i have no idea, but in communism i would imagine so. still, he's huge over there, and should have a shitload of money.i remember reading somewhere that the "haves" generally keep a higher percentage of their money in China, but i don't care enough to find it or research it.][Edited on July 8, 2011 at 3:05 PM. i thought there was some condition that China would only let him play in the US if they got some high percentage of his salary, he's not your average taxpayeri'm sure he's got plenty of money though, and i don't feel like scanning through a bunch of wikipedia sources for the details]

I think sports going down might be part of the economy's full collapse. People always make jokes about how we could never have another civil war because everyone would have to pause for sports but sports are almost off the table. Economic pressure is the cause of these problems and making it harder for each side to compromise. The same thing is happening in our government. Hell, our government BARELY avoided a lockout. How can we expect these guys to. NFL and NBA may be gone while college football is dealing with huge allegation dealing with player benefits. In tough economic times, players are coming from decreasingly good family situations and in need of more and more help. The economic trouble is fucking up everything.
7/8/2011 6:19:21 PM
That might be plausible if these were the first labor struggles in the history of American sports[Edited on July 8, 2011 at 6:21 PM. Reason : NBA has locked out three times in fifteen years, come on bro]
7/8/2011 6:21:20 PM
A few questions for you to consider:1.Have the NBA and NFL ever both locked out at the same time?2.Were the previous lockouts basically a battle over who would lose pay or were they actually a battle of who would take the fair share of revenue increases?3.Were the previous lockouts also at economic downturns? If you can rule all three of those out then fine.
7/9/2011 9:18:43 PM
Tree is definitely right yao had to give up like 70% of his salary to play in the NBA. I don't recall the exact percentage but pretty sure it was more than half

i'm shocked more young players don't play overseas. it's a pretty sweet deal.my ex gf used to live with John Goldsberry's girlfriend in college. he was a PG at UNCW, some of you may remember an NCAA tournament game where he lit it up from 3. anyways, out of college he was offered to play in Germany. they gave him $750,000 for 2 years, paid for his apartment, gave him a car to use, and had a team concierge-type guy always available. they even paid for plane tickets to come back to visit the US.after he played out his contract, another German club offered him a couple million for a few years. my point is, the perks are awesome, plus you get to live in another country for a while. some people aren't open to that kind of experience, but i would think some guys coming out of college would try something different for a few years.

aside from bill simmons and TreeTwista10?you would think that the players would care about this, but they seem to actively not want a season.

I would rather there be a season than not a seasonbut I don't think anyone realistically wants it as much as they wanted the NFL to get a deal done
