signed Derrick Brown to an offer sheet, so unless the Knicks match it, he's coming back.
12/9/2011 9:09:31 PM
That's the kind of off-season news I expect from this team
12/9/2011 9:12:23 PM
you say that, but he actually means something to this team

Brown is a quality player. Doubt the knicks will match bc they need to keep the cap room

1-year 7 million? f that
12/13/2011 10:55:10 AM
Hard to believe that Sully would drop that farAlso, Anthony Davis is way too high. He's basically Brandon Wright all over again.
12/13/2011 12:10:35 PM
Sullinger is gonna drop even further. chunky power forwards with no athleticism aren't something most NBA teams drool after. unless you can shoot and rebound like Kevin Love, of course. and Ant Davis is gonna be the first pick in the draft. he's light years beyond Brandan Wright. Davis went from a 6'2 guard to a 6'10 forward/center in a year and didn't lose any of his agility or ball handling skills. as an 18 year old freshman, he protects the rim and rebounds nearly as good as anyone in college basketball. he's gonna be an NBA defensive player of the year. Wright will be lucky if he's ever the 8th man on a decent team.

any team that picks Barnes in the top 5 is making a big mistake. Dude is a great shooter... and that's it. Can't dribble or create for himself.
12/13/2011 3:07:22 PM
^^ Sullinger is more polished but his athleticism isn't in the same stratosphere as Anthony Davis or Andre Drummond...
12/13/2011 3:16:11 PM
12/13/2011 3:20:59 PM
I see Sullinger as a Glen Davis type player in the pros with more polish. A 15 and 8 kind of guy.
12/13/2011 3:23:32 PM
Glen Davis is awful

I guess I'm in the distinct minority that's not ready to crown his ass yet. Dude has game but I'm seriously hesitant to call him a "franchise changer" at this point. If he absolutely dominates all through march I'll be happy to eat crow.[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 4:26 PM. Reason : I just checked brandan wright's dimensions vs davis too and they are both 6'10" with 7'4" wingspans.]
12/13/2011 4:24:34 PM
one can never be certain with 18 year olds, so your reservations make sense.despite having the same measurements, Wright and Davis are distinctly different players. Davis can handle the ball (again, he spent most of his life as a PG) and has the potential to develop a consistent outside shot. but its the defense where he really stands out. he's a human pogo stick and has the quickness and agility to match-up with guys much smaller. i've read that some pro scouts project he'll be able to guard the 3, 4, or 5 in the NBA. also, unlike Wright, Davis has an excellent motor. he's always running, always playing hard.[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 5:00 PM. 12/13/2011 4:58:58 PM
I just scanned this thread and I'm not sure I see where the Brandan Wright comparison is coming from. Why compare a guy who was a back-end lottery pick who has done next to nothing in the league to a guy you think deserves to go #1 overall (and I agree, it'll be him or Andre Drummond if he shows any modicum of improvement, which he will)?[Edited on December 13, 2011 at 5:39 PM. i haven't caught a UCONN game yet this yeari know Drummond has a massive body, but what's his game like? he just imposing his physicality on people at the moment, or does he have some solid post moves? how is he defensively?

Asking NyM for an unbiased review of a UCONN player is like asking Jonah Hill's mother for an unbiased review of The Sitter

Of courseI'd probably be the 6th or 7th man
12/14/2011 7:53:25 PM
I'd get about 10 minutes a game25 if they'd let me wear the green pants
12/14/2011 7:54:05 PM
bobcats have silently put together a pretty competitive roster minus the center position. What unreal value to get Williams for 2 yrs $5 million, he's worth twice that easy.DJ/Gerald are both average, Reggie is a bit above average, Maggette a bit below.... Tyrus and Brown are above average and Diaw a bit below ... Just a big glaring hole at center. This team is potentially a great over bet if they set the line too low just because we don't have any big names. They probably won't go .500 but they look like a ~20 win team if they can sign anyone halfway competent at center. If they spent the money to get a Dalembert type center they'd likely make the playoffs.
12/14/2011 10:37:14 PM
if Biyombo plays, isn't he supposed to be able to at least defend the center position
12/14/2011 10:38:34 PM
shit wasnt even thinking about those guys. If we get anything out of biyombo or kemba this year I'd be surprised though. I think kemba will be pretty much a zero this season and biyombo (if he plays) will be a negative. So they could certainly push us below 20 wins if they play a lot...
