For page 2:

Thanks! It's a commercial for a check-cashing place called Friendly Check. I think it's only airing on the "urban" stations though.

Also, I just found out I'm still in the running to be the next voice of Nick Jr. and a show on G4TV. Would. Be. Awesome.

Today, I recorded some on-hold messaging for 2 local, but pretty large companies. Was kind of cool.

Oh and I'd like to correct some misinformation (for anyone that cares)... the voice of Hulu.com is not Rodney Saulsberry, as I said earlier. It is actually a guy named Dave Fennoy. TMYK.

*Oh snap! I just learned I booked an ad for a bank chain in Pennsylvania... playing a 60 yr old dude. lol

It's been a pretty awesome week, so far. More on-hold messaging, a political ad, a pharmaceutical study ad, a promo video for NCA&T and found out I booked a gig for this Friday (don't know what it is, yet).

Follow your dream, people! It can be done!

I hope you get it, though.

^^ Thanks.

^ What does he do?

*Just booked to be the voice of Viejas Casino & Outlet Center in California! *

Forgive my ignorance here, but whenever I used to download 128k mp3s they would sound like shit. How do you get studio voice-over quality with ISDN; which if I'm correct, is the same bitrate?

If I'm not mistaken, a voiceover track doesn't have anywhere near the frequency content of a full-band recording, so lower bitrates can be sufficient. For example, one of the main gripes with 128k MP3s is the "sizzle" you get on cymbal washes; a voice never approaches that frequency.

^^^^ vinylbandit got it right. With VO, you're only dealing with mono, voice-only audio. Furthermore, once the producers/engineers get into actually making the spots, they're going to process the voice file even more. After all of that, any quality issues will be moot. Good question.

^^ & ^ TWW special: $15 (usually $20) for a personal voice-mail greeting

Some interesting auditions today. One involved saying two words in the style of "Bill & Ted" Keanu Reeves.

The other was for a NASCAR feature on ESPN.

This morning, I had an ISDN session for a Need for Speed spot for Spotify (UK). It was pretty awesome working with a studio in the UK for the first time.

And so now I have an agent in the UK.

I've never really pursued audiobooks. I just don't have the stamina for it. It is a pretty long process, keeping up with character nuances, consistent tone for the "narrator." Not my cup of tea...

Maybe sometime in the near future, though.

Yeah, the guy that does the Harry Potter books is a machine. It is seriously ridiculous that he voiced EVERY character in EVERY book. Truly amazing talent.

Thanks. :-)

My speaking voice is exactly the same as most of my commercial gigs. For the promo and imaging stuff, not so much. Every now and then, I get to vary my tone and stuff... but for the most part, they just want a real, natural read.

Forgot to post that I recorded a Spotify ad for Bing.com yesterday. 'Twas pretty cool.

Also, once it's actually airing, I'll post a link to one of the TBS promos I did for The Hangover 2 Blu-Ray release.

Unfortunately, I don't actually do that promo... that was just something for the demo.

My voice is fairly deep. Let's just say it's never hurt my chances in the past.
