The term "anchor baby" is the new "nigger." Seriously. Whenever I see someone casually toss that term around, I get the satisfaction of knowing that I don't have to take that person seriously, because they're likely a one-dimensional bigot. It's just a callous way of dehumanizing a fellow American citizen. It reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poqoClsEhR4

My friend saw a lady have a gun drawn on her over this law. She was driving down the street and a cop randomly pulled her over, and as she was getting out her license... then he whipped out his gun. Another friend also was pulled over for this shit. Friend who saw the lady pulled over said it best: Only in Alabama would they make racism legal in 2011. -.-

Really? Because factually speaking immigrant populations, both legal and especially illegal, have a much lower overall crime rate than the general population.http://articles.cnn.com/2010-04-29/justice/arizona.immigration.crime_1_sen-russell-pearce-illegal-immigration-immigration-law?_s=PM:CRIMEThis is not a new phenomenon happening just with brown people. Take a look back through US history and read about the unwashed hordes of Irish miscreants with their penchant for drunkenness and violence that didn't really exist. Every wave of immigration has racist and overly nationalistic dunderheads trying to paint the immigrants as the source of all things evil. Factually it's just no the case.
10/10/2011 9:43:42 AM
It's funny to see the left call out the right for outlandish, unfounded claims what ^ is getting to); because the left does exactly that when it comes to gun owners.[Edited on October 10, 2011 at 10:20 AM. Reason : .]

But I like guns and find gun control laws asinine. I'm also not a liberal.
10/10/2011 10:29:36 AM
moron really really wants this to be racially motivated. like he's personally vested in hoping that it is all racism as the driving force behind securing your borders and making sure people obey the rules when crossing national borders.heaven forbid they stay in their own country and try to
10/10/2011 10:29:54 AM
^^^The only stereotype I have about gun owners is that they talk about guns all the time. And, to be clear, I am impressed by your ability to work guns into this conversation.Samwise16 just badmouthed an entire state, a perfect example of leftist stereotyping, but you go with the gun owner route... Good work!
10/10/2011 10:37:10 AM
In fairness, if you've ever been to Alabama it's hard to say anything positive. The whole state is like the really shitty parts of Macon County.
10/10/2011 10:39:52 AM
sure. i mean it's racially the polar opposite to detroit michigan but when you boil it down it's just fast food chains and walmarts and poor people, just like alabama. a lot of people claiming alabama is just racist hicks, but at the same time you have to recognize that detroit is rampant with violence and gangs.there are several non 1st world places right here in our own country. and yep these happen to be some of them.

mexican immigrants lower crime rates therefore we should circumvent the law and let them all stay here legally.but if a russian or czech wants to migrate from his socialist regime he has to stand in line with all the other non mexicans.
10/10/2011 12:41:21 PM
Not exactly, but however you want to view it. Immigration is a net positive in most cases. Lower crime rate, younger population, larger pool of workers, etc. The only reason illegal immigration is an issue is because we have a physical border with Mexico and a horrendously restrictive immigration policy.
10/10/2011 12:51:05 PM
10/10/2011 1:32:01 PM
physical borders are nothing with modern aviation.3 russian acquaintances of mine come over here with degrees in electrical and computer engineering to work jobs and can't stay past their contracts because it's $30k for a company to buy them a green card. so they got on an airplane and went back like responsible law abiding human beings but good thing we send back literal geniuses to europe, wouldn't want to saturate our american economy with mathematicians, scientists, and engineers. but look at the bright side... we now have an infinite reservoir to fill up the kfc jobs
10/10/2011 1:42:28 PM
And therefore close the borders? You're not making sense. I'm not sure anyone who is against stricter immigration laws would have a problem with your 3 Russian geniuses immigrating. lol
10/10/2011 1:59:19 PM
I guess it makes sense for liberals to want this country flooded with immigrants that push their own culture onto us.I mean most liberals I know are ashamed of the country they live in.
10/10/2011 2:03:09 PM
i don't understand 1 thing in your post.where did i say close the borders?lots of people had problems in the government as well as in the company b/c of the laws. i like how you are laughing at me having to see 3 people that were pretty damn cool have to leave the country because of this. big lol huh?
10/10/2011 2:06:20 PM
Who's culture is being pushed upon us and what exactly is this culture that is being pushed upon?
10/10/2011 2:26:28 PM
10/10/2011 2:26:45 PM
I find it very humorous how many people with too much nationalistic pride have such an incredibly limited knowledge of its history.
10/10/2011 2:28:37 PM
" let dirty Mexicans in, but keep out skilled white Europeans."it's like you are pretending that immigration service does not exist and that they won't catch you. the do and they can mess your life up on a dime if you are breaking the law. mexicans simply hide in their holes and avoid contact with the legal entities like my fellow comrades did.large %'s of mexicans work with shady people and groups where they don't have to provide any information about themselves and are aliens to the system. they avoid taxes, they avoid legal process, and obeying very simple laws that you and I 'deal with' daily.these russians wanted to work with a large company that is obviously audited and monitored by your lovely government and they would have had to go to out of their way in extreme ways to hide this for any period of time.i guess 'white europeans' aren't 'cultured enough for that. lol
10/10/2011 2:34:11 PM
10/10/2011 2:43:04 PM
^^I'm going to spell this out for you.We want the 'Dirty Mexicans' here as legals, just like Russians and the Czechs. We are against strong immigration laws for Hispanics, Russians, and Czechs. Bringing up the fact that illegal immigrants aren't really fucking up our country doesn't mean that we like the current system. We want those people that don't fuck up our country here as citizens.
10/10/2011 2:48:03 PM
the difference is.if you had no immigration law, the russians and czechs literally would flood over here and it would be crazynot sure if you've met ppl from that area but they want to come here just as badlythe problem i have is the fact that we ignore the mexicans coming in by the droves and everybody coming from across the ocean has to go through hoops and lines and waiting for years.you have a double face and you don't even realize it.it ISNT as simple as "we want mexicans and czechs and russians"
10/10/2011 3:00:12 PM
I don't have a double face about this. Our current immigration laws are stupid. Both the fact that so many people can get here illegally and so many others cannot get here legally. We should make the process easier for people who want to live and work here legally. Then we'd have droves of Mexicans, Russians, and Czechs (among others). This is counter to the "illegals make our country worse" canard which is prevalent in this thread and which I thought you were supporting when you were arguing against the data presented.
10/10/2011 3:19:28 PM
I am for bringing in as many as possible as well. Just make them front the cost of the paper work so we don't front the bill for this massive onslaught of immigrants. seriously there are possibly a billion people that would migrate here if given the chance.

AHA, sorry...you just provided the perfect example of what wdprice3 was talking about.I shouldn't have used your name because I don't actually care about you or your opinions. Just needed to latch on to the "only in Alabama" bit...
10/10/2011 8:29:25 PM
It still doesn't make sense considering I'm not part of the "left." And as for the "only in Alabama" statement, I think it's pretty clear that was a hyperbole. I'm sure Louisiana and Mississippi would do it, too.The sad fact is, the racism in this state is rampant and the cops are clearly abusing it already. I like how you won't even touch on the fact that a woman had a fucking gun pulled on her over this crap.
10/10/2011 8:33:10 PM
I don't even know what this thread is about so I don't know the context for your gun story. It sounds like it must have been terrifying.Of course, whether or not you are a liberal doesn't matter. You still provided the perfect example of what he was talking about.I'm sorry for taking your words out of context.
10/10/2011 8:58:06 PM
Why the F would you even comment on it if you didn't know what this was about? How about you at least read what this law is about THEN read my post about the woman and my friend. Geez.
10/10/2011 9:23:54 PM
I wasn't commenting on the thread topic. I was commenting on wdprice3's comment. And "Only in Alabama would they make racism legal in 2011" was the perfect example of what he was talking about. You've already said it was hyperbole so whatever. But I don't need to understand the context of the thread or the context of your post to know that "Only in Alabama would they..." involved some stereotyping of Alabama and all the other states.Again, sorry for using your post.To be clear, this is how it went down: I clicked on page 2. moron posted too much to read. JesusHChrist posted too much to read. Your comment was short so I read it and was bugged by your bit about Alabama. MisterGreen posted something I didn't understand since I hadn't read the thread. Kurtis636 posted a compelling argument related to the history of immigration. And then I get to wdprice3's comment where he's talking about what you had just done--three posts before! I couldn't resist making the connection, and I'm sorry! At this time, I should also admit that I don't understand the gun story. And I would like to know more details about it and how it's related to this new law. As it is, it just seems like a jumpy cop doing what jumpy cops do. Please enlighten me (not being sarcastic).[Edited on October 10, 2011 at 10:24 PM. Reason : ]

1. It is actually not a ridiculous stereotype comment. Many of the recent laws are actually made by the bigots I mentioned earlier. It is very, very sad how much racism exists in this state and the deep south in general. And let's be honest... stereotypes normally exist for a reason.2. The lady had a gun pulled on her because she was hispanic and the cop wanted to see her information. Yes, that's all it took for him to pull the gun out. She literally pulled out her driver's license for him, and my friend said it was during a time when many people are on their way to work downtown. My friend who is hispanic, and also a citizen (and a PhD student, so not some free loader) has also already been pulled over to show her information. Both of these people were pulled over for looking hispanic, and one had a gun pulled on them (I'm sure there have been other cases of that as well). This is why I made a comment about racism being allowed in the year 2011 - you can't even tell me that in other states besides the deep south (maybeeee the bordering states to Mexico), this would be acceptable.[Edited on October 10, 2011 at 11:16 PM. Reason : So no, this wasn't a "jumpy cop."]
10/10/2011 11:15:35 PM
FWIW, my post wasn't responding to anyone in here, in fact I only read one post in here (which I referenced) and was commenting on what I've seen/heard and not necessarily on TWW. I just used Kurtis's post to explain part of what I was getting at. My point was, that some republicans are claiming immigrants (read to say mostly mexican immigrants) are criminals (other than breaking immigration laws), dirty, lazy, and a complete drain on our country; which is really not true in most cases. Essentially, they are exaggerating and coming up with complete lies about mexican immigrants. And because of this, some democrats have been calling out republicans on this bullshit tactic. I thought it was funny because many democrats use the same exact tactic when it comes to gun owners. re: criminals, trigger happy, blood in the streets, etc. All of which are false.Feel free to replace (R) with conservative, (D) with liberal; or replace them with left-leaning/right-leaning on these issues.Carry on.[Edited on October 11, 2011 at 8:55 AM. kinda funny how Obama is so quick to deal with states that want to uphold the laws on the books, yet can't seem to find the time to deal with other states and cities that explicitly say they won't follow them; even when he lives in the middle of one of those cities.
