That's horseshit about Wood not working hard. Wood may get 1 screen per offensive set before we pass the ball to inefficient offensive players like Howell or Painter. He needs to get 2-3+ opportunities to get open per offensive set, and that is not something he can do by himself.I think you are imagining some ridiculous scenario where he can just run around more without changes to the offense and get open. Duke's entire offense was designed around getting several looks for Redick. Ours is not designed to do the same for Wood.We do a decent job of getting the ball to the right spot, but we do a less good job of getting the ball to the right people.

Nah, you're wrong, He's pretty damn lazy.
12/11/2011 4:18:36 PM
he's not lazy, he's just limited physically to the point where he can't ever get his shot off unless he's openthe same limitations cause him to commit all his dumb fouls on defense
12/11/2011 4:28:16 PM
I dont have a feed. Is something up with Calvin or is he just not scoring tonight?
12/11/2011 4:29:06 PM
19 points for CJW...new career high.^He was out most of the first half with foul trouble[Edited on December 11, 2011 at 4:29 PM. Reason : ]

Hope Calvin is saving his legs for 'Cuse coming up next week.
12/11/2011 4:29:43 PM
Sheesh.. not liking how close this is.
12/11/2011 4:36:50 PM
Seems like some of the intensity from earlier in the season is missing. Everything is a bit lackadaisical today.
12/11/2011 4:41:29 PM
thank you for being so fucking awesome scott wood
12/11/2011 4:44:11 PM
no wonder we keep choking leads awayour offense when we have to eat clock is AWFUL
12/11/2011 4:50:10 PM
We are regressing. This is a mirror image of the past four years. The honeymoon period with Gottfried is over with these guys. The confidence is gone, the bad habits are back. Wake is going to sweep the series with us and we'll split with GT. Welcome back to the basement.
12/11/2011 4:50:32 PM
we can't hold on to the ball to save our lives^back away from the edge there buddy[Edited on December 11, 2011 at 4:51 PM. Reason : .]

12/11/2011 5:00:32 PM
Hey pack_bryan, you still think we're not going to be perennial bottom-feeders?
12/11/2011 5:01:21 PM
Victory!
12/11/2011 5:02:02 PM
ugly ass win, but I'll take it!
12/11/2011 5:02:19 PM
cj leslie always looks like he is just too cool to be out on the floor with everyone...its like he thinks he is better than everyone else - which might be the case but from a spectator - he just looks plain lazy.

^^Consistently not closing out games you have won is pretty bad no matter what year he's in. If the talent is there he needs to have them in a position to take advantage of it. Instead we have a team full of head cases that are going to keep losing their minds with 7 minutes to play. I'd feel better about the IU and Stanford games if we'd been blown out.

At least with a loss like that you can just accept that we don't have good players. I mean obviously you don't feel good about any loss, but it's better to know early on that there's no hope. Now we're going to spend all season waiting for improvement that will never come.

I don't understand the need for all the ad hominem attacks in here but yeah that's fineTo be clear, I'm sure will win a fluke game or two but we'll lose two we shouldn't for each of those. See y'all next year[Edited on December 11, 2011 at 6:09 PM. Reason : ]

Probably the only time all season I've been disappointed with the effort and focus for more than the final 5 minutes of the game. After coming close against Stanford and IU I hope they can still get up for games like this or else they're gonna have some more close calls. If they played as well as they had in the first 8 games they would've won by 20+, just not a whole lot of execution of the offense. I don't know if TBDV is still hurt, but I would love to see him get some minutes over Painter and Howell. There are a ton of times we lose points just because our bigs can't take the ball up on a rebound and dunk it.
12/11/2011 6:33:11 PM
^^^With a blowout loss you can throw up your hands and move on to the next one. When you have a lead with a few minutes to go and consistently choke (which we've done 4 times now), it creates a "here-we-go-again" mindset that we've heretofore shown no signs of breaking. In other words, if you got blown out in the last game but you're winning at the end of the next one, you'll be feeling pretty good about your chances and probably play with confidence, thinking you're over whatever went wrong last time out. If you can't hold a lead, you'll still play tentatively and unconfidently whether you're winning or not.[Edited on December 11, 2011 at 6:41 PM. Reason : ]
