I started this thread with it being about the player, and frankly it was going that way until the atheist made it about religion. I'm an agnostic, so Tebow saying a lil prayer or whatever after a big play has no effect on me, its not like its new or anything. The thread wasn't about that, it was about everyone saying that he can't and then he goes and proves that he can. I get that you don't like him pushing his religion, I agree with that. I thought the abortion commercial during the super bowl as a bit much. However, if I feel that he's talking about God too much, I just tune it out or change the channel. I also think its very hypocritical of atheists to try to shove their atheism down people's throats under the guise of hating on religious people doing the same. My gf does that sometimes and I remind her that she's doing the same thing that's hatin on. From my experience, atheists will tell everyone they know, and ramble on for fucking ever about how religion is bad and atheism is good; and the very minute someone presents and opposing point of view, they're quick to be all "ZOMG YOU'RE SHOVING RELIGION DOWN MY THROAT". And I think that's just a complete horseshit way to be.

and now back to sports: That touchdown run set a new (very specific) NFL record. According to Elias, Tebow's touchdown run was the longest game-winning touchdown run by a quarterback in the final minute of the fourth quarter in NFL historysource: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/11/16/2565872/broncos-vs-jets-thursday-night-football-injury-report-odds-recap-tv-schedule

Did someone do the research for that, or do they have a handy list of obscure NFL records?
11/18/2011 1:08:09 PM
they just ask the schwab. he knows all that shit.
11/18/2011 1:24:38 PM
i'm sure they have some database of plays that they can search for criteria.
11/18/2011 1:25:22 PM
The other two longest QB runs to win a game were in OT. Vick had a 46 yard run. And I think Vince Young had the other. Can't remember what they said his was. [Edited on November 18, 2011 at 1:35 PM. Reason : One was]

LOL at Tebow pushing his religion because a TV camera is always watching him. Like I said he didn't immediatley drop to one knee after the TD, he Mile High Saluted just like very other muslim, jew, atheist Bronco before him. Like someone said before, I've done a 180 with my thoughts on Tebow. Once I was as simple minded as the one who drinks pee, but I realized that it was really the media hype that I didn't like. Simple fact is, he's winning games. Yes, the Bronco D is much improved since Tebow took over, but could that also be because he doesn't turn the ball over and force the D into bad situations?[Edited on November 18, 2011 at 1:56 PM. the Elias Sports Bureau database must be a thing of beauty to pull out all these obscure and specific statsi would love just one day alone with it

GOD this thread sucks. The worst part is no one has even made fun of pdrankin's username yet. That is like my favorite recurring theme on tww. Elitist atheists are so fucking annoying. I lump them in with devout vegetarians and facebook poltical propagandists.

Can we get back on topic? TEBOW SUCKS AS A QB. Just because your team is winning does not make you a good QB. They had to change the offense because TEBOW CAN'T COMPLETE THE TASKS OF A QB.
11/18/2011 2:02:49 PM
yeah, lets get back on topic and remember this is sports talk, not soapbox.once again, if Denver tried to trade Tebow, what do you think they could get for him? I think this is the thought experiment that shows he's worth nothing. No other offensive-coordinator is licking his chops today, saying "if only we had that guy, we could do so much more with our playbook"
11/18/2011 2:12:13 PM
The Broncos wouldn't be able to get a bag of rice in return for Tebow as a QB.

Tim Tebow, #55 in Passing Percentage with 44.8% completions... the next lowest starting QB is Carson Palmer with 53.9%Tim Tebow, #32 in Rushing Yardage in the NFL this season with only 5 games played... yes folks, including all starting RB's[Edited on November 18, 2011 at 2:49 PM. Reason : .]

and yet, with the poor stats, the only one that matters is that since Tebow became the starter, they are 4-1.
11/18/2011 4:40:13 PM
Yup, he's doing a nice job preventing them from garnering a top 10 drift pick.

11/18/2011 6:50:33 PM
^^ Someone can say that they're a better team with Tebow now than they were with Orton and still hate Tebow. It's just that Orton was playing terribly and his team seemed to have quit on him (lord knows the fans had).Doesn't mean Tebow doesn't ALSO suck as a quarterback.[Edited on November 18, 2011 at 7:05 PM. 11/18/2011 7:05:26 PM
^^that sounds like a pretty tired argument: "he was a bible-thumper before he was famous, so you can't dislike him for his bible-thumping". BS. I don't like his in-your-face bible-thumping ways. I wouldn't like it whether he was famous or not. Of course, if he wasn't famous, i wouldn't know he he was, but he is.
11/18/2011 7:14:09 PM
^^, yeah, that's what I mean - at least with Orton they were going to get a great draft pick. I don't hate Tebow at all, and I don't really give a shit about the Broncos either, I'm just out here in Colorado for grad school and hear about this non-fucking-stop in the Post, on 1600am and 104.3fm all day every day.I honestly don't know what the hell John Fox's staff is trying to do right now, but sports radio out here in Denver (i know, consider the source...) is speculating that Elway and Fox don't want to keep Tebow, and were hoping to show he couldn't do what a QB needs to do in the NFL.
11/18/2011 7:18:00 PM
If they were doing that they wouldn't have installed the option offense which is the very thing that allows Tebow to win currently.

are you assuming that everyone who doesn't like his constant promotion of his brand of christianity is an atheist?

I very seriously doubt god is watching football on Sunday afternoon saying "that tim tebow guy prayed and went to church more this week than the other QB. I shall make it so he wins and I shall punish the other QB by making him lose"

I'm sure you'd be saying the same thing if he had Koran verses painted on his face, took out his prayer mat and bowed to mecca after each good play, and took every chance to thank allah for blessing him.
11/21/2011 12:05:26 AM
the prayer rug might be a bit much. the rest of it, no problem whatsoever
11/21/2011 8:37:08 AM
That photoshop at the top of the page makes it look like Tebow has a killer mullet.
11/21/2011 8:50:03 AM
Muhammad Ali changed his name from Cassius Clay and he's a hero who stands up for his beliefs. Tebow bows after a touchdown and he's hated. Imagine if he changed his name to Jesus Tebow.[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 8:55 AM. Reason : Shows who the closed minded in society really are.]
11/21/2011 8:53:02 AM
Ali did what he did to protest racial oppression and the Vietnam war.Tebow does what he does for a touchdown and a win.Yep, same thing.Tebow can do whatever the fuck he wants to do. I don't like him because he supports movements I don't agree with...actually, don't agree with is too nice. I think they're atrocious movements. Let's not forget that by appearing in the Focus on the Family ad, he was supporting bigoted views against the LGBT community, among other things.I also think he's an atrocious QB.[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 9:01 AM. Nice of you to take "don't like" and make it into "hate".And no, I don't like River's personal beliefs in that theater either. I don't like my dad's views on some things. Doesn't mean I hate either one of them. Doesn't even mean I don't like either of them on the whole. But neither of them made commercials about their beliefs for the super bowl.[Edited on November 21, 2011 at 9:33 AM. Reason : .]
