The ticket price for a regular Moogfest pass was the same as a Hopscotch VIP pass, so I don't see your point as far as ticket prices go. The lines weren't as bad at Moogfest for regular ticket holders and very few things reached capacity. Sorry you can't get down with a band that uses synthesizers, but I can't get down with Mouthus, Filthybird, the Tomahawks, Xiu Xiu, etc etc.

I considered going to Moogfest and even like a lot of the artists on the bill, but figured I would get bored of hearing that kind of music live for an entire weekend. With Hopscotch, as had already been mentioned, there's a lot more variety in styles, not to mention the much cheaper VIP option.
11/19/2011 4:18:35 PM
I figured with guitar rock I'd get tired of hearing a Fender Telecaster over and over again; that's why I'm not going to Hopscotch this year. It's an instrument that certainly has its limitations. ps you sound ridiculous.
11/19/2011 5:11:26 PM
^^I can attest to the fact that Moogfest is the exact opposite of boring. Sooooo much fun and I didn't find myself having any issues of repetitiveness of acts or anything either year.EDIT: Also, to be clear, I'm not saying that Hopscotch hasn't been a whole lot of fun the last two years; it definitely has been. I just think there is a bit of missed potential in last year's lineup especially.[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 5:37 PM. Reason : s]

Anyway, how many bands did the average person see at Hopscotch? Pretty sure I saw less than 20 at actual sets (no day parties, etc). So when people mention value as compared to other festivals simply because there's more bands for the buck, that's pretty stupid.[Edited on November 19, 2011 at 10:00 PM. A lottery ticket is a lot cheaper, and the payout is a lot better that 8 minimalist bands, 1 buzz band, 3 noise bands, 4 ambient loop bands, and 96 local bands. Garage psych. Don't forget garage psych. [Edited on November 23, 2011 at 11:19 PM. Reason : Pop folk punk shoe gaze post punk post boring]

that is not an accurate characterization of hopscotchyou must be talking about some other dreadful festival that you won't be attending because there are crowds

What am I missing aside from one chillwave and a comeon motherfucker?
11/24/2011 12:07:50 AM
dude could you please stop being like this in this threadwe all got your point. go hang out at your other festivals (that i'm pretty goddamn positive you will just have a shitty opinion of for one reason or another.) we get ityou're fucking AWESOME.

That's...pretty fair, actually. Except the sarcastic afterword.

got my email and look forward to buying my 2. i've had a tremendous amount of fun both years, and i'm big on this early sale idea.

I seriously hope no one would look at my stupid ramblings to determine whether or not to buy a Hopscotch pass, but I'm sorry for those who can't take the Internet for what it's worth. While jstpack above appreciates the presale passes, I do not. And that's the only serious message anyone should derive from any of my posts. As being the Wolf Web, things aren't meant to be taken seriously in my opinion. If that weren't the case, the seemingly anonymous presence wouldn't exist and we'd also have a major presence of those who booked the festival; posting with us throughout the thread. I was simply having fun with this thread, as I interpret the Internet as a place to have fun. I can partially hide behind my cloak of anonymity to most users, offer differing and majorly negative quips without fear of being judged to the point of it mattering, and even offer a differing opinion that doesn't involve the salty taste of a certain Grayson's balls. Hopscotch is a good thing for Raleigh. Go, buy tickets. Be young adults. Have fun with your lives...
11/24/2011 1:53:34 AM

Anyone do that one-time-offer.com $20 ticket rebate popup after ordering VIP tickets? Sounds like a scam to me.
11/30/2011 1:38:32 PM
Something similar always comes up when I buy off etix. I've always assumed its more trouble than it's worth.
11/30/2011 1:40:34 PM
there have been times when that popup has very nearly blown my speakers and/or scared the shit out of me
11/30/2011 1:47:19 PM
I'm just gonna wait this one out. there were tons of people selling their tickets for face value in the month leading up to it last year so I see no need to spend money I don't feel like spending right now. (not trying to deter others from buying though)
11/30/2011 5:02:12 PM
CONGRATULATIONS!
11/30/2011 5:03:47 PM
yeah got two VIPssooooo long to wait
11/30/2011 5:11:21 PM
I'm waiting. Don't have the kind of disposable income to just get VIPs on a whim this time.
11/30/2011 5:13:56 PM
Gonna wait as well for the same reasons. I was thinking today about potential headliners that would definitely get me excited enough to immediately buy a ticket, and I saw that Spiritualized was announced for a festival date next summer...they would definitely do the trick. They're like top 2 or 3 on my list of bands I haven't seen that I want to (right behind Radiohead, who I'm seeing in March and is obviously too pricey for Hopscotch).
