Um, not at all. I outgrew school lunch trays and kid cuisine. I'm not at all freaked out by my food touching unless it's something runny.

Also I would never use a chocolate fountain at a buffet.

lol I'd love to have separated plates

but for now that's what your butter knife is for (put it under the plate so the juices don't run around lol)

Sometimes the juices are supposed to run around, but that doesn't make it a casserole.

^^I hear ya.

But I think you may just be weird about a few things.

Cause there's no way you don't like soups, stews, curry dishes, noodle dishes, pasta dishes, pizza/calzone/stromboli/bruschetta, sushi rolls, stir frys, burritos/enchiladas/quesadillas, etc...plus the 50,000 casseroles in existence.

If you really don't like those things, I would like to non-judgmentally recommend that you work with a therapist to get over your food mixing phobia...you're missing out on a whole world of flavor!

I really want to see divababy eat a burger or sandwich now. Would be very entertaining.

Bread first, then meat, then veggies?

Or veggies, then meat, then bread?

I actually think I'd be healthier if I didn't mix my food up so much.

You can add bacon/onions/cheese to just about anything. Bake it up for a tasty treat all day every day!

No I get it, it's a textbook case of considering yourself to be too good for casseroles because you believe they are for old people and hicks.

I think its a mayo thing

ALSO what the fuck? Gumbo & Jambalaya are some of my favorite things and they were technically created by poor people putting together shit they had leftover in their fridge. Jambalaya is probably a casserole if you think about it, but it's not a fucking casserole okay

You got me, you just described every known kind of casserole. They are all bland and unseasoned food made from canned meats and vegetables.

Absolutely not. If you try to make a casserole with fresh ingredients the redneck police comes and gives you a fine.

Yeah even the word casserole is enough to make me want to

It reminds me of bad pot luck events or church meals where everything is fucking mush but the edges are blackened and it's either over salted or bland as fuck. And made with about 50 cans of cream of ___.

There is no reason a casserole has to taste bad. Mine are always delicious and include things such as chicken tetrazzini, chicken pot pies, the best macaroni and cheese casserole in the world etc.

And the "cream of" soups that are put in there are so the casserole doesn't fall apart.

That was my point

But seriously casseroles can be tasty as hell as long as it's not IMMA TAKE THIS CANNED CHICKEN, VELVEETA, UNCLE BEN'S, AND SOUP AND MIX IT TOGETHER.

Another quick and easy meal is hot pot.

Heat broth, add meat and veggies as you go.

Works best if you have a camping stove you can use at your table. If you've never had it before, there's a Chinese place on Tryon Road that makes a good one.

lol I guess it does kind of look like a bundt pan. Supposedly that design makes the broth heat up faster but no idea if that's actually true.

I love making vegetables like that. I don't care for radishes though, I use onions instead.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Rinse the chicken and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper, then place skin-side up on a rimmed baking sheet. Squeeze 1/2 lemon over the chicken and drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Roast 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, cut the potatoes and radishes in half and cut the scallions into thirds. Toss the potatoes, radishes, carrots and the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a bowl; season with salt and pepper.

Remove the chicken from the oven and scatter the vegetables around it. Continue to roast until the vegetables are tender and the chicken is golden and cooked through, about 20 more minutes. Squeeze the remaining 1/2 lemon over the chicken and vegetables. Top with the dill and season with salt.

If you like more color on your potatoes, you might want to put the veggies in sooner.

I would like to share that this thread helped me successfully shop online for my groceries tonight. I didn't get distracted by unsupervised children nor did I overwhelm myself with excessive judging....It was pretty awesome. I was also surprised to learn the range of price per ounce with chips versus crackers. Your cheaper chips, UTZ, is ranking down there around 35 cents/oz....all the way up to the high rollers- cape cod and lay's: 46-47 cents/oz. Crazy, huh? Then crackers are at around 10 cents/oz. I didn't know that....So, I learned a lot. Thanks, teedub.

Only casserole-esque recipe that I use on occasion is a Reuben Mac-n-Cheese.

Other than that, I agree with DB. Casseroles weird me out.

Also...burgers on the stovetop is pretty quick-cook. Speeds things along a bit if you have a lid to go over the pan too. Saute onions and/or mushrooms in the pan at the same time if it's big enough.

If you make this do yourself a favor and use fresh grated parmesan cheese. Once you go fresh you'll never go back to that shit in the green container again.
