btttHeading up in 3 weeks or so, staying downtown and walking probably everywhere we go for the weekend. I think there's enough breweries/bars that it'll take us both days, but I don't know places to eat. Probably two breakfast/brunch (one will be sunday), two lunches, and two dinners. Not super fancy places because we'll probably be drunk most of the time. Biscuit Head is the only thing I see that I recognize as something we might check out, and one of my friends suggested Buxton Hall BBQ

Biscuithead is amazing, but there's often lines out the doors, even on weekdays. Location in West Asheville is the one to visit...better neighborhood and much larger.

^Imma try to hit that up this weekend while I'm there

Good luck. I'd try for opening or closing...prob still crazy lines tho, esp this time of year.

oh yeah, gonna shoot for the AM opening...probably during the day we don't have much planned

What's to do or eat in Hendersonville?

Just got back from spending another week in AVL for work. I hit some of usual tourist traps but also some hole in the wall places. I'd recommend going to Nine Mile for some Jamaican food, 12 Bones is still great for ribs, White Duck Taco and Mamacita's are both good for Mexican, etc. I went to some other bars that were interesting but unless your spending a shitload of time up there its probably not worth worrying about. Also French Broad Chocolate's has moved their factory location. They are now on the north end of Riverside and actually have a little lunch bar thing, with some food, drinks and even a few taps. The other one down by Green Man didn't have much besides the chocolate and the factory tour. New place is quite fancy.

^^i’ve been told the Heidelberg Haus (German) is pretty good, and decent German restaraunts can be pretty hard to find. Also I’ve been wanting to try Hendough - Chicken and donuts.

If you want doughnuts and coffee i would highly recommend Hole doughnuts in west asheville it is 3 minutes from New Belgium. They make the doughnuts to order right in front of you very good but can be very busy. For breakfast i would recommend Homegrown it is north of downtown i have enjoyed that place multiple times. Also in that area if you are looking to kill time check out Asheville brewing that has a movie theater cheap ticket price and you can eat and drink while watching the movie.

^I went there for lunch one day as its just east of campus. Only downside was they got rid of the lunch buffet. Otherwise good stuff though.

Any good bars to hit up with a big selection of beers? This Sat afternoon/evening may be our only time to hit up several breweries/bars before/after dinner and I'm afraid shit will be packed on a nice weather weekend. Thinking that may be a better option to try more beers in one spot. Also want to focus more on stuff on South Slope (never been to Burial) & maybe the River Arts district if there's anything worth checking out there.Places I've been & OK with not going to this time: Wicked Weed, Highland, Troy & Sons, Lexington Ave, French Broad, Mayfel's. Been to Asheville Brewing & Hi-Wire too, but I'd consider going to them this go round.

You can easily spend an afternoon sampling beer on the South Slope alone (Burial, twin leaf, green man, funkatorium, prob others) but if it gets old (or too busy) and you still want to sample you might consider hitting Tasty Beverage or Bhramari.Tasty Bev is right in South Slope, same company as the one in Raleigh. has taps usually with some out-there local stuff as well as other interesting beers from across the country. It is highly unlikely to be super busy like the breweries will be.Bhramari is a brew pub about 2-3 blocks from South Slope. It has its own beers (some of which I think are pretty good!) but also typically has a good mix of other local beers on tap. It’s rarely as busy as other breweries in the area.
