It's never been so clear why the marketing people I work with all drive Teslas and and other high end luxury cars.

again, he was discussing the people he personally grew up with and worked with. the generalization to all of america was not his.

By truth I mean his own opinion. He said what he thought, rather than making something up.We are training public figures to just give lip service. Unless you have the right opinions.
12/20/2013 10:36:50 PM
and it's also his opinion that gay people are "full of murder" so yeah...Good for him, expressing his unfiltered, bigoted opinion. And good for A&E for acting on their right to yank him from the air. [Edited on December 20, 2013 at 10:44 PM. Reason : Hh]

so we're just going to pretend that there wasn't a reason why his experiences were wrong?and why it's awful to assume that a group of people were happy just because they were happy around him, for a multitude of different reasons?
12/20/2013 10:42:38 PM
Because they can get millions of people to talk about made up controversies.

It's even worse that he went to a college and is still dumber than a brick. Sad waste of money (mbas from most places are jokes too).

ITT degrees gotten on football scholarships in "physical education" are worth something.

Why is everyone so focused on the homosexuality part?I figured people on TWW would be more upset about him comparing drunkenness to bestiality

I'll admit, it never ceases to amaze me when people who make no secret of their conservatism turn out to be decent people, at least in my presence and as far as I've been able to see or hear; usually the more they seem to be good people personally, the more I suspect they're not really as conservative as they say they are (though I still think they're definitely right-of-center).It's like that scene at the end of the South Park movie where Cartman, after his harrowing adventures with Kyle, tells him, "I'm sorry for calling you a Jew, Kyle! You're not a Jew!" except it's less severe and it's about conservatives.
12/21/2013 1:59:42 PM

BUT WHAT ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH
12/21/2013 7:46:28 PM
The comment from lewisje to me is fairly typical. Trash conservatives even though they don't know what we're really about. The media makes us out to be poor, minority hating gun toting God loving invertebrates. If you meet a conservative that doesn't fit that narrative, then by God they aren't really as conservative as they think they are. They're really "right of center." But no, I'm the partisan joke here.
12/21/2013 8:09:13 PM
Really? THIS is the controversy? Political correctness run amock. Dude said what his religious beliefs are, and people accuse him of being hateful, and in doing so, show THEIR hatred far more than anything he did. He might have a lawsuit on his hands at this point, since he was plainly fired for expressing a religious belief.
12/22/2013 8:41:12 AM
A) he hasn't been firedB) he hasn't been discriminated against based on his religion
12/22/2013 8:51:27 AM
He expressed a religious belief. He was disciplined for it.Where do you not see discrimination?
12/22/2013 9:02:21 AM
Probably because he was disciplined to create a manufactured scandal to create a buzz about the show. Maybe they were courting Hobby Lobby as a sponsor.
12/22/2013 9:16:40 AM
He was not disciplined because he is a Christian.

the part that said bible-thumpers should be protected from any consequences of their speechlike in the good repressive old days that ought to be behind us forever
12/22/2013 12:34:24 PM
That would be all fine and dandy, except for the fact that we have laws that say you can't punish someone for a religious belief. And no, his remarks weren't "racist," either. You people need to brush up on your reading comprehension and stop being so quick to label people who simply have a different opinion than you do."this is what I experienced" is not racist, no matter how much you want it to be.[Edited on December 22, 2013 at 1:05 PM. 12/22/2013 1:00:02 PM
He's been publicly saying religious things, it's one of the things he's known for. AE absolutely didn't fire him for expressing a religious belief.^ lol if course he's racist. You can't do a show about self proclaimed rednecks and not trip over a few racists. But he's a dying breed. You all have family members that are equally racist. "If I'm lost at three o'clock in a major metropolitan area...I ask myself: Where would I rather be trying to walk with my wife and children?" he said in explaining why he voted for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012. "One of the guys who's running for president is out of Chicago, Illinois, and the other one is from Salt Lake City, Utah. Where would I rather be turned around at three o'clock in the morning? I opted for Salt Lake City. I think it would be safer."-Phil[Edited on December 22, 2013 at 1:05 PM. Reason : ]

as usual, aaronburro performing mental gymnastics. this isn't about him "expressing his religious beliefs". you really take some ridiculous stances.

12/22/2013 1:07:54 PM
12/22/2013 1:21:09 PM
it's about a guy who was privileged enough to be making millions on a tv show saying some hateful stuff about an entire group of people who aren't harming him or his family in anyway, and his employer firing him because of it, which they have every right to do. same as if his "religious views" included sacrificing young virgins for a bountiful hunt, and his employer firing him after he decided it would be a good idea to announce that. he can have those beliefs. and he can express those beliefs. and his employer can fire him for being an ignorant dumbass who thought it would be a good idea to say that in a public interview.
12/22/2013 1:28:56 PM
and what were the "rest of his statements" that you think were racist? Preferring Salt Lake City to Chicago? So, you think it's A-OK to discipline someone for stating his religious beliefs outside of work? Let's get this on record.as for "what laws were violated," how bout this, from your own link:
12/22/2013 1:56:52 PM
you are just the worsthow is it religious percecution when they've been a-ok with multiple seasons worth of the family espousing Christian views?
12/22/2013 2:00:14 PM
and then they go on to describe all of the situations, none of which A&E violatedbut, like I said,
12/22/2013 2:02:12 PM
^^ That they have accepted other religious statements doesn't excuse them from not accepting this one. You don't get "discrimination credits" that you can spend at a later date.
12/22/2013 2:05:09 PM
its my contention that A&E was well within their rights to terminate him from their show for these simple reasons (and also other more complicated reasons)the fact that you can't respond to the point that A&E is allowed to fire him for his statements about race and eethnicity show that you realize you are wrong[Edited on December 22, 2013 at 2:19 PM. Reason : also, google this term: morality clause]
12/22/2013 2:12:05 PM
it's not my contention that they can't fire him for those other comments. It's my contention that they didn't fire him for those. They fired him for saying homosexuality is a sin and then quoting a Bible verse.
12/22/2013 2:20:07 PM
haha, you realize you are wrong
12/22/2013 2:21:20 PM
