Haven't they had a clue about the mother (being at a party, in a class Ted accidentally walked in to, an umbrella, etc.) that would rule out Victoria?Surely there's a nerd fan page that lays all this out
10/11/2011 10:17:50 AM
^you are right there and that wouldn't make sense with Victoria. You probably are right about the fan page too haha.
10/11/2011 10:41:42 AM
One thing that we have to think about is that apparently Ted would never have met the mother if he hadn't decided to start teaching. I can't remember what season it was but it was shortly after Stella dumped him and he happened to run in to her on the street. She said something that inspired him to become a professor and after that he had a big long dancing number about how important it was in his life because he never would have met the mother if that hadn't happened.
10/11/2011 11:06:13 AM
good point. I don't remember enough of this I mean I do when people remind me like you just did, but I definitely can't recall all these clues off the top of my head.
10/11/2011 11:53:37 AM
Well supposedly the mother was in his class/lecture at the end of one of the seasons.Yeah, nm someone already mentioned that.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 12:40 PM. Reason : ]

This show just needs to end.
10/11/2011 12:45:12 PM
It's definitely not what it used to beBut it's still 100 times better than shit like 2 Broke Girls and Whitney
10/11/2011 1:00:44 PM
It occurred to me that I don't like Ted. I only tolerate him because all the other characters like him and they mitigate his aura of douche.
10/11/2011 1:31:27 PM
All of these theories are ridiculous. The mother has definitely not been seen on the show yet other than the back of her heel. The only thing we can guarantee about her is she is white and owns a yellow umbrella.
10/11/2011 3:52:39 PM
[spoiler]lily = mother[/spoiler]
10/11/2011 4:02:38 PM
Just ask Rachel Bilson who was on set that day.

i don't even know why i watch the show any more. A show with this type of premise doesn't need to go on any longer than four seasons, just like shows about kids in high school (saved by the bell, dawson's creek) shouldn't extend past high school and into the college years. I think the only reason why my wife and I watch it is because we always have.
10/11/2011 4:50:31 PM
Yeah, they probably didn't intend for the show to go on for 7 seasons either. I somehow doubt that the creators had this 10 year plan for revealing the mother.
10/11/2011 4:52:53 PM
Yes it still has some good moments, but I almost wish they would put it out of its misery before it completely jumps the shark and leaves us with bad memories. It has had a great run, but like Chuck and some other shows, they need to give it a confirmed Final season so that the writers have time to do a great wrap up and ending.I am worried the show will get cancelled at the last minute and they will have to wrap the whole thing up in one shitty little concluding episode. That would be a travesty.
10/12/2011 8:35:56 AM
this show has reached Entourage levels for me. I find myself watching each week, most of the time out of loyalty, rarely getting much in return.
10/12/2011 9:13:50 AM
10/12/2011 9:20:28 AM
I thought I read in an interview that they already know how they're going to end it.
10/12/2011 9:54:06 AM
^Yes you are right, but I am talking about if the showrunners assume that next season is just Season 8 and not the last season, so they write the season as if it is just a lead up to Season 9. Then midseason, they get the word that its not coming back, and have to do a quick and dirty rewrite on the last couple of episodes mid-production, or worse yet they end the series with some fucking cliffhanger.Honestly I like the way they are handling Chuck and its finale, much like they did Friday Night Lights. They gave it an order for a season pickup with the understanding that it was the final season. Then you have a great buildup to the end of a show you have been invested in for all this time. Often times those are some of the best seasons. I know that FNL last season was awesome and the finale was a damn tearjerker, but it was so much better than some contrived ending like Life on Mars. Yuck. I just wish shows were allowed to have a dignified run on US television. In that way I prefer the British way of running shows. They usually end before they begin to suck.

10/12/2011 11:21:08 AM
maybe they are above average but not the average of what I watch. Its hard for me to watch this and the office, yet I still do.
10/12/2011 11:48:48 AM
I know saying "The Office sucks now" is what all the cool kids do (and it did suck for a bit) but the current season has been great so far
10/12/2011 12:16:30 PM
^pretty much agree. And I'm still enjoying HIMYM...maybe I'm in the minority though.
10/12/2011 12:32:44 PM
I would say that The Office has actually grown and evolved more than HIMYM. I still like them both, and have watched shows out of loyalty that were far shittier than both. I am simply saying I hope they are allowed to bow out gracefully instead of bled dry for every ounce of ratings they can get, product be damned.
10/12/2011 12:59:48 PM
This show became way more enjoyable for me when I just started to completely ignore the idea that he is telling the story of how he met the mom.I could care less, and when I watch and just stick a pin in that fact and treat it as any other sitcom it is much better. It became dumb to me to hang on every little detail of his story after like 2 seasons, and I got tired of the, "and that kids... was not your mother, but someone who would end up being very important in season 9, like that goat, but we'll get back to that later." Not sure if that makes sense, but it has made the show better because I think the premise of Ted's story is dumb and aside from him telling the longest story in the history of the world, the other characters are pretty funny and it is a watchable 30 minutes of TV.
10/12/2011 1:21:17 PM
I've said it once and I'll say it again.
10/12/2011 4:36:25 PM
i really dont like him either. its like he cant help but look smug and pretentious.
10/12/2011 6:56:55 PM
The therapist character is just stupid, and there is zero chemistry between him and Robin.
10/14/2011 2:32:58 AM
Murder Train!
10/17/2011 9:32:59 PM
One of the few redeeming qualities of the episode last night. I was hoping that the website was going to be a fake setup like what Barney did in the playbook. Kind of a let down to be honest.
10/17/2011 9:45:25 PM
I don't like where they're going with the "dysfunctional group" theme. Like when Veronica told Ted it's weird to hang out with Barney and Robin. The therapist seemed to continue that.
10/18/2011 8:05:59 AM
didn't buy for a second any of them would spit take and tell Ted he had to check that website immediatelyand I really hate Kumar
10/18/2011 8:12:14 AM
sounds like the gang is headed for a "break up"but we know they all get back together in the end!
10/18/2011 9:47:57 AM
that episode sucked. Not much funny in it & I agree..Kumar needs to go, not funny & doesn't blend in with the rest too well.
10/18/2011 11:20:22 AM
I liked the idea. No one really goes on a BLIND date anymore. It was a good premise, they just wasted it with basic humor.
10/18/2011 11:28:17 AM
janetmcintyre.net should have been registered by the show...stupid fox...can't even manage a simple redirect?!they registered it but they're just sitting on it...http://whois.domaintools.com/janetmcintyre.net[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 1:59 PM. Reason : .]
10/18/2011 1:53:04 PM
I think it may have been intentional. Every other domain they've ever had has been registered (and live), so I figured they didn't want us to know before Ted?[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 3:13 PM. Reason : ]
10/18/2011 3:13:10 PM
what do you mean? i don't think they should put up janet's profile and website and all that, just a simple redirect to the website of the show would suffice
10/18/2011 6:03:44 PM
Oh, yeah I guess that would be sufficient and an oversight ex post facto.I just meant that every link I've followed 'live' has linked to something in the past; so I figured this one was intentionally left a dead end rather than a product of laziness.[Edited on October 18, 2011 at 7:56 PM. The guys on this show are still collectively hilarious. The girls on this show are still collectively annoying as shit.Sexist? Maybe. But it is what it is.

that was the last episode i'll ever watch. it was that bad. i will, however, monitor this thread to see if there are any episodes worth watching.
11/3/2011 10:14:43 AM
The whole Canada and Barney part of the show was hilarious! Katie Holmes is hot, but I was so excited for the return of the slutty pumpkin and that was very disappointing.
11/3/2011 10:17:00 AM
There have been plenty of episodes worse than that one. Barney made up for the sucky parts...Why do they do the stupidest things for Lily? All the terrible episodes usually have her doing something really annoying - smoking voice, where's the poop?, the pregnancy stupidity.
11/3/2011 10:18:22 AM
Katie Holmes creeps me the fuck out.
