LOL.

Had one of the top defenses in the league. Fire defensive coordinator. Defense falls apart.

Now instead of being an average team you're one of the worst in the league.

I think I saw a little drool in the corner of Gruden's lips when he was commenting on Reid's future at the end of this season

Face, please keep your nonsense contained to your doom and gloom stock market predictions.

Philly's defense has been terrible all year. Firing Castillo made no difference one way or the other. They are as bad now as they were in every other game this season.

^I paid close attention to Gruden all night. You could tell there was a little pep in his step and his usual smirk was a little bigger, but overall I thought he did a pretty good job of remaining neutral on Reid's job even though he probably just got done talking to Lurie about coaching next year.

LOL @ Jason Babin. What a doucher.

Kinda hoping Asomugha is next. He is a high priced fraud too.

After they fire Reid, I hope they bring back Castillo at his old OL coach sopt. That'd be funny.

Fact:
The Phillies have won a game more recently than the Eagles.

Welp, it was kinda entertaining up until about 5:00 left in the 4th. Brown needs to hold on to the motherfucking ball. Collinsworth called it after his first carry. He said he was gonna fumble if he keeps carrying the ball like that. Looked good otherwise. Foles looked okay too given his limited supporting cast. It figures they start to run the ball at a point in the season it doesn't matter anymore. Made the OLine look ... average.

This is going to be Reid's last week. I thought they'd let him finish the season, but they aren't going to. And it won't even be because he just lost 8 in a row. It's because he is ride or die with Vick. He is Dr Frankenstein and Vick is his monster. Vick is going to be cleared of his concussion to play this week. There were rumors he's been cleared to play for 2 weeks now and they can't err on the side of caution any longer. Reid is going to insist that Vick is the starter even though the season is over. Lurie and Roseman want to see Foles. Reid won't back down and will get fired over this instead of his terrible record.

It's time to start clearing house of the dead weight and lousy contracts. They already did the right thing by cutting Babin. I'd like to see Philly cut Asomugha too. He is so suspect and his rent is too damn high. The entire secondary can go for that matter. They tackle like a pop warner team. And it pains me to say this... but I think it would be best if they tried to trade Shady McCoy in the offseason for draft picks. Sure, having a stud RB would make it easier to rebuild a team around, but RBs have a limited shelf life in the NFL. It would be a sin to waste his remaining good years on a team that is rebuilding and he is such a nice and likable guy. Might as well sell while the price is high. There are a dozen contenders that would give up a 1st and 2nd/3rd for him. I would wish him the best wherever he went as long as it wasn't the NFC east.

Lurie will end up going with the hot young offensive coordinator as the next HC... Mike McCoy in Denver or Dirk Koetter in Atlanta.

I'd like to see them try to woo Bill Polian as a GM and get Roseman to take a back seat regarding player personnel. If not him, I wouldn't mind seeing them take a chance on Ron Jaworski. He has great football IQ, knows Philly, and I think he could really excel in that role.

Then, depending on whether a QB worth taking is available in the draft, go:
1st - QB
2nd - Safety
3rd - OL

Otherwise, take the best safety available.

Why do I put myself through this? None of this is even going to sniff coming true. Being a Philly fan sucks so much.

I would reverse this list... and maybe remove QB.

1st - OL
2nd - Safety
3rd - LB, DE, or another OL (?? I am not sure)

I think if Barkley is available to them, they'd take him. I don't think any new coach is going to want to take on Foles as a project.

When their OL is healthy again next year, they are one of the better lines in the league. I wouldn't say top 5, but top 10 is no stretch. They just need some depth. They were exposed by injuries this season. Howard Mudd will probably be gone after this season too.

Mudd has said this is his last year no matter what and he is retiring (again). On a potential positive note, ticket resale prices may go down next year so I can attend a few games and watch the rebuilding begin

I just find it hilarious that they had such a good defense and tried to scapegoat their defensive coordinator. Then they lose him and their defense completely falls apart to the point where they aren't any better than their offense.

I don't ever really get legitimately butthurt over the internet IRL, but you really do infuriate me in this thread.

Castillo was a bad defensive coach. His defense was bad from the start. It was never even a semblance of anything you can call good on any football measurable unit.

But the firing of Washburn has revealed a lot. A bunch of shit has been coming out in the Philly media regarding the Babin and Washburn moves over the past week. It really makes me feel bad for Castillo. He was such a loyal and good guy. He was a soldier for Reid. He was willing to buy into Reid's philosophies and abide by the chain of command. It sucks that he was willing to risk everything and put himself in a position to fail so openly. I mean ultimately it was all Reid's decision, but Castillo obviously aggressively pushed for the job.

Washburn, on the other hand, apparently came in with a stick up his ass. Reports say he was toxic from day one. He didn't take orders from his DC, he ran his own ship separate from the rest of the defense and the rest of the team, told his players to ignore any schemes that were being implemented and to just follow his orders. He openly mocked Castillo, laughing at his ideas in meetings, getting up and leaving in the middle of defensive meetings, and calling Castillo 'Juanita' in front of other players and coaches.

Yeah, the defense was bad before he got hired, but it has been historically shitty since. The last three or four QBs they've played have put up Hall of Fame numbers on them. As funny as it was to see an o-line coach become a defensive coordinator and then get fired midseason the next year, he wasn't their biggest problem.

I agree. Their defense took a drastic loss and never recovered from the loss of Jim Johnson and the release of Brian Dawkins. My beef is with face thinking they ever had a good defense under Castillo. The poor guy never had a chance. The whole franchise just needs to be blown up and started over from the ground up. It is just too toxic throughout. I wouldn't keep any of the 5 top coaches on this team (HC, DC, DLcoach, OC, OLcoach). And there is only a handfull of players worth rebuilding around.

Yeah I just think it was dumb to scapegoat the DC when they're defense was in the top five or so and keeping the team in the playoff race despite atrocious offense.

Then you fire the DC and the defense immediately turns into one of the worst units in the league. Oops.

OMG you have to be trolling. Badly.

When your offense has the lead going into the 4th qtr and the defense blows the game, 3 weeks in a row, you have a terrible defense. There was a point where Vick and the offense had Philly in the position to be 5-1 in spite of a decimated OLine and all his turnovers... if the defense didn't lose those games in the last couple minutes. What drugs are you one that you think this defense ever sniffed the top 5?

Yeah. Wonderful.

I was so confused and conflicted at the end of this game. A win is great. And I am glad Foles is playing well. But I don't want Reid to have any excuse to stay in Philly at the end of the season. And I know Lurie is gonna reconsider keeping him.

The last 2 plays were called by Foles in the huddle. Andy Reid and Mornhinweg had nothing to do with that win.

I had a 5 game parlay yesterday and the Eagles game was the only one I didn't hit. I guess that's what I get for giving up on my team. Either that, or it just proves that the Eagles will find a way to fuck me over, even when they win.

I don't see how this win would warrant reconsideration on Lurie's part.

It was good to see Reid genuinely excited and happy at the end of the game.

Yeah, that was a bit out of character. Something is suspicious...

I think you underestimate how entrenched Lurie is with Reid in this organization. Lurie's (ex)wife Christina, who is now partial owner of the team and will actually have a say in football decisions going forward due their 'amicable' divorce, is best friends with Tammy Reid. And despite all the negative criticism Reid is getting in the city, I think he genuinely would rather stay in Philly than go somewhere else if given the choice.

More info...

Quote :
"Jeff McLane has an update on the Philadelphia Eagles and Gus Bradley, the Seahawks defensive coordinator who looks to be the leading candidate for Philly's head coaching position. Bradley is flying to Philadelphia today for a second interview, and Jeff is of the belief that the Eagles may not want the day to end without Bradley's signature on a new contract:

.....

.....

Too much smoke here for there not to be any fire, so I still think Bradley is the most likely candidate to become the Eagles' next head coach. But the next eight or nine hours are likely to tell us a lot one way or the other. Stay tuned."

No deal in place the following morning and he is schedule to interview with Jacksonville today. If they let him leave without a deal in place, he won't be coaching in Philly.

No NFL caliber coach is going to be okay taking orders from a sniveling little jew worm who knows nothing about football like Howie Roseman. There are already reports that the previous candidates all say the same thing: None of them want to work for Roseman.
