What's the verdict on this?Is it useful??Can you make a phone call from the side of the road stranded, or is it a good idea to keep a prepaid in the glove box or something?[Edited on December 14, 2011 at 1:39 PM. Reason : .]

Clark Howard said he was going to try this out. Not sure if he's posted results yet.

there's a forum on their website with some discussions. I guess they've had some delays getting the phones out to the first batch of people but they should have them now.I'm looking forward to hearing about this as it develops

does anyone have information about when they will open this back up? I'm sick of verizon ripping us a new one every damn month. 170 bucks per month is just fucking ridiculous.

Just curious... what service are you getting that's $170/month? I have 450 min/mo (some crazy amount of nights and weekends) and true unlimited data/texts on AT&T with two other lines for $150/month.

well, we have verizon family plan (2 lines) (shared 1100 or so minutes, unlimited texting)each have unlimited data at 30 bucks a pop. would like to get rid of data, but NOT ALLOWED[Edited on January 20, 2012 at 9:46 AM. Reason : ]

Sounds appealing if you're primarily around wifi--while I'm covered at work and home, I would just be a bit leery of it just because I tend to make a lot of calls when I'm out and about, or in the car over a bluetooth link with the car audio But as the non-wifi goes, not sure what the deal is with people having shitty coverage with Sprint. I've been with them for 4.5 years (and for another 3 years '01 to '04) and have always enjoyed good coverage in the triangle. Other than one spot on I-40 where I my calls are reliably dropped (between exit 273 and 274 eastbound) and in my office (which is in the basement of a cinder-block and brick building) I rarely have problems.

I couldn't tolerate Virgin Mobile for a full month before I changed back.
