Considering the last time I saw the owner at work was a week and a half ago, and I'm not working until this weekend, I apologize for wanting to be informed as to the legality of what he is doing before I confront him about it.

I confronted the owner about it today. He said "Do you like working here" and walked away.

I then followed him and made an attempt to explain why I thought it was bad business, during which he kept interrupting me, then i quit.

To add to it - one employee had received a cash tip last week. He found out (through the manager or something) and is demanding that employee give the tip back, which is 100% illegal. I also found a review online for the business in which someone said the owner tried to guilt them into giving a tip because he said the staff relies on it for their living. Dude is a scumbag.

Name the company. We're bored, we'll destroy him for you.

This is absolutely Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. We'll have his mugshot on WRAL first thing monday morning.

Name names.

Trying to decide how petty I want to be. The guy is a scumbag, but he hasn't really taken anything from me (as I don't think people should've been tipping) - I let him hear my opinion and quit... not sure I want to have the guy completely screwed.

He does deserve it though. Reading some of the reviews on yelp, he has conned people into giving big tips.

If he's conning people then he deserves to be ripped a new one. At the very least people on this site I'm sure would like to know so we can avoid his business.

The fact that he didn't try to explain his reasoning shows he knows he's doin something wrong. Yours doing a disservice to humanity by letting him get off scot free.

gg for standing up for your morals, confronting the guy, and then quitting.

as far as my petty opinion goes, you gave the guy the chance to come clean. He insists on being a scumbag, and has shown that he believes in intimidating employees.. I would have no qualms with exposing him.

Well my reasoning for not wanting to out the name is that someone on Yelp who reviewed him poorly received threats from him, to the point where Cary police was involved. Being in that he has my address from my resume along with previous places I have worked (including where I work now for my main job), I'm not sure I want to piss him off to the extent I know you guys could.

Someone on Yelp said that he told her she needed to leave a tip because that is how the staff make their living. This was the same person who's review led to the threats and Cary PD.

Sounds like you could make a lot of money off him in small claims court if he was foolish enough to do such a thing

"According to a former employee, my $75 "tip" went into the owner's pocket, not the staff who actually helped with the party.  This is sickening.  This email comes from an actual employee of BigEBounce.  So if you go there--consider this before tipping, or give the tip directly to the employee."
