It ejected the cryotubes then went back to LV-426 for some reason.I'd like to think it was autopilot, but I worry that they'll say that some sort of alien flew it back there.
6/14/2011 3:39:51 PM
^ Right. Why did it go back to LV-426? Why didn't it continue on course back to Earth? Simple answer is that the WYC did it so that the USCM would have one less clue as to what actually happened at Hadley's Hope. Or... perhaps the thinking is that if they create the mystery of it returning there, the USCM will HAVE to investigate and thus increase the WYC's chances of getting their hands on some alien hosts.I'm no good at writing this stuff, but if the actual writers haven't given some serious thought to these things, then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

Same here. Cool idea though. The article gives a decent write up of the game so far.
6/20/2011 12:13:23 PM
I'm not buying a Wii U for several reasons (this was quoted from a friend of mine on another forum).

Wrong thread to be a douche in.
6/20/2011 2:43:20 PM
Plot HoleIf they blew up the atmosphere processor in Aliens, how are they breathing? In Alien they wore space suits and I do recall them saying that the air on that planet was not breathable.
6/20/2011 3:48:47 PM
The processor was part of the terraforming process. There was breathable air in Aliens and I'd imagine that it's still there a short while later.

I'm not trying to get off topic, I just thought the quote was funny. Apparently some Nintendo fanboys can't handle it.bttt

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niHx-XGUW0YI had no idea that Ridley Scott was working on a precursor to Alien. That is freaking AWESOME!!!http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/06/17/prometheus-ridley-scott-alien/

I rewatched Aliens last week on TV and i cannot get it out of my head that Newt is an android from The Company. it all comes together perfectly IF they lied to the Marines and they had lost contact way before they copped to it or if that's the reason they decide to retrieve Ripley in the first place.- first family to encounter the Aliens on the colony are the Jordens (in order to be above suspicion by Ripley they would know to 1) use a child and 2) give her an alibi)- a child survives alone that whole time? hardly, especially unhurt- her lines are lifeless and her humanity is brought up multiple times as if they're trying to convince us(ie when Ripley asks her about her doll and Newt says she's not like her, she's just plastic)- we never actually see the Aliens attack her (not even the facehugger in the medical room) but they are interested in her- she grabs for weapons without hesitation and we even see her exiting a room with Burke (Company man) with some boxes at one point- Bishop saves her in the airlock scene (and they both go into hypersleep at the end)there's alot more but it popped in my head early on in the movie and while nothing cemented it as the case every scene she was in had one thing that could arguably work in favor, plus it just sounds like something the Company would do and who knows what models were developed between Ash and Bishop(i can't explain Alien 3 Newt but that was a whole new production team)

it crawls up and is immediately pinned, it does not lungeshe's gotta act the part and scream her head off
8/12/2011 2:17:35 PM
Uhhh, no.
8/12/2011 4:38:28 PM
again, notice i said they were interested in her. they know their DNA mixes with the host to form the adult alien so its not far off to assume they know they can't mix with that yellow shit in the android or be sustained by that bodyshe was nabbed, not attacked, not harmed, not impregnated - that's not nothing to note.and you can counter that they didn't have the time to impregnate her yet but im not arguing that she definitely is an android, its that both interpretations can work in harmony[Edited on August 12, 2011 at 6:18 PM. Aside from the Alien3 autopsy shooting this theory completely down, I seem to recall there being a lot of thought dedicated in the old comics to trying to rationalize how the aliens hunt. It's believed that they have a sort of "fear radar" which guides them when hunting prey. If Newt was so traumatized that she had lost all sense of emotion, then it'd make it a lot harder for the aliens to find her. Plus, they probably didn't regard her as a serious threat or viable host, so they just left her alone. Plus, you've got to think that as a corpsman, Dietrich would have immediately picked up on the fact that she might have been an android when she diagnosed her...
8/12/2011 6:53:24 PM
I thought that Dietrich was the pilot. Not that that has anything to do with anything.
8/12/2011 7:04:09 PM
have to be a certain age or maturity to be a host?
8/12/2011 8:30:29 PM
^^ Naw, Dietrich was the corpsman and Ferro was the pilot.^ Then again, maybe not. AVP: Requiem had a facehugger attacking a child. But those movies were awful (aside from the "wolf" Predator), so I don't know what to think about that.
8/12/2011 9:05:18 PM
8/16/2011 1:00:40 PM
That's what it was called. It's a reference to Pulp Fiction.
8/16/2011 8:20:53 PM
I'm so confused
8/17/2011 4:47:53 PM
We're getting waayyyyyyyy off topic here, but the "wolf" Predator is the one from AVP2. The writers nicknamed it that after Winston Wolfe (Harvey Keitel's character) from Pulp Fiction. The Wolf Predator was the only redeeming quality of both of the AVP movies. And now, back to your regularly scheduled topic.

thank you for explaining thatnow btttso is no one going to comment on this or did you all just not see it the first time:

So far, I'm impressed. Maybe a major spoiler in this, though, so if you want to be COMPLETELY surprised and wait until the game comes out, then stay away. I know it's the first time I've seen or heard anything about a major plot point from this video...More footage is supposed to be released on the 26th.[Edited on August 23, 2011 at 6:01 PM. Reason : more footage]
8/23/2011 5:57:46 PM
so where is the spoiler in the trailer?
8/23/2011 6:10:51 PM
I didn't see any spoilers...Good trailer though. The game looks polished.
8/24/2011 10:31:42 AM
Almost 12 minutes of in-game footage.http://kotaku.com/5845520/eleven-minutes-30-seconds-of-aliens-colonial-marinesI really not sure how I feel about this now... The dialogue seems a little off to me.
9/30/2011 4:36:06 PM
Pass.I stopped at "hellz yeah" from the narrator. Not because of the "hellz yeah", but that did seem like better time than any to stop.Looks like standard shooter fare with a thin Aliens layer on top of it. [Edited on September 30, 2011 at 4:50 PM. Reason : .]

i want this too be good, but i hate the squad level thing. i like my sci fi shooters Doom style, just you vs the monsters.
9/30/2011 5:14:16 PM
I think what bothers me most is the fact that I'm supposed to believe that the colony is still standing. A "cloud of vapor the size of Nebraska" doesn't exactly make me think that much of ANYTHING would be left after the atmosphere processor went critical.
9/30/2011 8:35:14 PM
4:20 shows you a view of the damage from the processor going critical
9/30/2011 10:12:33 PM
Yeah, I saw that too. But watching the scene in the movie when the dropship breaks orbit, I just can't believe that much of anything would be left standing so close to the blast site. The colony was, what, maybe 5 miles (just guessing) from the atmosphere processor?

Pushed to fall 2012.New trailer though!

I didn't think that trailer was scandalous enough to require my DOB
2/7/2012 1:35:49 PM
That trailer would have probably been awesome had it come out ~5 years ago.It just echoes Dead Island and maybe Halo(?) to me. But I really want this game to be aweseome

The multiplayer looks fun. That guy in the video (Brian Burleson I think) shouldn't be allowed to do interviews about the game.
