2How did your weekend switch go?
10/16/2011 10:24:03 PM
This thread reminds me that I need to go to my nearest Wachovia Wells Fargo branch and close the account I have there.
10/17/2011 8:07:29 AM
Those signs are horrendous.
10/17/2011 10:04:37 AM
been with wachovia since i was like 16closing my accounts as soon as i can do some research on online checking accounts
10/17/2011 10:41:34 AM
i currently have wells, had another wach that now got joined, rbc, pnc, a credit union, and a charles schwab checking accounts.schwab is the tits.long story as to why i have, and still fund 4-6 checking accounts at a time
10/17/2011 10:44:03 AM
God the company I consolidated my student loans with blows. They're making it exceedingly difficult to switch over my auto payments from Wachovia. Bitches be trifling
10/17/2011 10:45:45 AM
Is there cause to close my student account and shift to a different bank?I am very financially uneducated.
10/18/2011 4:56:06 PM
^^^i don't think i could handle 4-6 checking accounts. I have money in 3-4 different places but only 1 primary checking account.
10/18/2011 5:03:54 PM
wonder how long its going to be before we gotta pay just to hold our money there..... seriously thinking about starting my own bank. Fresh Start = no financial crisis!
10/18/2011 5:18:57 PM
And this is why I have NFCU and USAA accounts.
10/18/2011 8:12:45 PM
My weekend switch went fine, and my old card even works
10/18/2011 8:58:18 PM
finally logged in to my old wachovia accounts to setup the wells fargo online stuff and it only transferred (or at least shows) one of my two accounts. I was going to close both anyway now but hopefully I have no problems getting the money out of both.
10/21/2011 7:29:45 PM
their website blows. online activity tracking looks like a clusterfuck. I've heard of a lot of people who are planning on switching. Wachovia is the only bank I've ever used - thoughts on others that are good?
10/21/2011 11:17:04 PM
credit unionto be honest, i also have first citizens, while not the best bank, they haven't been nearly as shitty as other banks (from stories i've read). my father doesn't like FC's investor services though. But he LOVES their insurance agents.[Edited on October 21, 2011 at 11:21 PM. Reason : ,]

I'm switching over to coastal federal

^^^If you don't do many cash deposits, I'd recommend Schwab. Mobile deposits for checks under 1k, otherwise you've got to mail them... does your job do direct deposit? And if you like carrying cash to spend... they cover your ATM fees up to 6/mo. And the checking account bears interest (currently .2%, but wellsfargo savings has .05%). Credit unions will probably have larger interest rates on checking, and ATM reimbursement, but their online banking systems (which sounds important to you) may be pretty shitty.[Edited on October 22, 2011 at 11:35 AM. second the comment about the signs.and it wouldn't be so bad but there was once a wachovia on every corner so now those signs are everywhere.
10/23/2011 12:56:45 PM
No major qualms with Wells Fargo, but (a) their signs do look like sh*t and (b) I fear all major banks are going to adopt the BoA checking account model with $5 fees for using a debt card.I was driving near my wife's campus the other day and she said "those signs look terrible... is that a yellow bush or something on the bottom?" She thought it was 'scrolling' or some kind of abstract design. I guess the sign makes more sense if you were brought up around the Wells Fargo logo and know what the silhouette is.I looked at the local credit union, but there is a local bank in good standing that offers 2% interest on your balances and has a full-service branch in walking distance from my house. Bingo.

^I'll third (or fourth, whatever) that the new signs look shitty and are way too big. Even my little daughter commented that she liked the way the bank looked before. Sad when the tot notices ugly signage.More annoyingly, though, is the way they do business. I've only been their customer for 2 weeks, and already I've decided they SUCK!First experience was an $8K check deposit on Oct 17. The decided to delay the fund availability for 9 DAYS! What kind of shady check was it, you ask? Something from my brother-in-law written on a check with a Homer Simpson background? Did I wrinkle it up, forget to endorse it, or something like that? No, it was a printed check from Prudential, a big pappa insurance and investment company, endorsed for deposit only. I didn't need the money available right away, but 9 days? You've got to be kidding me. This morning I deposited a $4K CASHIER's check from a local credit union. It has not posted as available as of this evening. IT'S A CASHIER's CHECK!Next was the $5 fee they decided to slap on my formerly free savings account on Oct 31. To make matters more obnoxious, when I called to ask about it, the call center lady sassed me. She ended up reversing it after being sassy and condescending for about 5 minutes. She gave me this big lecture about how I didn't meet the account minimum (I have $20K there in personal accounts right now between checking and 2 savings accounts and my spouse has hundreds of thousands there in a business account) and how Wells Fargo policy is different from Wachovia policy. Well guess what, sassy call center lady, MY policy is that I don't pay a $5 monthly fee to have a shitty little savings account that's paid me 1 cent in interest this month. And they have this big friggin new sign in their new banks about how important customer service is to them. What a joke.Believe it or not, I never had a single problem with Wachovia in 17 years of banking there. Everyone there was always nice, and I never ever ever had an unexpected fee (in fact I've never had ANY fees of any kind other than foreign transaction fees which i hate but at least I know they're coming.) The one time I had something weird on my statement, the Wachovia call center lady was extremely polite and helpful. That's why we went with Wachovia for the business account, and again there were no problems.Sadly, just for my own convenience I have to leave the money at WF until I close on a business deal near the end of this year, but then I'm GONE! FUWF!

they'll find other ways to get their money with more hidden fees.
11/2/2011 10:15:02 AM
It exists. But it won't go anywhere this Congress.

Closed both my accounts on 11/4 and received cash for 100% of what was in both of them and then promptly deposited it our normal bank.On 11/7 I receive a notice in the mail that says I had an overdraft of $25 of the following type:Withdrawal Made In A BranchThe letter states that I owe $25 plus a $35 fee...Just got off the phone with the 1-800 number from there and they were no help and I was basically left with the fact that I owe them this money. They are telling me that they gave me $25 more than what was actually in my account. They didn't but even if they did, whose fault is that? Now I am going to have to spend my own time some day this week now to go back to that branch and figure this out. Bunch of idiots.
11/13/2011 3:37:58 PM
when i closed out my account i got hit with a bogus 35 dollar overdraft fee as well.
11/13/2011 4:53:14 PM
How did you get it cleared up? I expect I will get this taken care of when I got in person this week but it is still either really shady or really stupid.
11/13/2011 5:43:22 PM
I just ended up paying it because they sent it to a collection agency before they ever even notified me I owed the money. Which is pretty fucking shady in itself.
11/13/2011 9:04:54 PM
Fuck them. Fight back.

I saw something else that reminded me to check and found that my Wachovia Way2Save account has been charged $5 monthly fees at random (November and March). My Essentials (free checking) account wasn't touched.Time to close it out.
4/18/2012 3:05:53 PM
yep me too. bye bye fargo
