LOL @ Scrumples shitting on the 2 albums I mentioned. With Bon Iver, have you listened to the album as a whole, or just as individual songs? If you haven't listened to the whole album, do so. As far as Childish Gambino, it's not just "intense faces and screaming"... please listen to his work.
11/19/2011 12:04:23 PM
childish gambino - camppicked this up yesterday and I gotta agree, it's really good

There are a lot of albums I haven't yet had a chance to check out; that being said, here are mine:Tied for first:Wu Lyf - Go Tell Fire to the MountainWye Oak - CivilianTied for third:Bon Iver - Bon IverThe Dodos - No ColorHonorable mentions: (in no particular order)Fleet Foxes - Helplessness BluesGirls - Father, Son, Holy GhostJames Blake - James BlakeMegafaun - MegafaunThe Rosebuds - Loud Planes Fly LowSmith Westerns - Dye It BlondeI just now started listening to these, but they already sound like winners:Austra - Let It BreakReal Estate - Days
11/25/2011 3:44:24 PM
Real Estate is pretty decent, but it all runs together after a few listens. Track 9 is the best on the album. For the longest time I ignored that Austra record, which was a mistake. It's awesome.
11/25/2011 3:50:19 PM
Bon Eyever yall. Best album of 2011. According to people that matter.
12/16/2011 9:41:56 AM
Pitchfork's top 10 is pretty laughable this year. Destroyer at #2 is just flat out stupid. That record is fine (and this is coming from someone who can't STAND that guy) but no way is it the second best record released this year. Also Drake in the top 10 is just...No St Vincent in the top 10, either. Give me a break.
12/16/2011 10:20:44 AM
whole list is pretty shitty
12/16/2011 10:32:26 AM
Yeah, that's a shit top 10
12/16/2011 10:33:10 AM
The entire top 10 can be purchased at Urban Outfitters; most of which have a special edition released through the store (notable example: Bon Eyever's Exclusive red LP). Their top 10 is just as "about music" as those kids pulling the show posters off the walls at Motorco before the show was even over for Atlas Sound.
12/16/2011 10:59:47 AM
^For whatever reason, that weird category of 15 and 16-year-old high school hipsters-in-training always flip their shit over Atlas Sound/Deerhunter. Also, Animal Collective. Can't tell you how many of those kids have come in here to buy Atlas Sound or Animal Collective records.
12/16/2011 11:57:04 AM
Definitely believe Animal Collective. One time I was in Lunchbox in Charlotte, and this chick in that age group rode with her mom to pick up Strawberry Jam on record. I know she had a "pitiful, portable picnic player" to spin it on, too. Very eye-rollable.

am i the only one who doesn't really understand the big fuss about the weeknd?
12/16/2011 1:07:52 PM
^I like the "Glass Table Girls" single but the EP isn't very good.
12/16/2011 1:12:55 PM
I, for one, simply can't get into M83.
12/17/2011 8:37:36 AM
I forgot about Saigon's "Greatest Story Never Told" since it was released so early in the year. But it was definitely one of my favorites.

i tried to listen to that lou reed and metallica album just to see how bad it was, and i turned it off immediately after i heard "i would cut my legs and tits off" a couple seconds into the first track
12/17/2011 1:58:54 PM
Not sure why Danny Glover gets all the love, but when Kobe Bryant put out an album, nobody gave a shit. And what about Eddie Murphy's How Could It Be?

Late entry by Common - The Dreamer, The Believer
12/20/2011 9:24:28 AM
most of this shit on these lists just sucks. music as a whole now is pretty terrible. I absolutely hate the indie music nowadays. Its like the soft rock of this generation.
12/20/2011 11:09:45 AM
get the hell off my lawn, you little brats
12/20/2011 11:41:37 AM
You should stop posting and get back to work on resurrecting Cliff Burton.
12/20/2011 11:44:39 AM
Hayes Carll - KMAG YOYO (& other American stories)
12/20/2011 11:54:10 AM
Pretty sure that somebody so proud of having a 1994 Ford Mustang that it's his screenname should probably know that music is probably not his strong point....
12/20/2011 11:58:41 AM
i keep wanting to like that hayes carll but man there's some shit on there that's just fucking corny.
12/20/2011 12:42:03 PM
funny on the cliff burton thing. I dont like metallica though. Seriously though, how can you guys actually find this shit to be good music? Everytime i dare turn on the radio and turn it to 88.1 it sounds like the exact same shit, every single song. Its what soft rock radio stations are going to be playing when we are 45 years old. It lacks any kind of balls.
12/20/2011 3:26:38 PM
12/20/2011 6:50:17 PM
^as would fucked up. i keep coming back to david comes to life over and over again as my favorite of this year.
12/21/2011 7:29:48 PM
yeah, fucked up and titus andronicus are both amazing and have what i think ben94gt means by "balls"
12/21/2011 7:36:40 PM
Wild Flag has some balls.
12/21/2011 7:45:50 PM
And Sleater-Kinney has at least six balls.
12/21/2011 7:51:37 PM
My Sleater-Kinney tattoo beats the shit out of me bi-weekly.

The Girls album Father, Son, Holy Ghost has, to my surprise, the most replay value of any album I have heard this year.Songs that I initially wrote off as mediocre, I've found impressive after repeated listens.
12/24/2011 1:31:19 AM
Has anybody ever liked Bjork? I was always confused by this...
