i would fucking love some chixnhead and waffleirons right about now
8/16/2011 11:33:58 AM
God I can't wait to eat here, but it's not going to be a cheap meal by any means.Quarter Fried Chicken and two sides alone is 14.50, then I could never resist those desserts. Oh well 20 bucks is worth it for fried chicken heaven.
8/16/2011 12:06:03 PM
Still wondering if this is a truncated menu for the "soft" opening. I love small menues (especially those that rotate seasonal main courses in) but 2 options (if its not late night) is a bit limited in my opinion. Im not complaining, just more curious I guess. I would probably get the 1/4 fried chicken and 2 sides every trip anyways.
8/16/2011 12:20:26 PM
It's a fried chicken joint. They only serve fried chicken. Next door only serves burgers.Even at Poole's, there are only 4-5 main course options on any given night, and two of them (the Royale and the roasted chicken) never change. ]
8/16/2011 12:24:42 PM
I don't think anything that sells a two piece for $15 qualifies as a "joint".

I may try it on a special occasion. In the meantime, I'm happy with my Bojangles meal if I want fried chicken and good sides.
8/16/2011 2:47:00 PM
I feel like pooles usually has 6-9 options on any given night, I'm not asking for a ton of variation, but a fried chicken salad, strips, wings, different flavored crust. I don't know 4-5 options seems more practical.

jesus christ this place is expensive... granted the food might be good, but 8 bucks for 2 pieces of chicken? 3.50 per side? This joint is to chicken joints as The Pit is to bbq joints... too expensive for what you get.(Chicken&Honey:Chicken Joints::The Pit:BBQ Joints)[Edited on August 16, 2011 at 3:32 PM. Reason : ]

if enough people are willing to pay the price then it's not too expensivesee: The Pitcheap people will bitch about it, not go, and nobody else will care[Edited on August 16, 2011 at 3:48 PM. Reason : d]
8/16/2011 3:47:49 PM
The Pit really isn't that expensive unless you're comparing it to the dollar menu at McDonalds.
8/16/2011 3:57:47 PM
I just don't like places that are alacarte style with their entree and sides. She should have raised the prices of the entrees a buck or 2 and included a free side or something...Heck, even the pit gives you 2 sides (good portions) and biscuits/hushpuppies with your meal.
8/16/2011 4:10:12 PM
why don't you like it?it gives you the ability to only get and pay for the items you wanta cheap fuck should like that

http://www.newraleigh.com/articles/archive/beasleys-chicken-honey-open/Maybe you could go and just get the chicken but then scavenge all of the sides that you want from other tables as people are leaving.
8/16/2011 4:26:40 PM
^LOLIm so tempted to check this place out for dinner tonight.man oh man, i love fried chicken
8/16/2011 4:28:49 PM
I knew this comparison with The Pit would come up.The Pit costs about twice as much as Cooper's, but here's the thing: Cooper's has better food. Yes, the 14.50 you'll pay at Beasley's for a quarter and two sides is double what you'd pay for a meal and two sides at Bojangle's, but the quality difference in the chicken is gigantic. I haven't had the sides yet, but early reviews and the fact that they're freshly made with local ingredients lead me to believe they're damn good.Quality costs, and I'm willing to pay more for something that much better. Better barbecue is something The Pit never figured out, but Beasley's chicken is easily the best I've ever had.

gourmet bojangles
8/16/2011 5:25:49 PM
this reminds me of chris rock's "cheap pete" sketchesFOURTEEN DOLLARS AND FITTY CENTS FOR SOME FRIED CHICKEN? GOOD LORD!HOW BOUT I BRING MY OWN MCNUGGETS AND EASY MAC, AND I GIVE YOU 75 CENT FOR SOME HONEY
8/16/2011 5:31:32 PM
8/16/2011 5:35:17 PM
Are the prices the same at lunch or is there a blue plate special?
8/16/2011 6:25:13 PM
8/16/2011 6:34:17 PM
Last time I went to Cooper's the bbq was more like pate and the collards had zero flavor. I was really disappointed Their hushpuppies were still good though.
8/16/2011 6:36:24 PM
i miss don murray's bbq
8/16/2011 6:44:13 PM
if you want good bbq, go to stephenson's on highway 50 near mcgees crossroadsbut back on topic, i'll probably try this place in the near future. I can't really knock it when I haven't even tried it.

8/16/2011 7:59:40 PM
Amen to the Pit bashing. That place is way overrated.
8/16/2011 8:10:58 PM
i don't think it's overratedi think it's great for what it is - the bbq place that you take snooty out-of-towners that might be turned off by a sticky table or the server's lazy eye at a real bbq placeand it's not hurting for business so it's not overpriced
8/17/2011 7:50:01 AM
Lets not turn this into another Pit argument thread Anyone go by there last night, I'm curious to know what the verdict is
8/17/2011 8:08:39 AM
8/17/2011 8:14:29 AM
how much for just the honey
8/17/2011 8:23:38 AM
Its almost as if diners are willing to pay more to not eat in a filthy fast food restaurant on Western.
8/17/2011 11:32:12 AM
^^^ A quarter white with two sides at Bojangle's is close to eight bucks. ]

ALMOST
8/17/2011 11:33:56 AM
I almost went yesterday, but decided I'd wait a little. Probably should have just gone.
8/17/2011 11:35:24 AM
Talked to some of the waitresses last night and they are psyched about how quick they can turn over tables.Apparently the food's out by the time the drink orders are filled.
8/17/2011 11:37:15 AM
8/17/2011 11:40:47 AM
Like I said before, the Pit can't touch Cooper's, let alone Wilber's.But this fucking chicken...holy shit.
8/17/2011 11:44:41 AM
The prices for this place are pretty typical for other chicken n waffle places I've been to. Thelma's in Roanoke, VA has one waffle and 4 breast tenders for 8.99, and that place isn't exactly klassy.
8/17/2011 11:51:45 AM
8/17/2011 11:55:53 AM
Then it's been more than a year.Quarter white with one side is $5.59 plus tax. Extra side is roughly $1.49 plus tax, give or take a dime.
8/17/2011 12:00:21 PM
That's a $5 deal at certain stores in Virginia.
