59:51 AM
Not a great trade. This is not like having one sedin twin and trading for the other.I like sutter better than staal and you guys traded sutter and a 1st and Dumoulin for him.[Edited on June 23, 2012 at 10:01 AM. Reason : I know the staals arent twins]
6/23/2012 9:57:55 AM
you like Sutter better than Staal based on what?
6/23/2012 10:06:56 AM
^^ hey guy, I loved Sutter too, but there is no fucking question what so ever that Jordan Staal is a HUGE upgrade]

As a Pens fan, I'm pretty satisfied with this trade after the initial shock. It obviously hurts to lose Staal, especially on the penalty kill, but Sutter immediately fills the void Staal left. Jordan wanted more minutes and more offensive responsibility. Can't say that I blame him, he was never going to get that behind Crosby and Malkin. I also don't know why I've seen people penciling him in on a line with Eric. If anything, I would think that Jordan centers the second line. I like Jordan, and I like the Canes, so I hope the trade works out for everyone.Add in the fact that the Penguins traded away Michalek yesterday too and now they've got cap space to go after some bigger names in free agency.

Brandon Sutter has yet to speak to the media, and is evidently stunned by the trade, per the twitters.
6/25/2012 9:05:50 AM
I wish they would have traded Larose...Sutter will be a very good player. It totally sucks that he's leaving.
6/25/2012 9:07:03 AM
6/25/2012 9:28:51 AM
^^ LaRose is needed to play on the Staal/Staal line. I mean you know it will happen at some point this season
6/25/2012 11:31:44 AM
with Maurice gone, the only way Larose is on the top line is bc of injuries
6/25/2012 11:40:18 AM
I've been wishing for a LaRose trade since 2008. You can't trade a player no one wants.
6/25/2012 11:43:33 AM
true
6/25/2012 11:44:29 AM
6/25/2012 11:47:53 AM
I don't remember Larose playing 1st line minutes under Lavi. Top 6 due to injuries, or needing to shake things, up, sure. But consistent top line?
6/25/2012 12:17:07 PM
At the end there Chad was getting a nice uptick in ice time from Lavi. It definitely saw a boost in the Mo 2.0 era, but Muller continued that, consistently playing LaRose on the top line in the second half of the season. Ice time per game for Char LaRose:05-06 10:3406-07 10:1207-08 14:0308-09 15:0809-10 15:4210-11 16:0011-12 16:45
6/25/2012 12:36:11 PM
Just for kicks in pre-season we need to throw Jared, Jordan, and Eric on a line together. Just to see if they can get a goal by Staal with assists by Staal and Staal [Edited on June 25, 2012 at 1:19 PM. Reason : .]
6/25/2012 1:19:12 PM
LOL
6/25/2012 2:05:39 PM
I'm going to miss Brandon Sutter.
6/25/2012 2:57:38 PM
Not a big Chad fan myself but he had the 3rd most goals on the team this last season, behind only Staal and Skinner. He had 1 more than Ruutu in 5 less GP.I mean it's tough to call these things seeing as increased minutes on top line is obviously going to yield more goals, so it's not like he was completely useless. I wouldn't mind keeping him around if we were paying him something less than $1.7 million.
6/25/2012 8:51:50 PM
I think LaRose is on a pretty nice contract given what he brings to the table. Never really understood the hate for the guy. Obviously he shouldn't be near the top line or probably top 6 on a good team, but that anger should be directed at the GM and coach, not the player.
6/25/2012 9:45:01 PM

6/25/2012 9:58:35 PM
I will continue to glady wear his jersey to every home game I attend
6/25/2012 10:04:54 PM
+1 for Chad Larose supporter
6/25/2012 10:19:26 PM
I don't have anger towards Chad. Chad is a good guy. I have frustration towards the fact that he plays on the top lines and we have far more talented players below him that could be utilized.
6/26/2012 9:42:42 AM
Niclas Wallin likely retiring after suffering four concussions last season, reports Swedish newspaper Norrländska Socialdemokraten
6/27/2012 11:37:23 AM
4 in one season?!?!
6/27/2012 12:09:50 PM
I've long been a Chad hater, and most of the time it was because the guy can't finish. I can't count the number of point blank misses he had on top of scoring chance after scoring chance wasted. That being said, I shouldn't really dislike the guy. He brings it every shift, and that's why he gets top 6 minutes. In high school hockey, that's acceptable. In the NHL, shame on the coaches and GM for putting him in that situation. Has anyone been hearing JRs interviews lately? He keeps talking about going after a D player not named Allen and Spacek, while also hoping to get both of them signed. He also keeps saying he wants another top O guy, but says that might not be possible.
6/28/2012 9:56:51 AM
Make it rain JR, make it rain.
6/28/2012 10:34:09 AM
IT BEGINS
6/28/2012 11:27:56 AM
too bad Murphy bolted and Andersen wouldnt sign. Both could have had a shot. Now we must resign ourselves to Peters. l
6/28/2012 11:35:30 AM
I really had high hopes for Boucher as a backup, but damn he's going down fast. The shitty thing is that he also tweeted that JR won't buy out his contract, which would allow us to go out and sign a #2 that isn't Peters. The dude is gonna be 26 when the season starts and while he's shown some progression, I doubt he's ever going to be more than a mediocre backup.EDIT: Didn't realize Peters was a UFA. Well that gives me some hope for a decent backup, but we still have the dead weight of Boucher's contract.[Edited on June 28, 2012 at 11:57 AM. Reason : -]
6/28/2012 11:51:23 AM
I think Peters deserve a chance. Every year he has gotten better and he would be cheap.
6/28/2012 12:19:30 PM
We retained Murphy, is there a chance this new development persuades him back from Moscow?
6/28/2012 2:05:43 PM
It seems as is Evgeni Dadonov has signed with KHL Donbass.I'm sure we'll hold on to his rights -- hope he comes back, I liked what I saw of him as a Panther and had some hope he'd turn out to be a solid player for the Canes.
6/28/2012 5:56:03 PM
I think the Canes knew about Dadanov doing that for a while. In my opinion the KHL is a legitimate place for guys to go so they can make real money and not have to stay in the AHL. I think it's good to have a "rival" league like that.
6/29/2012 10:00:02 AM
6/29/2012 10:21:55 AM
Well, the theory behind a rival league then perhaps is a good idea.I think there is talent in the AHL that is being wasted because the right spots aren't open in the NHL. I actually think I had heard of that stuff going on Dammit, Russia is nuts!
