Anyone who disagrees with this thread disagrees with progressCharlotte is what Raleigh aspires to be

definitelywe should all aspire to moving professional sports teams to the middle of the ghetto/run down sections of downtown and have zero parking for fans. We can then make them park in surrounding business parking lots because then we can reap the benefits [Edited on October 10, 2011 at 11:04 AM. Reason : definitely progress][Edited on October 10, 2011 at 11:05 AM. Reason : .]

^ charlotte teaches better grammar, as well as basic sentence structure in school.
10/10/2011 11:06:58 AM
i refuse to use proper grammar and sentence structure on the internet

Charlotte has some of the nation's best therapists that can prescribe medication to help you cope with your irrational mindset.
10/10/2011 11:09:27 AM
In terms of real big cities with culture, recreation, etc both are still subpar. It's like the best looking Van Gundy brother here we're talking about.Though I like living in Raleigh.
10/10/2011 11:11:29 AM
but neither are real big cities, or claim to be. They are both large cities, but neither would ever be compared to NYC, Chicago, Houston, LA, etc...
10/10/2011 11:13:04 AM
An out of town friend of mine visiting Raleigh had the best description I think - Raleigh is the Austin of NC... and I like it!

Carowinds > Adventure Landing
10/10/2011 11:17:52 AM
NyM shits on North Carolina as much as anyone on here, yet he moved from not only Connecticut to live here, but California as well. No more jaded of a user exists on TWW, at least not one I'm aware of.
10/10/2011 11:19:16 AM
^^Adventure Landing > Celebration station
10/10/2011 11:20:14 AM
^ glad you can admit that Raleigh isnt even on the same level as charlotte
10/10/2011 11:22:09 AM
i just find it funny how little people actually know about Charlotte, or try to make general assumptions from one trip around 85/77]
10/10/2011 11:22:32 AM
I think one could say the same for those who really only lived around State's campus though. These threads are always dumb. Some people like living in Charlotte, some like living in Raleigh."Better" is a matter of preference. I don't understand anyone who would want to live on a farm in the country, but that doesn't mean it's better or worse than living in suburbia.
10/10/2011 11:24:03 AM
Troll thread is entertaining...both have their merits.But...-Raleigh is consistently ranked higher than Charlotte in "best places to live"-every time I visit friends or family in Charlotte I can't wait to get back to Raleigh (was just down there this past wknd actually).
10/10/2011 11:29:10 AM
10/10/2011 11:33:26 AM
Second point has a lot of bearing and should be a footnote in the next edition of Fodor's, since most folks who visit their families quickly become enamored with the local population and seek to spend as much time as possible there. Jesus Christ, if we wanted personal ancedotes, we'd sign up to be pen pals. This thread is about the pros and cons of each city from a purely objectional standpoint, not about how you couldn't wait to get back to Raleigh because you have deep rooted family issues and/or you couldn't wait to get back to NyM's seven inches. But then again, I guess asking for any intelligent discussion on the matter is a lost cause, since everyone here loses all traces of rational thought whenever matters of defending their "homeland" come into play, even if their homeland is an adopted notion that didn't eve factor in their lives until they were almost twenty.

Our highway sucks, so fuck our whole city. Seems rational.
10/10/2011 11:44:51 AM
I will say I have met quite a few of hot menfolk that say they're from Charlotte. Now living there and being from there are two different things. But I like hot men.
10/10/2011 11:48:03 AM
Who doesn't? But the issue here is not the general attractiveness of the population. We're trying to determine which city is a more desirable place to live. And besides being closer to the beach, I've yet to hear a good argument in Raleigh's favor.
10/10/2011 11:49:53 AM
I mean I love Raleigh.
10/10/2011 11:51:27 AM
10/10/2011 11:53:37 AM
We focus on real issues here, like banking and NASCAR, while you prefer to focus on trite matters like food trucks and roundabouts.
10/10/2011 11:56:02 AM
Charlotte just gets pissy because their taxes are outrageous and half of it goes to Raleigh.
10/10/2011 12:00:13 PM
god I hate Nascar
10/10/2011 12:03:37 PM
the only time i hear people shitting on Raleigh is when your townsfolk call into sports radio and contest that Raleigh can support a professional baseball team better than Charlotte and the host, a former Raleigh citizen, does the ragging himself. now can Charlotte support one? I'll be the first to say probably not and that that's another thread in itself.]
10/10/2011 12:06:33 PM
my wife thinks so, i do not. Better food here better people here.and the ones that do suck wear this logo so you know not to talk to them.
10/10/2011 12:06:47 PM
Charlotte is awful
10/10/2011 12:07:28 PM

to me, it seems like no one lives in uptown charlotte proper -- unless they are a rich banker looking down on you from their outrageously priced condo. That kinda fucks a city up from the get go IMO.My other complaint is usually when I meet someone at a Charlotte bar its "oh Hai my names Blah blah blah, I'm from Shelby/Gastonia/Belmont/Monroe/othershittyoutlyingcity and I drove into town to hang out for the weekend." There are definitely diamonds in the rough from those towns but for the most part its a given that I won't give a damn what they have to talk about (probably the latest American Idol season)Lastly the "Mega-churches" in the area creep me out. People driving from one strip mall to the next with bumper stickers proclaiming which one they belong to makes me feel like I'm in the white bread twilight zonenote: I'm not pretentious I swear

Charlotte has one critical flaw, it's proximity to South Carolina.

It only gets called that because you need thick skin and balls to live in Charlotte, and those articles are written for the common man who has neither.
10/10/2011 4:30:44 PM
myrtle beach keeps getting called one of the best beaches in the nation
10/10/2011 4:32:10 PM
where do all of you Raleigh people go to hear about your town being shitted on when you never leave your bubble?i never hear the Charlotte/Raleigh argument anywhere unless it's here or on sports radio (and that's rare)]
