1/24/2012 10:20:10 PM
the reason moron hates romneys church contributions and 3 million in other charity contributions is because he's willingly sending money to those in need instead of building up the colossal gov't machine needed to send us an extra $10 a month so we can buy food from dollar general and mcdonalds and live in ghettos and be equal and be forced to be taught by shitty teachers in underfunded schoolsLOL he hates that people would give money to the poor out of the kindness of their hearts. we should be forced to do it instead lol
1/24/2012 10:20:49 PM
Wow, the POTUS came out swinging with this one. Backhanding Congress, declaring trade war on China, aggressive American nationalism. This had to be one of the most entertaining SOTU speeches I've heard.

It was an odd comparioson....the triangle is known for being diverse tech...detroit went down because it relied on a single industry. So that vulnerability isnt there...
1/24/2012 11:52:41 PM
Odd? Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina - all swing states. You think Raleigh AND Charlotte getting mentioned was coincidence?

so basically the tax / inequality is going to be his 2012 campaign issue now.Does that sound right to everyone else?I mean, I think it'll work. It's perfectly suited for his competition, be it Gingrich or Romney. I personally just wish there was an option to not give up more civil liberties. Le sigh.

I thought the GOP response was bad. I feel like me and Sen. Daniels live in alternate realities. I do want some type of Keystone pipeline type project though.
1/25/2012 1:34:03 AM
I guess governor Daniels meant well in the GOP response, but every time he opened his mouth all I could hear was: "my state wants to mandate the teaching of creationism in public schools"

^ Yes, to be honest I was expecting some kind of populist approach since they do have to court the 99% if they want a fighting chance in nov. You know that important battle for independent voters and what not, and if Obama's address was considered to be the launch of his reelection campaign, that rebuttal was a spectacular failure for GOP interests.

well if hes your lord and savior he would just say it.instead of implying it,which is one reason he has so many fence-sitters in 2012. his entire presidency is way too open to interpretation.

I still dislike the fact that people will reference capital gains tax (directly or indirectly) with no mention of inflation.Oh, it doesn't change the reality, for typical millionaire return rates it only bumps the real tax rate a few %. I have no problem taxing investment income the same as regular income, the only problem is that ambiguous definition of income. Even recognizing that it can't be accurately quantified, I still think we should try as best as possible to be completely equal in how we tax the 2.
1/25/2012 1:46:11 PM
obama courts millionaires, for your sake he should be slapping them in the mouth, no?
1/25/2012 1:49:11 PM

haha Jon Stewart basically said the same thing as me about Daniels response...about living in alternate realities and pdrankin, daniels is not one of the huge bible thumpers on the GOP side

It's a shame that there isn't an actual Keystone XL Pipeline thread. That having been said, the pipeline isn't even meant for domestic consumption.Perhaps not the most unbiased of sources, but I haven't seen any reputable sources refute it:Oil for Export, Not for U.S. Energy Securityhttp://priceofoil.org/2011/08/31/report-exporting-energy-security-keystone-xl-exposed/Also, fairly old, but there's this gem:Pipeline Review Faced With Conflict of Interesthttp://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/08/science/earth/08pipeline.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all[Edited on January 25, 2012 at 11:32 PM. I call bullshit on that. Lots of oil is being imported into Texas to feed our refineries which then feed product pipelines across America. While we are now only importing 50% of the oil we use, we are still importing friggin' 50%. Only if Canada managed somehow to boost production far in excess of these current imports would exports grow. I guess it is possible our refineries are not set up to process the type of crude Canada would send us. But that would be a temporary situation as refineries switched over to the now cheap Canadian crude. But, either way, it is better to be an exporter than an importer.A good headline for the Obama speech: "Obama Rails Against Bailouts in Speech Defending Auto Bailout"
1/26/2012 1:32:36 AM
this was the worst appeal to the uneducated masses yet.Less jobs, higher taxes, more spending, higher inflation, more dollar devaluation, and more bank bailouts.what did i miss?
