great post. i have to compare that to a post i read on ESPN today that was just horrid and full or missing words.I was 9 years old, a budding state fan, we all had to watch that game at my uncle's house. My dad was in Saudi Arabia at the time. The leadup to the game by the network just showed Houston dunking like crazy on everyone, as if that's the only shot allowed in basketball. And I remember vividly saying to my mom :"this game's going to end on alley-oop". I just thought it would be state getting creamed by 25pts or so. I kept thinking.. how are we gonna beat anyone who has a guy called: Clyde "The Glide" Drexler?I still remember the final sequence of events even better than the replays. Unimaginable joy. We immediately left Dunn and went to Raleigh. It was a madhouse. Toilet paper was everywhere. Bon-fires glowed in every direction. Drunk college kids way up in trees and light posts. And Lorenzo after he dunked it, looked as if he had done something wrong, maybe he thought he was going to get called for goal-tending or he didn't beat the clock...

made me sad when i saw the news
6/28/2011 4:29:36 PM
the more I think about it, the more I realize that we need a statue of him/that dunk in front of Reynolds
6/28/2011 5:44:13 PM
Anyone remember that T-shirt that listed the first names of the five players? Sidney &Thurl &Cozell &Lorenzo &Dereck or something like that.I've been trying to find it unsuccessfully.
6/28/2011 6:27:48 PM

6/28/2011 7:34:09 PM
don't recall the specifics, that however is an unwashed (undried) 2XL
6/28/2011 7:36:52 PM
made it on PTI today as a RIP...gave a full 2 min. to himRIP
6/28/2011 7:38:04 PM
I wish I could see what Wilbon and Kornheiser had to say.
6/28/2011 8:08:43 PM
they didnt discuss it on ATH, but Woody Paige used his face time to talk about it
6/28/2011 8:10:14 PM
^^ Go to ESPN.com and download the podcast. You won't be able to SEE what they say, but you could still hear it.
6/28/2011 8:29:10 PM
kornheiser talked about it for like 10 minutes on his radio show, if you really want to hear what he has to say about it.
6/28/2011 8:40:21 PM
and all this time I thought I was the only person in Raleigh who listened to his radio show
6/28/2011 9:36:05 PM
I listen to it every day. The podcast delay is ridiculous from ESPN 980 here in DC though. I don't get it from ESPN.com.The full-length show is split into two 40-minute files, which is great because that's exactly how I long I walk my dog twice a day.
6/28/2011 10:04:30 PM
samepissed that they wait a day to post shows now
6/28/2011 10:06:20 PM

6/29/2011 9:28:25 AM
Good Lord, what a beast
6/29/2011 9:29:03 AM
Dude was definitely beastly, and a true champion. Most of us weren't alive when he played, but he was a legend here, and it's a sad event.
6/29/2011 9:41:55 AM
Sports Center had the dunk as the #2 most dramatic moment in sports history today. #1 was the 1980 USA men's hockey team beating the Soviet Union in the semi-finals of the Olympics.
7/11/2011 1:01:40 PM
