Where can I cop one of those "all wolfpack" shirts they're wearing?

Those are rad and I need one.

Edit: V Oops, you right, they did change that last year. But honestly, no, i didn't really pay much attention last year. It seems silly to call the first game for 60 of the teams the "second-round".

is this the first thing you've read about the tournament?

the round of 64 is now the second round, officially.

"I don't wanna be a center either......"

Reporter: "Rich, I don't mean to keep coming back to you......" Calvin says, "CENTER!" then busts out laughing after Myron the reporter mentions the word center to Rich.

At the 3:05 mark, Calvin says to Rich "That's CJ to you." and Rich replies, "Hush!" LOL

Quote :
""Not really, but I knew who was coming in and I knew the coaches would put us in a great position, well they did put us in a great position... until they got fired." - Rich"

Reporter: "Besides coach, does anyone else call you Calvin?" Rich: "I do." Calvin: "No...no. Coach Gottfried is the only one that calls me Calvin." Rich: "And Richard." LOL

Rich: "The biggest shock for me was the Missouri game. I didn't know who Norfolk St was coming into the game." LOL

<3 all of these quotes. Our team is hilarious.

"RALEIGH -- N.C. State guard Scott Wood compared his teammate Richard Howell to Carmelo Anthony. Wolfpack point guard Lorenzo Brown compared Howell to a bully.

N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried is OK with any comparison for the junior power forward, just as long Howell can stay in the game and off the bench with foul trouble.

Facing a Kansas frontline featuring All-American forward Thomas Robinson and 7-footer Jeff Withey, the Wolfpack is going to need another strong outing from Howell Friday night in the Midwest Regional semifinals in St. Louis.

“If he can stay out of foul trouble, that certainly helps us,” Gottfried said Tuesday after the team’s practice in Raleigh.

Howell exploded for 22 points in the Pack’s second-round win over a smaller San Diego State lineup. He made 10 of his 12 shots, mostly a variety of 15-foot jumpers, prompting Wood to compare Howell to Anthony, the quintessential scoring small forward and New York Knicks star.

Howell filled his usual blue-collar role in Sunday’s third-round win over Georgetown with a game-best nine rebounds and nine points.

With soft hands, a wide body and high basketball IQ, Howell finds his way to loose rebounds. In ACC play, he was third in the league with 8.7 rebounds per game, despite being his listed height, 6-8, only on a “good day,” according to his coach.

“He has learned how to use his body and how to get great position,” Gottfried said. “And he has great hands.”

The biggest issue for Howell this season has not been his size, or his ability to show off his mid-range game. It has been staying out of foul trouble.

He fouled out of five ACC games, including three straight starting with the Pack’s win at Miami on Jan. 22. He also fouled out in back-to-back games with Duke and Florida State, and the Wolfpack is 1-4 when Howell fouls out.

“Frustrated” doesn’t begin to describe Howell’s assessment of the second half of the ACC season.

“My whole junior year, I’ve been in foul trouble,” Howell said.

That’s why Howell said he felt “free” against San Diego State. He made it through the first half without a foul, which helped him pop in 15 points.

Howell ended up with four fouls against San Diego State and racked up another four against Georgetown, but fewer of those calls have been on reach-in fouls or obvious fouls. He was plagued during ACC play with fouls committed 20-to-30 feet from the basket on either reach-ins or body contact while defending screens.

“I’m definitely learning,” Howell said. “I can kind of tell how the refs are going to call the game.”

And Gottfried has noticed. He defended Howell, who has committed a team-high 122 fouls – 36 more than anyone else on the team.

“Sometimes, when I watch the tape, there are times when he has made errors, there’s no question,” Gottfried said. “There other times when I watch and go ‘Boy, I don’t know if that was really a foul.’ He’s just kind of had the unlucky whistle sometimes, too.”

Howell’s ability to adjust to the calls, and stay on the floor, has been a key to the Pack’s postseason success. Adjustments are old hat for Howell, though.

Coming out of high school in Marietta, Ga., Howell wanted to be scoring forward like Anthony, his favorite player.

“I got here and turned into Dennis Rodman,” Howell said. “It’s all cool.”"

We need Rich to be HUGE against T-Rob/Withey tomorrow night. Just hold your own on the glass, don't force shots, and don't foul. That's what we need. Can't try to run the offense through him tomorrow because that never works against bigger frontlines.

I'd like to see something like 30 minutes, 8 points, 10 rebounds, 1 ast on 3/5 FG and 2/2 FT. That's a great game against this front line.

Seriously, if he could just play a little smarter basketball he'd be a monster. He's shown flashes of it here and there all season. There have been times when we've been in the game solely because of his rebounding (and on occasion, his shooting) aggressiveness.

Accountability exists on this team, and Rich is taking it for them. He played not as well as he could have, putting it mildly, but that could be said for a lot of them tonight. If one can't like Rich and his apology, then you, sir, are a sad sack of shit.

I really don't know if he had time to pass it. Howell is the fucking man. He has turned NCSU into a team that can fucking REBOUND. It has been decades since we have had a team that rebounds well. 16 fucking rebounds against Kansas's front line. That is respectable as hell.

Proud of Richard Howell, and his contribution to this team. The loss does not fall on his shoulders, and he is not the only one who made mistakes. He played with heart, and he played well, and quite a few things went against him last night.

Uh, yea...he absolutely had the time.

Doesn't matter because we don't get this far without him. Been one of my favorite players his whole career. It's a shame he isn't 2 inches taller. Or less foul prone

Hes not a passing big man and u can't expect him to make that pass.

It's funny because as much press that wood gets fir being a one demensional scorer, he is a good passer . He is prolly the only guy on the team that would make that pass.

If howell made a clean catch and wood made a clean catch from the pass it would have still been a very close call as to having enough time.

Yeah, doesn't matter. It was a low probability play. You gotta get it to brown on the run. 3 secs was plenty of time to get a good look.

If you want to fault him for not passing, look at every time he caught the ball in the post and tried to back down a seven footer.

It's a great milestone in a big man's development when he realizes that he actually gets better when he passes out of the post. It creates more space and allows him to repost closer to the basket, and it allows the team to win more.

I think for the last play they were working on that Valpo catch and midair pass to the three point shooter, just the initial pass was a bit off and Wood got bumped, Rich had to try and do it himself. Not terrible design, just didn't execute well.

Rich passes well out of the post, that's why he plays the high post a good bit, it gives him 3 options to pass: weak side skip, dump in low post, foul line extended on a "flex" cut. I still contend the passing will only get better when Zo gets a reliable 3 and the spacing gets better. KU game I would have liked him to pitch it out a few times to shooters ala Duke and hope them made a few.
