any kind of way except sugar. I like butter with salt and pepper, with cheese, or with red eye gravy. I also like to break up my bacon and add it to the grits.

I like mine in the traditional sense:
Cooked with: 2 cups water, 1 cup grits, salt
Served with: Pool of butter and covered in the messy remains of my morning eggs.

My wife prefers what we call "chicken grits" though, so we eat these more often
Cooked with: 2 cups Chicken Broth (or 2 cups water + chicken bouillon cube), 1 cup grits, salt
Served: Covered in the messy remains of my eggs.

^^ we do that, but beef instead of chicken. Sometimes I add some cream. Beef and cream sound really weird in grits, but I found a recipe years ago that called for that combination and I've been hooked ever since.
